From the Room/Rates section of this FAQ:

"When lying on the bed... Odd-numbered Magic Kingdom View beds face toward the MK."

On-line check-in allows you to request "Odd Number Room" :cool1:

Confused. What do even-numbered mkv rooms face?

They are all just talking about being able to lay on your bed and see the MK. The even number when you lay in bed you see the TTC and Poly,

From the balcony ALL the Theme Park view rooms face the MK and 7 Seas Lagoon.

Thank you for clarifying! I am new to everything about CR so I appreciate it.

We are staying at Contemporary resort for the first time. Stayed at WL last few times and felt like a switch. Looking forward to it. Aug 22-25.

We are staying August 6th-12th for our 4th Disney trip. Have stayed previously twice at the Poly & once at the Hilton on property. I always requested a certain longhouse during online checkin at the the Poly, but I'm not sure what I need to know about staying at the CR. We are staying in the tower and have the lake view room & are a family of 5. Any advice would be greatly appreciated!

Brenda
Welcome to the thread, Brenda! I'll add your dates to the Log-orail. The Tower BLV is our favorite view at WDW. Unlike Poly, your room is guaranteed to have a balcony and an unobstructed view. When not staying CL, some like to request a "high floor." If you are sensitive to the CM Celebration song, you might want to request to be "far away from Chef Mickey's."

Thank you. Just did it! So fun.
In Feb. we got to try out FP+ for the first time, but did not have park admission until we got down there, so didn't get to book FPs in advance.
So fun to plan a week's worth of attractions from home :cheer2:
Did you book plenty of 7DMT FPs? Can't wait to try it out in a couple of weeks.

Posted in another thread, but figure if ask here too:

Can anyone update me in the pool situation? Will be there in a month, and I remember a while ago them talking about the pools closing or being off limits after certain hours, but I have not kept up with the news.

We are night swimmers and understand there usually us no lifeguard which is fine for us. But I would hate to come back from a long day at the parks and find the pool completely closed.

We will be at Bay Lake. Thanks!
What has changed is that the feature pools are now closed when a lifeguard isn't present. I assume this is the case at CR as it was at WL in December. Generally, the pools close in the warmer months at 11 when the lifeguard leaves. However, the quiet pools that don't have lifeguards, remain open.

This http://www.disunplugged.com/2012/07/09/the-return-of-resort-specific-merchandise-at-disney/ is from last July. In the last paragraph it mentions that the CR didn't seem to have any resort specific items. Anyone know if this has changed in the past year?
There still weren't any in December, but I'm going to check again in a couple of weeks. I'll post my findings or lack thereof:(

I finally worked out my trust issues with strangers online and I rented points for 8 nights at a studio lake view in BLT April 2015. This is my first trip to WDW and I'm so excited for it.
Congratulations. Your bolded comment above would make a great tag:rotfl:

Also thinking of dropping WL for CR. Am I correct that some theme park views are really just mostly parking lot? Wondering if it is really worth the money if all bay lake views are consistently good?
Welcome to the thread! We prefer the BLV because it gives the illusion that there isn't anything but water and birds beyond the marina area, but some just love waking up to the castle each morning and watching it change colors at night. At night, you would hardly notice the parking lot below. You can also watch Wishes from your balcony each night. But, with a BLV you can watch the EWP each night.

The views are really, really cool but I guess some people might focus on the parking lots...
Wonderful photos and thank you for posting them, johnsonet.

Welcome to the thread and I'll log your dates on the first page. Change can be lots of fun, but are you sure you don't need to do a split stay?;)

Have planned this trip for months but we've been building a house, then my son graduated from HS shortly after we moved in. Finally, I can concentrate on our first time at Contemporary Resort. Soooo looking forward to this! After 30+ Disney trips, finally we are at CR. :cool1: Not looking forward to the summer crowds though! :cool2:

What kind of coffee is served at the Contempo Cafe? Is it still Nescafe?

Headed back to the Contemporary late July. Given that I am a tea drinker,
I don't pay attention to the coffee. My sister, however, is back on caffeine! :-)

Thanks!

This will be our first stay at a Deluxe Resort. Staying at the Contemporary in the Garden wing from 11/13-11/20. So excited to be staying in a "monorail" resort for the first time. Have stayed at Art of Animation, Port Orleans Riverside, and All Star Movies in the past so this feels like an exciting upgrade for my family. My wife and 3 kids are thrilled.

Staying at Bay Lake Towers for the first time from 08/26-09/02 (2 previous trips in the 80s at Contemporary) with my wife, parents and 3 year old. So excited to be taking him to the place my folks took me at his age. Quick question I may have missed earlier in this thread. Everyone says a huge advantage is the MK is an easy walk, but something about taking the monorail that first day is to magical to avoid. How long is the walk from BLT to the monorail station in The Contemporary? Hard to judge the distance of that walkway from the pics.

It is Joffreys now :)

We just got back from BLT and it is not a long walk at all. I enjoyed the sky bridge because on one side you can see the castle and space mountain and on the other side is a view from the lake. We watched Wishes from there quite a few nights! You will love BLT!

Thank you Bama Belle! :thumbsup2

Joffrey's has got to be better than the last option. She'll be pleased to hear that!

From outside appearances it looks like undiscounted Contemporary rooms start at about $500 a night. What sort of discounts can a person theoretically hope or expect to find and how much is the final cost per night after those are factored in?

The usual discounts are either; general public, Disney VISA, annual passholder, or Florida resident. For the deluxe resorts the discounts vary between 25%-35%. There are often exclusions such as three bedroom villas or brand new resorts (like AOA or the Villas at the GF.) If you Google (don't have the link on my iPhone) Mousesavers Historical Discounts it will show you the last few years, which discounts were released, when, and for which dates!

Thanks Bama Belle! Did you find you walked to the MK or took the monorail more often?

We went to Disney World in May and while we loved the Wilderness Lodge, I really want to stay at a monorail resort. Neither my husband or I have stayed at the Contemporary but would like to! We are trying to plan a trip for next fall, ideally September or October, and are looking to stay 8-10 days. I've done some research but want some "real world experiences." When is the cheapest time to go, and if you've stayed at the Contemporary about how much was it? I am just looking at a ball park figure, ie for room and 7 day tickets we paid $xxxxx. Thanks!

I've been searching through the thread regarding cabana rentals, and so far I've gathered that they used to all be by the Bullseye pool, and now some are there and some are at the main pool. So all the cabanas are at the CR not at BLT?

We are staying at BLT, so we're considering this, but I had a few additional questions I couldn't find clear answers to. It says standard cabanas with amenities can be booked in advance. What are the amenities and how much do these cabanas cost? It also said standard cabanas without amenities are on a walk up basis. What is included in these cabanas, and how much are they? Are they in high demand (like how early would you need to "walk up" to be able to get one?) Lastly, where in the pool area are the cabanas located? Does anyone have pictures?

Thanks so much!! :goodvibes:goodvibes
