Disney's CONTEMPORARY RESORT Information & Questions

Hi! Can someone give me ideas on things we can do at the contemporary during our "resort day"?

We won't be utilizing the pools.

At Poly we walked around the grounds, sat on the beach, roasted marshmallows, and rented a small water craft.

I know that we can also rent a boat at CR, but am not familiar with anything else.. Any tips would be appreciated!

All of those same activities are available at CR also. Plus you could play tennis, sand volleyball, check out the arcade, get a massage. I highly suggest checking out the Recreation section of this thread, posts #12 and #13.

Does the store in Contemporary sell cases of water? I ran through the pictures and I can't tell from the picture if it is the regular size bottles they are selling (about 500 ml) or smaller ones. I read that Beach Club does so I was hoping Contemporary did also. We usually order from Garden Grocer but we won't need much this time and I think we may be able to get most of what we want in the hotel. It will end up costing less.

We will be arriving at the Contemporary Resort on Thursday. I noticed the Sand Bar doesnt have any adult beverages, there is listed a Cove Bar but it states its at BLT pool. Will we have access to this area?

Bay lake tower pool is for the use of guests staying at that location only. There is a gate which requires a room key in order to access.

Many of the same things can be done. This is the location for parasailing, fishing excursions, and fireworks cruises! There is a beach at the Contemporary as well, though it does not face the magic kingdom. There is marshmallow roasting etc all still happen. Here is the LINK for the activities calendar.

I'll be back later, but in the meantime, AllEars is reporting a ten-day rehab extension:

~ The refurbishment of Bay Lake Tower villas has been extended to September 24.

I'm almost positive they do. I know they have gallons of distilled and drinking water as I bought both. Didn't need the drinking water with the 2 fresh bottles left in the room daily was enough for the two of us to get started

We did not have them at Poly in December or YC in February.

Well, maybe they're beta testing this only at CR or as someone speculated on the BWI thread, they're looking to implement a resort fee.

Only 4 months and 22 days until BLT...need some happy thoughts now that my San Antonio Spurs went down in flames to Oklahoma City Thunder! Yes it's been two weeks and we still are depressed in San Antonio ! :rolleyes1

Even less now!

How crowded does Top of the World get?

Bumping your question...

No water worries:

Nice reminder about the bottled waters being left daily in the rooms.

If I can get the silly site to work (CheapTickets), I will be staying at CR in a GW GV room 6/14-6/18. Our 1st stay at CR even though it seems we always start there (I just do a LOT of changing resorts and rooms, etc. before we go and we've never ended up sticking to CR.)

I am excited!! :-)

Hi all! I was just reading a trip report on the club level thread...the poster mentioned in passing that, when they stayed CR Atrium Club in December, there was a club staff member serving the wine. This would be a change from our previous visit. Does anyone know if this change is ongoing? Thanks for any insight! :flower1:

Yes.

HI. We are excited for our stay at CR in late August this year. We've stayed lots of other places but this will be our first stay at CR. Booked tower room with bay lake view for three nights. Anyone else going to be there?

Water mystery continues! We arrived yesterday and had 1L bottle of water in the room with a "complementary" card by it. When we returned from the park just now we have another 1L bottle! Also, we have what seems like lots of extra toiletries, dental kits with toothbrushs (we have 4 of these now) mouthwash, lotion, large shampoo, conditioner and shower gel, facial soap, body soap.

The Dreams Unlimited podcast recently noted an experience at a mod resort where Tracy found her room to be lacking shower gel. The manager told her that ALL mods were discontinuing shower gel and brought her premium H2O product. He proceeded to tell her that this was the last bottle of anything they had in the whole resort. Her speculation was that product may be removed altogether. I think it's strange that CR is having the opposite happen. Seems they are rethinking in-room amenities for all of WDW.

Expanding just a bit from what @dansdad posted...

The CM pours started a couple of years ago, (Summer '14) at YC's Regatta Club. At that time, I asked about it at both YC/CL and WL/CL and I was told that it was up to each CL manager to decide whether to have self-service alcoholic drinks continue or replace them with CM pours. Also, I believe that some (maybe all?) CLs may have removed the fridges that held bottles of beer and that beer is also no longer self-service. Now, a CM must open the beer for the guest. It was speculated that this was to ensure onsite consumption and also to better monitor who the actual consumer is.

At this point, it seems self-service is a thing of the past at all CLs. I haven't kept up on whether there are any CLs that still offer self-service pours - does anyone know if any still exist?

Congratulations, @Elandon! If you post your actual dates, I have a log on PAGE 1 where I can add them and you can see who else will be there during your stay - it's called the Log-o-Rail.

Hey Kook! Add me to the trip log!

6/14-6/18 - Garden Wing

It sounds official - congratulations! Your trip will be here before you know it.

It seems consistent now at CR. Would be interesting to know what this beta testing will leading to - implementation at all resorts and/or eventual daily resort fee or ??

Great information, @BlueFairy.

It isn't available through Private Dining, however, it is (or at least it used to be) available in the refrigerated section at the Contempo Café.

Thanks. I just can't find a space to fit Cali Grill in our plans, so was hoping to order sushi on our in room dining night while watching holiday wishes.
Oh well, we'll survive I guess ;)

Could you just grab some sushi from CC on your way back up to your room? You can even store the sushi in your room fridge and then order other items through Private Dining? If you want fresh sushi, you might be able to get that to-go from CA Grill or you can also purchase fresh sushi from the sushi bar near the monorail at Poly and take it to-go.
