Resort Thread Disney's Club Level (CL) Thread

I need to gloat/celebrate/do a victory dance somewhere and I think DH would slay me for telling the 8 year old this far out.

Booked 4 nights in a standard CL room at the Beach Club and then 3 nights in a Main Building Theme Park View Room CL at the Grand Floridian for our summer trip. I'm so happy I could burst.

What a great split, the best of both worlds! Happy planning :wizard:.

We are going to the Daytona 500 to kick off my big birthday celebration in July. The BWI didn't have any availability so we are heading back to the Beach Club CL.

Sounds like an awesome birthday trip! Have fun planning :).

I've noticed it's getting much harder to get reservations at BWI CL. Guess the word about how wonderful it is has gotten out!:D

I agree about it getting harder to book BWI CL. I am contemplating going for a long weekend in May and noticed very limited availability under the new discount. I did find both a standard and deluxe CL room available, but that was after playing with dates a bit. I haven't booked anything yet as it's not a for sure thing, but now I'm thinking maybe book just in case because it might be gone if I wait :rolleyes1.

I emailed WL IPO to ask about construction and they confirmed the elevator closures and said the lounge will be in the vice presidential suite.

Thanks for this information :flower3:.

I know there was some confusion on whether or not you can use the lounge for the whole day if checking into another non-cl room. I can say beyond a shadow of a doubt that you can. I 've done it three times this year. Most recently in December when we stayed at AKL CL and then switched to the poly non cl. Our bands opened the poly door and allowed us up to the akl cl on the 6th floor

Thanks for checking into that. It will be very inconvenient to have the lobby elevator shut down while we are there. :(

How is the experience of viewing Wishes from the CR CL? Does the CL lounge there have the music from Wishes piped in? Can you get the music in the CL rooms that have a theme park view?

And how does this compare to the Poly CL Wishes viewing experience?

Still thinking about viewing Wishes this past weekend from the California Grill terrace with cocktail in hand, just before sitting down to dinner - so magical!

Hey all. I set up a new account. I'm formerly known as VbChristy. :) just wanted to re-introduce myself to the group! (Now I just have to find all the groups I followed and get them over here!!)

Carry on and Happy planning!

What are the dates of that elevator closure?
I contacted WL IPO and they said that the lobby and south wing elevators at the WL will be closed beginning Jan 5th until further notice. So they don't seem to have an estimate of when they will reopen.

Both are great IMHO, but different. The CR CL has the music piped into the three "balconies" that are part of the lounge. They might also play it in the lounge itself, I'm not sure - we always were on the balconies. Pros are you can be outside, you're much closer to the fireworks than Poly, feels like you're more in the middle of the magic. Cons are that you are watching the fireworks off center, although I don't think that's too big a deal personally. I was worried the balconies would be packed for fireworks but they weren't when we were they (first week of December last year), could be different other times of year. If you want to watch from your TPV room, I've read there is a TV channel you can use that plays the music although didn't hear about this until after we stayed there so can't personally confirm.

Poly CL Wishes viewing is the "direct" view, which is a pro. A con for me watching from the Poly lounge is being inside...you just don't get the same fireworks "boom" as being outside. I'd rather be watching from my CL TPV room balcony or down on the beach, but that might just be me. I also don't like how Poly CL doesn't turn the lights off/down during Wishes...and you may have noise/chatter from the lounge guests. But those are small nits. It's a direct view of MK fireworks - what can be better?

The Polynesian has a nice view of the fireworks, but to be perfectly honest, there's nothing on property anywhere that compares to the view from the Contemporary. Remember how magical it felt to watch the fireworks from California Grill? Well that's the exact same view you'll get from both CR CL lounges (Atrium and Tower Clubs), as well as the view you'll have from your theme park view room if that's what you book. The fireworks are so close and personal from the Contemporary that there are always a few car alarms going off from the resort's parking lot each evening because of the booms. That should tell you something! And yes, both CL lounges dim the lights and play the music during the fireworks. If you're staying on the 14th floor, you can also hear the music being piped in from California Grill right above you. I imagine on the balcony of the 12th floor lounge you can most likely hear it, too, so you'll get music from two sources. If you'd prefer to watch them from your own room's balcony, there is in fact a channel on your TV that plays the music. It's an experience that none of the other deluxe resorts, nice as they all are, can offer.

I just wanted to say how excited I am to be celebrating my 35th birthday and first girls weekend jan8-11 at AKL CL!! Also very excited that I got a res for 7:20 at Cali Grill Friday night! Fingers crossed we get a good table for an unforgettable trip!

Ewoks, thanks so much for this information. It's really helpful as I daydream about my return to WDW for NYE 2016! This past trip we stayed in the CR GW, which was great. The convenience to the MK was amazing. Our flight arrived at MCO at 9AM and we were on Main Street by 11:30AM. Sounds like CR CL, Theme Park view would just be wonderful...

Need advice on choosing a resort CL that I'd like to book in the next couple hours. We have it narrowed down to either YC CL standard view or AKL CL savanna view.

Points of consideration:
- one night stay, check in this Sunday and check out Monday (we're somewhat local to the area)
- two adults, two kids (ages 5 and 2)
- we have APs, but going to a park is of no priority. If we do YC, we may wander over to Epcot for a drink or two. If we do AKL, we most likely won't leave the resort.
- we stayed AKL CL last year (loved it!) and stayed YC before kids (not CL) seven years ago and also thoroughly enjoyed it.

I read a couple posts up that they are just starting YC CL room renovations. Should we take a risk with the YC and experience a new CL and maybe deal with renovation inconvenience and the chance of Disney asking us to switch to a different resort (which we'd be okay with)? Or should we stick with what we know at AKL and hope to have another great stay? It's a $9 difference between the two, so obviously price is of no concern, lol.

We did consider BW CL standard room, but the rate is over $100 than what we paid last year for AKL CL (same discount, same time of year/seasonal price bracket). I don't think BW is worth that much more, but maybe I'm wrong.

Any advice/experience/thoughts/opinions? Help us decide!

Heading to the Beach Club CL in just 43 more day!! It has been so hard to get a room at the BW with my cast discount, but I have come to really like the Beach Club. Love the spacious lounge and still go over to visit my family at the Innkeeper's club. Going to celebrate our 44th anniversary on the 18th of February!! One day I may get surprised and get a room there again. Hope to get a room at the BWI for our Dec. trip. Going to try later today once I have dates figured out!

Congrats on getting CG! Have a great trip! :yay:

I agree! I am considering booking this for December, splitting with either Poly CL or AKL CL :).

I can't give an opinion on whether or not BWI CL is worth an extra $100, but it does get great reviews and has a lot of followers. We've never tried CL at either AKL or YC, but we have had 2 great stays at AKL and love the resort. YC CL might be nice to try for something different, but if it were me, I'd go back to AKL CL (but that's just me).

Here are some photos from CR Tower Club (14th floor) I took in October. I hadn't posted them here yet because I've always had issues posting photos for some reason, so here's hoping they'll show up. These were taken at night, so the lounge looks darker than it normally would. It's very bright and welcoming during the day. I'm also including a photo of the fireworks view from the lounge's balcony. The balconies on the 14th floor are significantly larger than those on the other floors at CR, including the Atrium Club's on the 12th floor, so there's plenty of room. I rarely saw others in the lounge during the entire week we were there. Even at peak times you'll likely have the place to yourself most of the time. It's very lovely.

Thank you so much for sharing these AWESOME photos! I have always wondered what the lounge looked like up on 14! :D

I'm not sure what the current conditions are like at the YC CL, but typically I avoid refurbishments if I can help it. Since it's just one night I guess it really wouldn't matter. I'd probably do the YC just so I could snoop around and try to see the changes. :D

I just updated the Guest List on page 1! If anyone needs to be added send me a PM! :D

Do the Contemporary Club level rooms get the AP discount ever? (As opposed to being excluded because they are so popular, etc.)
