DISNEY'S CONTEMPORARY RESORT Information Thread!

If I see that same Cast Member I will do my best to try and find out that information.

When I was told about them not selling the mugs, I then said so it would be just like the times when there were temporary counter service locations at the Polynesian and Wilderness Lodge. So for anyone who was at those Resorts during those times you know what I am talking about, you would know what types of food they would sell.

As for how much the the 20oz bottles cost, at the parks the total was $2.00, however I am not sure if that was the same price at the Contemporary and other WDW Resorts.

I would imagine that there will be hundreds on the DDP at the contemporary between Jan and Apr/May 2008 (when the Food N Fun work in done). They will get a lot of complaints if they do not offer any alternative to the Mugs as people staying at every other resort will be better off.

Hope you can find out some info as we are travelling to the CR on the DDP in April 2008.

Do the 14th floor rooms have the new TV's and the computers?

Actually, from a picture I've seen, it does look like they have flat panel tv's (they also have computers):

Only the Deluxe Dining Plan includes the mugs. I have sent an email to Guest Relations asking how they will handle the mug/DXDDP issue at the CR while the temp CS location is operating. I'll keep everyone posted.

Thanks! And thank you for the link to the photo! I love that they kept the old furniture. Even though I like the new decor, I've really missed the drawer space so it'll be nice to have it again for our next stay at the CR.

I am sure the answers to my questions is somewhere in this wonderful thread, but I've gone through several pages and am soo tired. Has been an exhausting couple of days, trying to find a resort available with an AP rate. Only one is CR Garden View - have not stayed at CR since 1988 in a wonderful Tower room with an MK view Guess it is time to return for 4 nights early December

On the website it describes a Garden view as Garden/Lake view. Wondering what to request for a lake or marina view, 1 st floor. A dream, I am sure!

Also, need to try to avoid the former smoking rooms due to severe asthma- any suggestions on what room areas to avoid?

Looking forward to our stay, but so much to re-learn!

In talking to my AAA TA this week, she said they have been told that there will be family suites built on what used to be the north wing of the CR. As a family of 5, I am really happy to hear that - but will believe it when I see it! Has anyone else heard this?

The honest truth is no one knows what is going to be built there. I believe that it's going to be a Disney Vacation Club building because that has been rumoured for 2 years, however when I asked a DVC Cast Member about that he told me it might be a few years before anything is officially announced.

We'll be at CR from 9/5-9/9. I understand that the F&FC will STILL be open, yes? I also understand that they have the YOMD mugs, yes? Can anyone confirm all that...I'm getting down to the nitty gritty of budget planning and a weekend of beverages for 4 may put a ding in my numbers.

Garden Wing - garden view rooms - These rooms face the landscaped grounds in the south wing of the hotel. The rooms on the first floor have a patio, but the rooms on floors two and three have no balcony. The wing is separated from the main tower of the building. These rooms are closest to the marina, pools, beach and boat dock.

Tower - Bay Lake view rooms - These rooms are located from the 5th to 11th floor of the main tower. These rooms feature views of Bay Lake. You can see the Wilderness Lodge, Fort Wilderness, Discovery Island & Epcot (and consequently Illuminations in the distance) from your balcony (which all rooms have). The Electrical Water Pageant plays outside your room each night, and our 2-year-old ate that up (though it occurs at 10:00 PM, which is past his bedtime). These rooms are closest to the heart of the action at the resort. The restaurants, game room, shops, bars, busses and monorail are all located at the tower.

Tower - Theme Park view - These rooms are located on the 6th through 11th floors of the main tower. They are identical to the Bay Lake view rooms. The difference here is the view. The rooms on this side have fantastic views of the MK. You can also see the Poly and GF and watch the monorail as it goes around Seven Seas Lagoon. You can watch wishes right from your balcony, and the music is even played on a resort CCTV channel. You don't get the Electrical Water Pageant, and you do see the parking lot, but that doesn't matter that much to most people.

I am currently booked at CBR for 8 nights. I am going solo, and this will be a special celebratory trip just for me!

I have always wanted to stay at CR, but find the prices out of my budget, especially when you figure in the air travel from Canada. However, if I were to shorten my stay to 5-6 nights, I possibly could swing it.

The Disney site has availability for a Garden View Deluxe or a Tower Theme Park view. The price difference is $400. I would really like a balcony, and I like to come back to my room to "chill" during the peak times of the day.

What do you suggest? It's not like I haven't been to WDW before. I was just there in March/April with my DS(6) and it was go-go-go. So, for myself, do I stay CBR for more nights, or do I finally bite the bullet and stay at CR?

We stayed in the MK view room in the tower in May. It was our first trip to the world with our family. I highly recommend the tower room with the MK view. We loved sitting on the balcony. The view of the MK is spectacular. If you can swing it financially go for it.
