is there a floor(s) on the MK side that you can see the monorail from also
You can see the monorail going around Seven Seas Lagoon and entering/leaving the CR on all floors on the MK sides. Although I would think the higher floors would have the best view.

A few pics of the monorail from our 12th floor room Sept 2006. My DS is a HUGE monorail fan.

Awesome pics, Denise :thumbsup2
Thanks! DS is such a major monorail fanatic (has the entire MK line including resorts, TTC, etc in his room) that we really don't have any other option for us. Although, the Travel Channel has the GF on right now, and I'm DVRing it. I want to go back there for Christmas next year.

My DS3 is infatuated with the Monorails( and the buses:confused3 :rotfl: ).

I loved the GF so much and would love to go back. I would also like to try an Epcot resort when the kiddos are a little older. We visited Beches n Cream while there a couple of weeks ago and really liked that area alot.

I stayed at the BCV in January for a girls' weekend. I loved the Epcot area. Here are a few pics of busses, trucks, boats courtesy of my vehicle obsessed other DS! I just sat on the balcony and took pictures of it all... ;)

Sure, add the request to your reservation..but as you've probably read on the boards many times...request is the key word! :)

Think we were on the 8th floor (several years ago) and the view was great. Although we are the among the few guests who cannot get past looking at the parking lot, so for us the MK view is questionable for the extra cost. Of course, we'd probably do it again anyway LOL.

Do I need to call the hotel directly for this request or just the reservation number?
Thanks so much!

The telephone number for the resort go to a call center now, and it is next to impossible to get pass them ~ although if you call they can now add the request to your reservation.

I would call CRO to add the request :) Would not worry though because the tower rooms are incredible on any floor!! :)

Hope your room is just what you wish for! :)

Oh! Thank you! I just had him come look at these photos and he is screaming and jumping around he is soooo exctied! My DS is obsessed with all things vehicles too. Too funny!LOL
I considered a Mommy only get away this winter to somewhere (to celebrate no more nursing. I have nursed all of my kids for a minimum of 1 yr each.) We aren't sure if we are don having kids or not, but I need some mommy only time for a bit. hmmm......:rolleyes1

Some observation from my 9th floor MK view room. We do not have a dvd player hooked up to the tv, but we do have one in the free computer. The computer DOES have a usb port. It's located on the bottom right side of the computer, underneath the floppy disk drive (didn't know they still made those!) The were working on the entrace on the first floor to the pool area last night. Looked like they were taking down the construction walls and painting the ceiling, so they may be almost done. our room is directly over chef mickeys. We can hear the music, but it's very soft. With the tv on, we can't really hear it. That's all for now, we're on our way to get some Tonga Toast!

Thanks for the live update. :wave2:I have a few questions for you.

  • Is the internet still free for the entire stay?
  • Is your room clean? How has mousekeeping been so far?
  • Are there the red/white/yellow plugs on the tv to hook up a portable DVD player?
  • How has bus service to MGM and AK been?
  • How was check in? Did you use Magical Express?
Thanks again, and I hope you have a magical day! :thanks:Oh, and enjoy the Tonga Toast. :thumbsup2

No problems, others answered my questions when they were here, so this is my way of paying it forward ;)

1) The internet is still free. This is our 3rd day here so I'm assuming it'll be free for the whole stay.
2) Mousekeeping is ok. They empty our trash and make the bed, thats about it. The shelf under the tv has been dusty since we got here. not filthy, but not squeaky clean. They didn't vacuum our room today, and they haven't replaced out shower gel.
3) The tv has hookups for composite cables (red/white/yellow) and S-video.
4) We haven't tried the buses yet, tomorrow will be our first day going to AK.
5) check in at the CR was great, there was no one in front of us. Checkk in at the airport for magical express was a zoo. We arrived ~1:30 saturday. It was jammed, and a very long line to check in. The line did move very fast though. The bus stopped at the Polynesian first, skipped Grand Floridian since no one was going there, then went to Wilderness lodge before btinging us here.

And here's a bonus update. We just had lunch from the Tempo grab and go. I got a flat bread and my g/f got a tuna sandwhich. We're both feeling a little nautcious now. Could be the food, could be the heat. I was less than impressed with the flatbread though. For now on we'll just stick to snacks from there.

That is great news! I know this sounds crazy but I would love to see a picture of this because depending upon the setup I won't have to bring my laptop.

Thanks for letting us know!

Does anyone have any idea why the "standard view" rooms (garden wing) seem to have disappeared?

We booked over a year in advance for next August and even then there were no standard view rooms. Did we simply book too late? Is the construction using up all the cheapest rooms? Was I mis-informed?

I would love to pick up the additional $50 per night to downgrade... that money would come in handy in WDW.

I have also wondered what happened to the standard rooms.
They don't seem to be available at all.

I agree the $50/night would be better in pocket:thumbsup2
We can't afford a MK view but want to stay at the CR, and the standard room will be OK.(we have booked garden view with AAA)
When I booked the CM told me they only have garden view no standard view.
I check every day but I haven't seen a standard view for 2008.

Has any else booked a standard view room??

Yep, I'll take a picture but won't be able to post it until about two weeks. We left our camera cables at home. There's two ports. One is being used by the keyboard, the other is free. I can't test uploading anything to the computer, but we were able to charge our I-pod using it.

Thank you for you're live report. :thumbsup2

no problem :thumbsup2 It looks like they are just painting the entrance area to the pool. That night I saw them working, they moved the walls to the other door (the one I used that night). The sde they had been working on has all fresh paint.

One last note before we head to AK, the birds live! There are lots of crows in the trees by the pool, and they are loud. There's also all the ducks I've heard about. The ducks don't bother me, but the crows are a bit creepy :rolleyes1 Even with all the ducks, the pool water and deck are very clean.
