So we loved the CR this past trip!! It was always the one place I wanted to stay and it was as amazing as I thought!! (Didn't hurt we were upgraded to club level either :)

For next trip we might be able to book BLT using my inlaws timeshare. When looking at views from blt lakeview they don't look as nice as CR lakeview. Will I love blt just as much as CR?? I would book CR or poly again but can't give up the opportunity to have a cheaper vacation :)

Thanks for more pics Kook but they're making me wish I was back there now :sad1:!

As for the ping pong table...DH & I stumbled on it when we were exploring the resort on our solo visit last October and ended up playing quite a few "friendly" games. We really had such a blast on that trip and can't wait to go back in August with our girls...hoping they like it as much as we did!
They're going to love it. Make sure you take some time to play on the beach which extends all the way down in front of the GW;)

Kook, this last batch of pics are my fav. I spend a lot of time at the pool and beach area. I think its one of the best kept secrets of the deluxe hotels.

A nice drink on the beach then a quick dip in the hot tub:cloud9: then a splash in one of the few remaining deep pools(I have to stand on toes in center)!

Yep, that's the way to do it...

There is a ping pong table inside the "C" at BLT as well. DH and DD had themselves a grand time once we discovered it.

Loving all the pics!

So many fun activities at BLT: The Community Center has computers and a pool table, there's shuffleboard, tennis...

I apologize if this has already been asked, but what are the safety features on the balcony doors? I know DCL has a sort of deadbolt on their verandah doors--do the Contemporary's balcony doors have any similar features?

No problem asking questions here and I apologize for the late response. All the sliding glass doors have two locks: One at the top and one near the handle:

I'm new on this thread, as we have just booked a trip and plan to stay at the contemporary in the fall. I chose a theme park view (as a surprise for my husband and kids as we are celebrating our anniversary and a kid's birthday on this trip), and am already thinking about online check in and the requests that can be made. We went last fall and stayed at Pop and I had found all kinds of great info regarding "where to stay" / "where not to stay", where the best views are, etc. Any information from any contemporary veterans out there as to suggestions for special requests during check in?? TIA!
Welcome to the thread! With a tower room, there really aren't many requests you can make since you're guaranteed a TPV and know what building you'll be in, all views are unobstructed and you'll have a balcony. What's already been posted is about all you can request.

I wouldn't worry much about room requests with a Tower room, other than proximity to CM and if you have a height preference. When not staying CL, I would always request a high floor and we were put on the 11th this last stay. But, we all actually felt that was too high and a lower room would have actually been better, but we were on the BLV side of the Tower. With the TPV, the lower rooms are closer to the parking lot which may not be ideal.

I am loving your pictures, WDWKOOK! Thank you for posting the pool bathroom picture! I was wondering about whether or not there were showers there. We are arriving very early in the day and we are planning on spending several hours at the pool. I like to shower the chlorine out of our hair after swimming, and if our room's not ready, we can shower at the pool before going to eat lunch, etc.

I just looked at My Disney Experience this morning, and we have 43 days to go!

Even less time now!

Awesome pics, KOOK....thanks for sharing :flower3:.

Thank you, mickeynut1:)

How long now until your trip back to WDW? Are you at GF?

Thanks Kook for all the pictures!!!!!! We can't wait for our first stay in 123 more days!!:yay:

You're welcome and it seems like a long way off, but with the nicer weather now, the time will pass more quickly.

The time will go fast and you will be checking into the CR before you know it :cool1:.

Thank you, mickeynut1:)

You're welcome :goodvibes.

I actually have 2 trips booked at the moment. The first one is at the GF the middle of August and the other is December at the Poly. Neither trip is definite, but it's nice to have something booked just in case ;).

How are the plans for your trip with DD coming along?

Kook, what is that drink above the glass of wine?? I really don't drink hard alcohol (prefer beer and wine) but that looks like it would be sweet and tart and yummy!!!

Not sure if this is a good place to post this so if not please redirect me.

I'm staying early May checking out the 6th and will have some items I won't want to take home, purchased just for this trip, but would be happy to leave for an other guest. Is this possible?

Examples - snack tray for city mini we are renting, dish soap to clean bottles, rest of the case of water etc.

I know there are some "pay it forward" threads on here, usually specific to resort. I just did a quick search for CR and didn't see one...maybe you could get it started!! I love this idea

Maybe our August trips overlap? Let me know when it's definite:). The only ADR I've had any trouble getting is for 'Ohana. I don't even really like 'Ohana, but since we're staying there I thought it'd be fun for DD and I to go there for dinner. Even 4.5 months out, there isn't one single dinner ADR available during our 10 nights, except for 9:30! I think this is crazy - it's just 'Ohana for gwarsh sakes.

Margarita on the rocks no salt. I don't drink much so for me it's my vacation drink of choice - simple and refreshing. Some places even offer a 'skinny' version.

No problem at all posting here and welcome.

I assume you're booked at BLT? If you are, a small bottle of dish soap is included in the kitchen so you won't need that during your stay. By posting here, guests who read your post will know that you are willing to give away these items May 5 - May 6 so someone might take you up on your offer and PM you to coordinate. If you don't want anything to go to waste you could purchase the water, as needed, at CR and skip the dish soap. I'm not sure what the snack tray is though.

Thanks! I am staying contemporary but not BLT, so no dish soap for me. The water for the case is the same price as 2/3 bottles at the hotel :/ rather let it go to waste then spend so much extra money. The snack tray attaches to the stroller and allows the child to have a tray in front of them the rental companies don't supply them.

I'm happy to pass them on late on the 5th or before we leave on the 6th!

If no one wants the extra water, you can give it to the luggage check staff. This is what we did last time and they really appreciated it.

It would be great if our trips overlapped ::yes::. I will certainly let you know if/when mine becomes definite. I have it booked with my DH and boys right now, but if it doesn't work out as that, it may turn into a mini girls trip for me :goodvibes.

I'm sorry about Ohana. I know Ohana is very popular, but I can't believe there's no availability over 10 nights . Keep trying as something is bound is show up!

I just returned home from my first stay at BLT! We checked in on Thursday around 1:30pm and our room was ready. We were on the first floor in a 2 bedroom villa. We had standard view booked but ended up with a view of Bay Lake and the Contemporary pool. At first I wasn't thrilled with the idea of being on the first floor but we ended up loving it. We could just step outside our balcony to get to either of the two pools or the contemporary. We were in room 7144.

The room was absolutely amazing. There were 6 of us adults in there and much like the villas at Kidani Village the three full bathrooms really helped when everyone was trying to get dressed. We couldn't find any flaws in the room. Even the pull out sofa was comfortable. The lobby smelled so good too.

I ate lunch at Contempo Cafe on Thursday and it was pretty good for a quick service. We all had breakfast at the Wave on Saturday morning before going to Epcot. I wasn't too impressed with this set up. We had heard a lot of good things about the buffet but found it to be no better than Chef Mickeys which isn't saying a lot. Typical Disney paper bacon. Other than that, we went up to Top of the World twice but only ordered drinks.

On Friday we had a full day cabana booked at Contemporary. It was a little overcast on this day but we still really enjoyed the cabana. We were allowed to choose either one by the quiet pool or by the main pool and we selected the one right in front of the Cove Bar. They come pretty well equipped. We had a TV, iPod charger/speaker, fridge, fruit tray, sodas and waters. There were two big bed like lounge chairs under the cabana and two lounge chairs out front. While we did have the cabana for the full day we didn't use it for the full time because of dinner plans so we ended up leaving around 5pm. In my opinion it was definitely worth the cost and made for a pretty unique experience. The only cons were the obnoxious pool parties in the afternoon and the birds. If you have kids, then the pool party probably won't annoy you. On the other hand, the birds were vicious. They would fly right in and steal chips while we were in the pool. We even saw one bird going through someones bag while they were away. On a side note, there are 4 cabanas there. On Thursday when we checked in only one was in use and then on Friday we were the only group using one. Might have been the weather but it didn't seem necessary to book in advance.

We never used the pool at Bay Lake but stopped by the bar. It definitely looked to be more crowded than the pool at the Contemporary. The water slide definitely looked better at Bay Lake though.

Hope this helps!

Favorite view from BLT?

Going in a couple of weeks and need some advise from folks that have had one, or the other, or both.
We have a studio for week of May 2nd. I know there are some "outside" Lake View rooms that you can actually see the MK from as well as the lake. This is the view I was thinking I would want to try for......however, the more I look at views it seems like the actual "inside" LV rooms, looking over the pool area are pretty sweet as well.

Which do you prefer and why?

What all can you see with inside lake view in the distance? Downtown Disney? Epcot?

Thanks guys! We're getting pretty pumped up over here. :)

I have had all 3 of the lake view. The higher even numbers face CR and Monorail, the lower even numbers have lake and MK view(partial to left) and the inside is lake and pool.

We liked the end outside facing cr. Lots of lake and action to watch. We also prefer the pie shape of the outside rooms. Feels bigger.

However all 3 were beautiful, I don't think there is a bad room.

Full disclosure: I have a TPV booked because I want the pie shape and lake view(can see 7 seas lagoon/gf and poly) with view of castle!!

Obviously everyone is different, but we stayed in the CR tower, lake view, on our first four trips and we loved it. Our last trip we stayed at BLT, lake view, inside the C. And you know what? Depending on the mood I'm in when you're asking me, I might even say that we loved it even more than the CR lake view. We certainly weren't disappointed with it.

Here's a link to another link that has pictures of our room and the view. As I said, we were inside the C. If you get outside the C, facing the Contemporary, I would imagine the view would be very similar to the CR lake view.

This has made me even more excited for our trip in two weeks! We are in a 2br standard view, too. Did you make any room requests?
