Hi.

My wife and I will be staying at the Contemporary for the first time a few months from now. I'm curious what the room service menu is like.

We have a main tower, park-view room, and I am thinking of ordering a romantic room service meal for us to enjoy while we watch fireworks from the balcony rather than trying to get a properly timed reservation at California Grill.

Does the room service menu include high end choices similar to what's offered at California Grill, or at least Steakhouse 71?

Since the WDW reopened following the Covid Pandemic. Only GF has Private Dinning (room service). The best you could do is do a Mobile Order at Steakhouse 71 and take it back to your room.

This. You could mobile order Contempo Cafe or steaks from Steakhouse 71 and bring it back to your room. I believe the gift shop sells some bottles of wine as well.

Also regardless of what time you eat at California Grill, you are able to take your receipt from that day and go back upstairs to watch the fireworks from the observation deck.

Fantasia Marketplace located on the 4th floor sells Champagne in single serve bottles and larger bottles at multiple pricing levels. As @jemtx indicated above Fantasia Marketplace also carries a variety of Wines, and select hard liquors and cordials.

I had no idea room service had been discontinued. I assumed it was too big a moneymaker for hotels to do away with.

I guess I'll try for the CA Grill reservation and use your suggestion as a fallback. Our trip is only three days, so I'm not confident about getting a reservation.

They also have a bar area at CG. You go to floor 2 and check to see if space available. You can get drinks and have a menu there.

The To go from steakhouse 71 is still a good option, food is good and you have a great view in your room. Get to go beverages (they put in plastic vs glass ) at s71. Or you could sit with a cocktail while you wait for your food and pop up to your room.

Not sure when you’re going , but don’t give up hope. I just checked 60 days from today, October 19, a Saturday. There are still several times showing available, even tho booking for that date was open to everyone since 6 am. Sometimes it’s harder to get a table for 2, so check for times for a party of 4 too. You can always modify it down to 2 ahead of time or at check in.

Agree with playing around with party number being helpful. I’ve also noticed that since CA Grill switched to prix fixe it seems easier to get a reservation. Be sure to double check the menu before you go bc. they do switch up their menu at least seasonally, so something you had your eye on when you made your reservation may no longer be available

Demand sometimes works against you, but the "Join Walk-Up Wait List" option in the app tends to work reasonably well for Cali Grill, in my experience. The waits are almost always shorter than published.

That and the previously mentioned bar seating that is walk-up.

So excited - we check into The Contemporary Club Level tomorrow. We haven't stayed at CR in about 15 years and when we did, we were in a Garden Wing room, so this will be our first Tower stay.

We just got back Saturday from 5 days at The Contemporary and it was such a fantastic trip.

If you are planning on a pool day, I HIGHLY recommend renting a Cabana. It was totally worth the $200ish cost.

Can you tell me more about the cabana rental? We’ll be there in December with our two grandkids. Considering booking a cabana on the day we transition from our VRBO to the Contemporary so the kids will have a place to hang and relax if it’s a few hours waiting on our room. A little worried about the weather being too cold though.

It was wonderful. It was about $200 and included a large cabana with shade, plenty of comfortable seats, a tv, a fridge with soft drinks and soda, a fruit tray and a desert box.

Noting a recent notice that appears on Disney's BLT DVC page and the BLT Villa page, but is not on the regular hotel-side page. "Bay Lake Pool" is the name most often used for the "bullseye" circle pool by the boat dock. The BLT pool is the "Bay Cove Pool". Either they've messed up the names and this is really a BLT pool closure, or it is in fact the bullseye/circle pool. Appreciate any reports from the ground if you see any activity. Thanks!

Beginning September 30, the Bay Lake Pool at Disney’s Contemporary Resort will be closed for maintenance. The Contemporary Feature Pool and Water Play Area will remain open for Guests to enjoy. Guests may see or hear maintenance work in the area until the work is completed in late December.
