Thank you for being so helpful! That's a great idea. We did plan our wedding through Disney, so we'll check into IPO and/or ask our coordinator. Thanks again SO MUCH!! :goodvibes
Karen, I just hope you have a magical wedding and Disneymoon. I can't wait to see all your pictures! DH and I had our Disneymoon at the Poly 12 years ago. It was wonderful, and now I am so enjoying bringing our triplets to Disney. Congrats!

You are so sweet!! Thank you :) It's such a magical place, it's the perfect place to have your disneymoon!! That's so cool that you can now bring your triplets to the place you first celebrated being together. I hope we can do the same thing one day. Well, maybe not with triplets! :rotfl:

Well, you never know... ;) I would have NEVER guessed that 10 years after we were married I'd be back with triplets... life is definitely full of surprises and magic!

We stayed in room 4548 on the 9th floor in May. We have exactly the same pictures. The room was beautiful and the view of MK was spectacular. It was the first visit to WDW for myself, my husband, our daughter and our granddaughter. The only pictures we don't have is of the fireworks. We viewed them in the park. Next time we'll view them from the balcony.

We moved to Florida 8 years ago so we have no longer have an excuse not to visit the world. We waited until our granddaughter was old enough to appreciate it. She's 5 yrs old. She keeps asking when we can go to see the princesses again. They live in Virginia so maybe when it cools down here and they visit again we'll plan another visit.

We're driving, however, our car is going to be packed to the gills with all our wedding stuff (which is why we aren't just getting it before we leave.) If it's going to save us a run around when we get there, though, maybe we'll just get it before we go. Maybe if we can find one somewhere on the way I can hold stuff on my lap and up on the floor of the front seat. That way it won't have to be for the entire trip. Thanks for the idea!

Hi There -- First of all - congrats. on your wedding. Disney is the perfect place to enhance the happiest day of your life, and make the event even more memorable and magical.

I am local Disney, and in my opinion, both Walmart and Target are out of the way from the Contemporary. Most retail stores close to Disney are over priced, some more than others. The best, again in my opinion, are Publix & Winn Dixie grocery stores, and Walgreens and CVS drug stores on West SR 192, which are closer than Walmart or Target. They are all in the same area (approximately 1-3 blocks), with Walgreens being across the street from the Winn Dixie store. Publix grocery store is a litte further up the same highway. Driving time, depending on traffic is probably around 10-15 minutes, which is really not bad as this is a tourist area. I don't think you would have to go any further than the SR 192 location as you will be able to find most grocery items here. There is also a grocery store right across from Downtown Disney property on SR 535 (Goodings), but you won't have as much of a choice as the SR 192 location. The main roads for the type of shopping you are seeking are SR 535 and SR 192 both being close to Disney property. I think it would be best to use the SR 192 location due to the convenience of being able to choose from the 4 stores.

From the Contemporary to SR 192 is as follows:

Leaving the Contemporary parking lot, go to the traffic light, North World drive, turn left.

Follow North World Drive to traffic light (Seven Seas Drive), turn right.
This is the road that takes you to the Polynesian Resort, you will see the Polynesian sign for your landmark.

Follow Seven Seas Drive to dead end, turn left. (Can't remember name of street).

Stay in right hand lane, follow road to signs for 192 West, bear right
When coming off the ramp, you will be on 192 West.

Get in left lane, follow 192 West to Formosa Boulevard (a traffic signal),
make a left. You will see the shopping center to your right.

Winn Dixie Grocery store and CVS drug store are in this shopping center.

Walgreens is across from the Winn Dixie shopping center, you can see it from Formosa Boulevard. Publix is about 3 blocks to your left when coming out of the Winn Dixie shopping center on Formosa Boulevard.

Hope this has helped, I'm sure you won't get lost as these stores are really close to Disney property. Another suggestion if you decide to go to this shopping center, don't wait until mid day, as traffic going to and coming back can be a little trying.

Have a great vacation, if I can help in any way, just e-mail me through this forum or at Lewanc@AOL.com.

My daughter and I have to move from AKL, savannah view.
We will be in Disney 7/16-7/23.
She is disappointed since she loves animals, so I am trying to make the right decision on where we should move.
Our first choice was polynesian, but nothing is available.
We have been offered a room in the contemporary garden wing, I think with a garden view.
Any input on this area is appreciated. We've never stayed at the contemporary, so I don't know a lot about the hotel.
Have all the rooms been renovated?
Do you feel this is an acceptable offer considering we've had reservations for almost a year?
Any comments on the garden wing are appreciated.

How do you feel about the contemporary verses a resort like the Yacht or Beach Club? Assuming they would have an opening.

Thanks.

Hi There -- Was just at Disney a few days ago, and stopped by the Contemporary to check out the construction. Things didn't look that bad, and noise was about at a 5 on a scale of 1-10. I was there during the day and was told by a CM that night noise was not a problem. I agree with another poster, if you have to lose the savannah, then request a guaranteee for a castle view at the Contemporary.

This trip we stayed at the Yacht Club, and have stayed at both the Beach Club and Yacht Club previously, each stay was great. Main attraction of these resorts is the easy walking access to EPCOT, the beach and yachting decor, and the Stormalong Bay pool, which all kids love. If I had to choose between a garden view at the Contemporary during this time, and garden view at the Yacht or Beach Club, I would chose one of the latter.

Which ever your choice of an alternate resort, try to make your reservations ASAP. Even if you get something else, and really want another type accommodation that is not available when you call, make the change, and then keep calling to try and get what you really want.

Good luck, and have a great vacation.

I'm looking forward to watching Wishes from our own private balcony, but I'm also curious about something. It seems like Wishes is designed to be viewed from Main Street with the fire works choreographed to go off around the castle. Does the show lose anything when being viewed from the contemporary or does having your own private viewing make up for the different angle?

I have seen Wishes a lot of times from my families Magic Kingdom view room and in my opinion I don't see a difference then if I were to see it from Main Street. The fireworks and music are the same, so that is good enough for me.

Hi There -- Just wanted to give you another opinion on your question. You are right, Wishes is designed for Main Street viewing, but when staying at the Contemporary with a Magic Kingdom view, the view is even better as you can see and hear all without being in the crowds, and having to experience the hassle of getting out of the park after the event.

Whenever we want to view the Magic Kingdom firework displays, we always book a Contemporary Magic Kingdom view room. The only other place that is better to view Wishes, in my opinion, than a Magic Kingdom view, is from the California Grill on the top floor of the Contempory. If we don't have the MK view room, we plan dinner around firework time, and the view from the Grill is really awesome. If time allows, perhaps you should try the different views, to get your preferred view. There are spots around the Contemporary where you can watch the display, you'll just have to pick one. There is also a water parade that passes the Contemporary, check when you get there to get the current time.

Have a great vacation.

I have seen Wishes a lot of times from my families Magic Kingdom view room and in my opinion I don't see a difference then if I were to see it from Main Street. The fireworks and music are the same, so that is good enough for me.

I'll disagree, though in a jovial and friendly way. :)

I agree that the view from the Contemp (rooms, CG, observation deck, outside stairwell, etc) are all stupendous. Awesome, wonderful, amazing...whatever adjective you want to apply.

But seeing them on Main Street is just better, for me. Crowds or no, the way the fireworks "frame" the park and the castle, the "close up" panoramic view...it's just magical and intimate in a way the Contemp viewing isn't, to me.

Now, that being said, there are MANY nights when I just don't want to deal with the crowds or getting into or out of MK. The Contemp is the ULTIMATE solution on those nights, because, as I said, the view is just stunning there, too. But overall, I prefer the more intimate view from ground level on MS (especially the castle hub area).

Thanks to those you answered my question about Wishes. I suspect I will watch one night from Main Street, but being able to watch from our balcony was one of the big reasons for getting the MK view room. I suspect we'll watch from there all the other nights that we're not watching Illuminations or Fantasmic :)

hi, any one know to what extent the cr pools will rehabbed, if at all? crresortfan4life? thanks

Thanks so much! DS wants to celebrate his 7th birthday there in January.
You're welcome. :thumbsup2

There has been no talk of them doing anything with the pools, however when I am there next month I will see if they are planning anything and post something if I get good details from the Cast Members.

thanks, crresortfan4life. do you have any pictures or links to pictures of the pools? thanks
