I would LOVE:love: to stay at the Magic Kingdom resorts every time we come to WDW but has anyone ever figured out how to keep the cost down. I notice most people don't stay very long. When we come down in 9 days!! we will be there 17 days! Even if we were millionaires I doubt I would spend that much money...we just aren't in the room except to sleep! We are spending 2 days at the Contemporary basically for the pool, fireworks, electrical pagent parade on the lake, watching the Magic Kingdom wake up. But we sure wouldn't do that for 17 days. We've been passholders off and on for ??years and have never seen a discount for the MK resorts!

If anyone has a hint for saving on the cost, PLEASE let me know! We are looking forward to coming for the 2 nights though! :tinker:

Pilferk-Well rats!!! I guess I can just check every day between now and Jan. and hope I get a break! I have a question- why would they let the CR be the conference hotel, when most people with little kids want to stay there? I would think they would put them at a hotel a little farther out.

The Contemp has an attached conference center (meeting rooms, "ball rooms", etc), so tends to be where many of the larger conferences get booked. The participants in the conference prefer to be closer to the facilities, so typically the conferences book a block of rooms in the hotel (and sometimes "overflow" to other hotels, too). It seems the CR is ESPECIALLY busy, on that front, from mid January - late February...at least from what I've seen.

Don't forget that a lot of people who attend conventions at the Contemporary sometimes bring their families, so that is why a lot of people like to have conventions there.

Right. I just figured that went without saying...it's one of the draws of ANY convention at WDW.

But as to why, specifically, they book the CR's rooms....it's got the largest (still, I think) convention center on property attached to it. So for the larger conferences, people want to be close to the conference (and not have to shuttle in via bus).

I will report on what I see sometime around Tuesday night once my family and I have come back from Downtown Disney.

Hey CR Fan: I hope you have a great trip! I'm looking forward to your report on the temporary quick service location at the CR.

Hi, all.

I'm booked for a stay at CR 8/18-23, & concerned about the availability of refillable mugs during our stay, I emailed Disney & asked if the mugs would be available. This is what Melissa from WDW Online Communications had to say:
"Dear Beth,

Thank you for contacting the Walt Disney World Resort.

The Food and Fun Center is not scheduled to close until September.

We look forward to seeing you soon."

Of course, there's also a disclaimer at the bottom of the email saying information can change at any time & to please check back just before our vacation.

Just thought I'd share what I'd 'officially' heard.

Hello CR experts.....we are planning our next trip for second week in June 2008. DS15 really really wants to stay at CR. We were thinking 12th floor Atrium Club, although, I think the Magic Kingdom View would be great.

So, my understanding is Atrium Club Theme Park View is by request only? Also, for those of you that have stayed at CR, give me your favorite things about the resort (we have shopped there and had dinner at Concourse Steakhouse (just this past trip in July) and breakfast at Chef Mickey's (Nov. 2001)). We would like to try California Grill this year. Also, tell me about Atrium Club offerings and staff! Thanks!

Wow! I hope that's right, it would be great if the F&FC will still be open.
BTW I'll be at the CR the same time as you!

We'll be there next week so I guess we'll see!:)
Actually, CR Resort Fan is there now and said he would give us the scoop sometime this week if he could!

So happy to find this thread !! :goodvibes :goodvibes

BTW...are the refillable mugs now common to ALL the resorts?? I have a split stay @ the Poly and wondering if its usable there too??? :confused3

pretty sure they are okay at all the resort. I mean hey they are the same mug.

not sure about CR - someone say it still had its own.

CR Resort Fan just reported on the "live Reports" thread that the CR still has its own mug so it can only be used at CR.

This is our first stay at the Contemporary!!! We are so looking forward to it, our room is in the Tower with Magic Kingdom view :smickey:  We ate at the California Grill when we were there this past December yummy :) We'll be making a reservation for dinner when we go in June '08'.

I want to know if you get some sort of welcoming package or something fancy when you check in to the contemporary. Anyone know?
Im also wondering if you have a party of 12 and one person has AAA can that person apply for all 4 rooms for a AAA discount?
Im also wondering as to when and if they put out promotions for August 2008 how soon should I be looking for such a thing as my final payment is due july 2 so Im hoping it would be way before then if they do decide to do a promotional thing. Also can you use AAA and a promotional thing together?
thanks so much for answering all my questions.
Need all the help I can get, Im still brand spanking new, never been out of New England before! LOL

I stayed at CR the end of May with dh, dd, and gdd. It was our first trip to the world. We stayed in the tower with MK view. We only received a folder with brochures and info etc. Nothing special. What kind of a gift were you thinking of??

Don't have any info regarding your other questions. Maybe someone else will be able to answer them.

Have a great time at disney, I know we did. :yay:

I'm taking my son and my niece back to the World in August 2008 and we just booked Tower MK view on Monday!!!

I haven't stayed at CR in years, not since I was a kid, but I have always loved the resort, but now I'm sure have lots to learn about what to expect/plan for this trip!

My family will be checking into CR on 8/14. We've already requested a room 9th floor or higher (when we originally booked). Is there any way to better ensure that this request is fulfilled?
