Disney's CONTEMPORARY RESORT Information & Questions

Yesterday, I finally finished updating and posting the WL/VWL thread:faint:. Come on over anytime to the NEW THREAD!

Yes, unless they stopped that service in '13 or '14. You can also catch park buses at the MK which is just a short walk from CR.

*** Although they probably wouldn't be running early in the am from MK to HS.

I'm staying at BLT for a conference. It says that odd numbered rooms have a view of Epcot. What do the even numbered rooms have a view of?

All the resorts have early ADR buses if that's why you're asking. More info. is in the TRANSPORTATION section.

I know :) Trying to figure out the easiest and quickest way to get to HS early morning for SWW. Someone suggested catching a bus from TTC (more direct and quicker than the bus from CR since it stops at Poly and GF first?)

Still debating between CR (GW SV) and BWI (SV)...Kook, with the new decor, do all the rooms at BWI have the daybed? It says the SV rooms do on your room info. page, but TouringPlans only has a few labeled as having daybeds...

A definite plus for CR since all rooms have the daybed. (Is it a daybed or a pullout?)

Also, are there any drawers for storage (like a dresser) in the CR rooms? I like the light under the TV, but not as much as I like drawers to put a week's worth of clothes in! ;)

Has anyone timed the monorail trip around the loop? I thought I saw it somewhere, but now I can't remember where...:confused3

I think you might be mixing up BLT with CR:confused3. Usually guests who attend conferences stay only at CR and their room views aren't booked, but are randomly selected shortly prior to check-in. BLT are DVC villas.

CR rooms (in the TOWER only) that are odd numbered and have a Bay Lake View have a view while sitting in bed of Epcot, FW and WL off to the right. Odd numbered CR rooms that are TPV have a view of the MK while sitting in bed.

Odd number BLT villas are the inner villas that face other rooms and face out toward Bay Lake and the pool area.

Even numbered BLT villas are the outer villas that do not face other BLT rooms and face out toward the MK or Bay Lake or CR.

All BWI rooms have a daybed very similar to CR's. There are two sets of drawers at CR - four drawers total:

In the closet:

And in the dresser by the bed and desk area:

My guess is that from the time you board the Resort monorail at CR, until you return, is probably about 20 mins.

Hi, I thought i read somewhere odd numbered rooms in CR TPV that could see the castle from the bed? Is it even?

Yesterday, I finally finished updating and posting the WL/VWL thread:faint:. Come on over anytime to the NEW THREAD! I plan on updating this thread a bit after I return from our next stay in April.

OMG! When in April are you going?

We're heading early/mid April, I'd be happy to send pictures/updates if it's before you are headed there... :)

We're going to be at the Contemporary May 30-June 7th. Can't wait!

Just how large are Contemporary Resort rooms? It's been a really long time since I stayed there, and I don't remember enough to compare to other Disney properties. My memory tells me the room was pretty large, closer to the GF than to the BC.

Some sites show the Contemporary's room size to be 394 sq. ft (Touring Plans, **************.net). WDWinfo on the DIS says the rooms are 422 sq ft. and EasyWDW is in the same range at 420 sq. ft.

The 394 size seems really low, as that puts it very close to the Epcot resorts (~380 or so). I'm thinking it's the larger size. Thoughts?

I just asked this question on the Transportation thread and they said that there is no longer any buses that go from the TTC to a park since now all parks have bus drop off at the gate.

I guess you can take the monorail to MK and take the bus to HS. I guess it is probably the same.

Yeah, I read it backwards. My online check-in says Tower, Bay Lake View, not Bay Lake Tower. D'oh! So if odd numbered rooms look at Epcot from the bed, what do the even numbered rooms look at?

At least according to the transportation page, courtesy of the all-knowing KOOK ( :) ), buses for people with dining reservations start running at 7:00

Well, Disney calls it a daybed. But I confess I don't know what the difference is between that, and a pullout.

Yes, there are large drawers, (three?), next to the "desk". And two closets. (The safe is in one of them). And I think both closets have three drawers, in them.

Just booked 4 nights in July, then headed to the Dream. Just DH and I - first trip w/o kids in about 25 years!

The OP asked about EVEN rooms and I inadvertently wrote EVEN instead of ODD in my post:blush:. You're correct so thank you for noticing my error:)

We actually arrive in March, but don't return home till April so I'll be updating the thread sometime in the beginning of April, but thank you for offering.

420 SF is the most common estimate. YC/BC rooms are much smaller at about 380 SF and WL/AKL the smallest Deluxes. CR rooms are closest in size to Poly and GF rooms are the largest at around 440 SF.

Yes, even numbered TPV rooms face the castle.
:thumbsup2

The information I had was from 2012 so thank you for posting the most current information.

When sitting in bed, the EVEN numbered rooms on the BLV side of the Tower face toward BLT.

That is so exciting! What a wonderful vacation you're going to have and I'll log your dates if you want to post them:)

Popping in this thread to say hi! My dh has a work conference in April at CR. We are going KID-FREE!!!!!!!!!!!!! Haven't been on a WDW trip w/o kiddos ever and haven't traveled without the kids in about 12 years and that was a very brief trip. I am so stinking excited!!!

It just came up yesterday so I am trying to figure out what we'll do. I'd like to do some special things that we wouldn't normally do with our 4 kiddos. Suggestions appreciated :goodvibes

We'll be there 4/22-26

I've always thought California Grill was a great place for an adult dinner.

I hear there's some great places, over at GF. But I havent been to them.

Our first stay at the contemporary is coming up in 45 days! I can't wait. We have a bay lake tower room booked. Any requests I should make?? Is it better to do online check in or wait till we get there??

I think it depends on the room type?

Online check in is always better! Have fun... We'll be there in 5 days!
