The theater is still there as of this day. They use it as an employee meeting place. I am sure however, it will be gone as part of the reno shortly though

I'm just starting to learn about the CR since we were able to get free dining (even if it means giving up on WL). How are the rooms/beds? There will be 4 of us (2 teen boys, 2 adults). I think I've read that the rooms are bigger than the ones at WL, so that will be a bonus. Do all 4 person rooms have 2 queens and a daybed? If yes, would a teen boy fit on the day bed (they both sleep on cots at Scout camp).

Also - I thought I read on another board (so much info pouring into my brain right now that I probably have gotten confused) that there are computers w/ free internet in the rooms? That can't be right....is that just a bonus for Club level rooms?

Please bear with me...I have to reset 4 months of planning....

The rooms are larger than the WIL. THere are 2 queen beds and a daybed. The Daybed is perfect for a teenage boy. My son always requests it, he says it is extremely comfortable! BTW, DS is 17...

The is a pilot program going on at the CR for ALL rooms to have the free internet. You can request housekeeping and other items through an interactive screen. Most people say they have been able to get to the Disboards and check email but I am unsure how fast it truly is. I also do not know if you bring your own laptop if you will get free internet.... Anyone else know?

I am posting this from a 4th floor room in the Contemporary. At the moment it is still free, at least the screen when I logged in said $0.00 would be charged to our room so it should be. It is extremely fast, page loading is almost instantaneous.

There are no signs at the moment of the Food and Fun Center or the Concourse Steakhouse closing.

CRFan4Life - I believe I saw you asking somewhere earlier if the refillable mugs were marked in any way - Yes they do have Contemporary Resort on them so you would not be able to use them anywhere else.

Thanks for the response. My actual dates going are 5/19-5/23. I have been checking online but no luck for all 4 days in getting a tower room. Hopefully, there will be one when I check in.

Do you think the arcade will be closed in May for the move?
I think it's safe to say the arcade will still be open in May.

I already knew the Contemporary mugs had a design of the Contemporary on them. I was referring to the new Year Of A Million Dream mugs which are being sold at various Resorts, because I did not know if they had the saying about only being used where you purchased them if the designs are the same.

The only refillable mugs they have on sale here are the CR ones.

More questions -

1 - where are smoking areas or smoking rooms at the CR? DSO smokes - but only in approved places. I just want to know where those places are so we can be prepared.

2 - Right now we have South Wing Garden view (I think that's what its called). How convenient is that to the food court for refilling mugs? I'm thinking we would probably enjoy soda in our room more if I had some delivered (maybe garden grocer), because it looks like a loooong walk....

3 - Can you get to the dock and pool directly from the S. Wing without having to go in to the main Tower?

I reserve the right to ask more questions later....

1. Since my family and I do not smoke we don't go around asking for the smoking area's, however I have seen guests smoke by the bus station since there is a place for them to throw out their cigarettes, so I guess that is one location.

2. My family and I have only stayed in the Tower, however what I know is from there to the Food & Fun Center it's about a 5 minute walk or less so it's not that bad.

3. Yes and it's very easy walk.

If you have a MK view in the tower are you able to see the Electric water parade from your room?

If not where at the CR can you view the water parade?

Yes you can and it's a clear view. If you are not on your balcony waiting for it to start, you will know it's on because you should be able to hear the music even if the screen door happens to be closed.

Great! I was hoping we would be able to see it. I have never seen it before, so this is an extra bonus!

Another questions. Our first 2 days there are the 7th and 8th of Sept., I am aware that there will be no fireworks because of the concert at MK, so will the water parade still happen?

I am not sure but my guess it would be going on because everytime my family and I have stayed at the Contemporary, we have seen the water parade every night. Plus I think it was designed for guests at the Contemporary, Polynesian and Grand Floridian since guests inside the Magic Kingdom would not be able to see it.

Thanks Fan for life for your quick responses! I am so excited about our stay at the CR. I have a feeling that after staying there I will not want to stay anywhere else! I'm especially excited about having a MK view! :cheer2:

We will be at the CR from Sept 3-10. This is during the Night of Joy. Is the music going to be loud--so loud it might disturb 3 sleeping children??? We are in the Tower MK view. Any past experience anyone????

You can see the EWP from the MK view rooms, but it is the view of the Seven Seas Lagoon, not Bay Lake. It is a little far away IMHO, but you can hear the music. To see the EWP up close and personal, we go outside to the dock and watch it. It is a great view and you are right there. On the SSL side you'll see it go from the GF to the Poly. On the BL side, you see it after it visits FW campground. HTH!

Here are some pics of the EWP last Sept while we watched it from the dock.

I've gotten AAA discount for the MKV every time (Sept and Dec), and I know they do offer AP rates as well. I would call CRO to ask about the availibility for both, check the AP website, or call a AAA agent.

Are there ever any AP or AAA discounts for a MKV or BV? If so, when is a good time to look for them?

I just booked an AP rate for MK View, May 24-26 and it was $387 a night including tax. May must not be too crowded - even Memorial Day weekend - because I believe there are still some rooms available at that rate. The AP rates for April & May came out in February, which is pretty typical (2-3 months ahead).

That's interesting. Our DU agent talked to Disney who said they don't discount the room/view. Full price only? Maybe I'll call.
