Resort Thread Disney's Club Level (CL) Thread

Disney Club level friends I need your prayers. Yesterday I received news that I have cancer. It is funny how one word can somehow change your whole life in a second. It is an aggressive cancer and my doctor told my husband and I, that I need to meet with an oncologist ASAP. Needless to say we chose to cancel our Disney vacation that was to begin today through next week. We just did not want to take a chance of missing an appointment to meet with an oncologist and begin my fight.

I have so many emotions right now as I write this. Those of you with upcoming vacations, please post pictures of the magic for me. Pray for me and most of all enjoy every minute of this precious life we are given.

May the optimistic spirit you had before the surgery reenergize your recovery.

May the doctors and health care providers discern exactly what is needed to optimize your journey.

May family and friends offer what is most beneficial to your return to wholeness.

May you give yourself the time, patience, and strength to best make it through this unforeseen setback.

May you know even in the moments of doubt that there are always arms around you.

We always stick with HRC. It is right next to Universal Studios and a very short walk (5 minutes), boat ride to Islands of Adventure if required. We always walk as it is right past the Hard rock restaurant and the sights of City Walk.

Portofino Bay is lovely but father away and quite a large resort with lots of walking within the resort area. It is not in walking distance to either park. We often visit but never decide to stay there in the end.

Thanks you. Do all the resorts (hard Rock, royal pacific and portofino) have balconies? Portofino looks SO pretty. Have you stayed at royal pacific? I'm excited that I will at least have CL there.

No balconies. I think there might be a handful of rooms at Portofino that have a terrace of some sort, but by and large, the Universal hotels are balcony-free zones, sadly.

We’ve stayed at all three and have done CL at all three (as recently as this past December), so if you have any specific questions, ask away !

Awesome, thank you! Are all 3 CL relatively the same? Any of the hotels have something that makes it better then the others? I have lots of questions but can't think clearly at the moment. I will be back with them, thanks for the help.

I found Portofino to have the most space by far for their lounge. The service there is what I would call politely reserved. They have the most selection I would say in terms of food (for example, a small salad bar area for dinner). HRH is super fun but definitely more boisterous in vibe. The food is more “finger food” like chicken skewers. RPH was good, but honestly I have never eaten such salty food at Universal, and that’s saying a lot. The service was good at all three. We like HRH for the proximity to the parks and the overall vibe (it’s my kid’s first choice every time) but my personal favourite for a more laid-back atmosphere is definitely Portofino.

The doctor is going to remove the cancerous area on the inside of my cheek and due to the depth of the mass; is also going to remove my salivary gland and lymph nodes on the left side of my neck. I'm glad you have a game plan. Praying it's not in the nodes and you only need monitoring. April 30th is a good day.

This is giving me so much hope. I’m sure we will hear from you before your procedure (we’d better!) but I’m so glad to hear how quickly they can get you in and what is involved. I hope you’re feeling well day to day!

Disney Club Level Family, Thank you so much for your kind words, support, and prayers. I had a scan yesterday of my neck and chest. Monday morning I meet with the head and neck cancer specialist at Vanderbilt Hospital. DH and myself are in awe of how fast Vanderbilt got the ball rolling for me. Everything just fell in place. We definitely made the right decision to postpone our Disney trip. I will keep you posted and thank you again for your prayers, support, and love. I definitely feel them.

This morning, DH and I decided to rebook the Disney trip we had to cancel last week. We are planning to visit the happiest place on Earth four weeks after my cancer surgery. I was even able to get all the restaurants we originally had booked.
