Disney's CONTEMPORARY RESORT Information & Questions

3 nights were available until a few days ago..I had a "hold" on one. Let that go while I was making final decision. Decided on CR tpv 2 days later and all of the sudden now it's 4 nights min. 12/3-12/6 show not available. 12/3-12/7 show available. Crazy
Are you looking online, or have you called and spoken to someone directly? I've never heard of this, at any resort. DH and I went for 2 nights in Feb, and CR TPV was one of the options we were considering, so no minimum required then. May just be a glitch?

I've looked online, called, booked the lake view, and then booked again through a travel agent and cancelled my original reservation, and she has called a few times as well. We have tried everything. It's not a standard rule...bc the week before my cruise (Thanksgiving) It's available for even 1 night. That is why I'm so angry. A few days ago they imposed this rule for that specific week...which both myself and my travel agent have been told that because it is directly from the CR that there is nothing a reservation agent can do about it

I apologize if this has already been posted, but I assure you I did try to find this info, without luck.

What are the room numbers that face the MK and which numbers face the bay? We are planning to book the tower, and while I have found a floor plan with room numbers for the Tower Club level, I haven't seen anything for the lower floors.

We just booked our trip for this summer...July 16-20 Atrium Club TPV. Please add us to the Log-o-rail!

I think I understand your question, and if I don't I apologize. What it sounds like you're asking is what room request do you make so you face the MK and not Bay Lake, correct? If so, then that's not a room request. There are two categories of rooms that you can book. The Theme Park View category, in which you pay more to have your room face MK; and the Bay Lake View category, in which you pay less to have your room face Bay Lake. Hope that helps!

I've seen this for years, and at all levels of resorts at Disney, and for different types of discounts. (I.e., if you look for x number of days - usually less than a week - no availability or not for your preferred category. Then, if you add a day or two or more to the start or end of the original search, all of a sudden there's availability - even during those days for which it previously said no availability).

Disney must have an algorithm that predicts longer stays are less likely to cancel, or are easier to schedule, I don't know, but this is very common in my experience.

My travel agent said she has never seen it this way before. What is so infuriating is this-- my dates are 12/3-12/6. TPV (tower) is available for 12/3-12/5, OR 12/3-12/7. But NOT for 12/3-12/6.
When you have seen this before do the rooms normally open back up? That's what I'm hoping for.. I don't want to switch to BLT.

You booked the extra day, correct, through the 7th to get the TPV room? If so has your travel agent tried calling and modifying the reservation to take the extra day off?

You can't do that anymore. To drop a night there would have to be availability for a new reservation with the new dates. Which in the OPs case there is no availability for the dates they want.

Hmmm...haven't heard that, but then again I've never come across this situation before either. I've always been able to add or take away dates unless it was a limited discount rate, but I think OP said she was booking rack rate. Oh well, just trying to help!

Yes, you used to be able to do just that. This is a new policy change, that they started about 8 months ago. This is for booking rack rates or discounts. Most people don't know about this which is why I mentioned it. I know you were just trying to help. :thumbsup2

We weren't able to do that. They said reservations weren't allowed to be modified when a room had restrictions. So for now I have the lake view booked hoping that this will change

Hey, you're never to old to learn something new, right!

I'm getting so excited about my trip!!! Less than a month now! Anyway, I'm wondering about laundry. We have a TPV room in the tower. I usually do laundry once or twice during our trips. How much of a trek will it be with all those dirty clothes?? Thanks!!!

OK, this is in the realm of "I must be crazy to consider this". I know I want a TPV view in the Tower when we go, and I was thinking that once we see the rates for our travel dates, we could see if we could swing the Atrium Club. But now that I know that there are standard rooms up on the Tower Club level, I was wondering what the difference in price would be to get that bigger balcony, and whatever extra amenities come with being on that floor. I might be just punishing myself here, but does anyone know?

So far, I only found laundry rooms in the garden wing and bay lake tower.
You might need to bring your laundry back and forth in a wheeled suitcase.

Well, they got me. I've been checking daily and now even more rooms are showing not available. And only tpv from 12/3-12/7. I just contacted my travel agent to change my dates/room.
So, I'll be keeping my son out of school one more day..and a larger chunk out of the bank account... :(
What we do for our children.......lol

What a fun December! I'll add your dates to our Log-o-Rail. Are you talking about the Holiday Wishes fireworks? You can see all MK fireworks from all CR TPV rooms.

I just added another night bc of all of the issues getting another TPV reservation. So my dates are now 12/3-/12/7 :)
