Resort Thread Disney's Club Level (CL) Thread

I'm debating what to book for Christmas this year. I'm leaning towards Sugarloaf right now. I really like being close to MK and the GF has such beautiful decorations. AP rates are out and they are OK, not as good as I hoped. Six nights (12/18-12/24) with my AP is $4165. Not sure what I want to do about 12/24 and 12/25 yet since there aren't any discounts for those dates. Might have to go down to a moderate, or go home. There's no way I'm paying $1000 per night. Unless I hit the lottery by then! :rotfl:

When we booked over Christmas we only got a discount for our first night, Dec 23rd :scared1: That was painful, but I expected it and am looking forward to the trip and trying the CR. Then I looked around at all of the monorail resorts out of curiosity after we booked the CR, and the deluxe king room that we stayed in at the GF a year ago was $1300 a night for Dec 23-29 :scared1::scared1::scared1: I loved the room and view, but that's ridiculous.

just finished booking our next trip! We're doing Halloween to Christmas! Checking in the Poly Club 10/30 and staying until 11/9. already have our tickets for MNSSHP and MVMCP!

At BC now - I thought the wine/beer guard would be annoying, but they have been great. One guy was even trying to push beer on people - so sad that he had no takers!

Also, I asked the concierge for the texting number for the 4th fast pass and she looked at me like I had three heads and told me that it was Limited Time Magic and they're not doing it anymore. I haven't asked anyone else.

We'll be staying at the ploy CL in a few weeks, our first time CL level and at Poly! I'm getting excited. So in reading the last few pages I was wondering do the lounges serve mixed drinks or just beer/ wine? I really like a good Bloody Mary or mojito, but wine gives me a headache. I might have to track one down somewhere......it is vacation :)

And yes, I pack my Clorox wipes too! And a large ziplock bag for the tv remote, there's no amount of wiping that can get that clean, so in the bag it goes:)

Just returned from our first encounter with the "alcohol guard" at SL. You could grab a beer relatively easily, but had to wait in line for them to pour the wine. Would be faster if they had someone "monitoring" the cart if the intent is to ensure folks don't go crazy.

No mixed drinks in CL, only beer, wine, and some evening cordials. Poly CL does put out an alcoholic fruity drink in the evenings - I'm not sure exactly what's in it but for me it's 1) way too sugary and 2) not strong enough!

Good thing about the Poly is that you have so many other places to get a good mixed drink just steps away from the Hawaii building... pool bar, Tambu lounge, Trader Sams (inside and patio). Only downside is I "think" the first bar to open is the pool bar at 11AM, so you're out of luck for a bloody mary before that (someone can correct me if I'm wrong). My wife had a mojito from Trader Sam's in June and thought it was very good.

As someone else said, there aren't any mixed drinks, but I sometimes pick up a bottle of sweet and sour mix to make my own Amaretto Sour using the Disaronno they put out during cordial time (add a slash of Sprite). But I like sweet drinks, which is why I loved the Island Sangria they serve at the Poly. I honestly don't think it was very strong either. I drank about three glasses and it seemed the equivalent of a glass of wine. One thing I didn't think to try is mixing a glass of Island sangria with the Disaronno! The Amaretto Sours they made when I was working at a bar&grill in college had a splash of pineapple juice in them too, so this might be really good:) I know the Stormalong Bay Breeze at BC CL was delicious mixed with the Disaronno, and I could taste pineapple in that! Just a thought. BTW, great idea about the remote in the ziplock bag! I'll probably use that one in October!

:) I will try and post when I return and during the trips! My first CL stay is at GF late September. I'm weird about putting my official dates in a log... My name isn't secretive enough. Then just a 2 night stint at BWI before your trip. I look forward to trying out the various club levels! :)

Hope you have a great time! Enjoy trying the different CLs :wizard:.

Sounds like an awesome trip! The parties are a lot of fun, enjoy :goodvibes

We haven't tried CL at the Poly, but the resort itself is amazing, I hope you have a great time :goodvibes.

Hi all! Joining thread. Will be staying CL AKL 11/3-11/7. Can't wait!!

Your trip will be here before you know it :wizard:.

Erika, hope you are feeling better! It seemed bad enough for the birthday guy to have been sick, and it is such a bummer to have to come home from a trip and then be sick on top of it. Thanks for all you do to maintain the thread on top of all the other things going on for you!

I just realized that I never logged my dates with you. I'll be staying at Sugarloaf from August 28th to September 8th 2015, with the last part of the trip shared with my great pals Lauren and Christy who will drive in from Georgia to join me. Lauren's husband has his own air conditioning business, so he can't travel at this time of year but was gracious in allowing Christy and me to borrow her for a bit. I was originally booked for the OFC when I had my brilliant idea to make a girls trip out of part of my stay. I would have needed a deluxe room at WL for the three of us but it was quite a bit more expensive than the regular room and since neither of them had ever stayed at the Grand I was luckily able to switch my bounceback stay to the Grand. This is also my first time in many trips not doing a split stay and I'm looking forward to just settling in and not having a moving day in the middle of the trip.

11 days at Sugar Loaf, and girls-only at the end??? That sounds like heaven! :cloud9::cloud9::cloud9: I love a nice long trip with no moving, you can really settle in and unpack. After splitting between 3 resorts last week I'm ready for my next stay to be at one place. I've got a Sugar Loaf room on hold for Christmas and I'm really thinking that's going to be our spot. Part of me really wants to get back to the BC again, but nothing really compares to Christmas at the GF. You'll have to come back and let us know how your trip was. I would love to go down with a group of girlfriends sometime, if I could ever get them away from their husbands. :lmao:

I have been very lucky this year with girlfriend trips. Lauren and Christy said yes in a heartbeat, but I had also been waiting forever for my best friend to join me for a trip. She always felt like she couldn't justify the expense for her and her husband, and she felt like it wouldn't be fair to him to go without him. I'd issued many invitations that she hadn't taken me up on, but then her husband told her she should absolutely join me, so she surprised the heck out of me when she said yes when I asked her to do a Disneyland trip for my birthday. We had the best time ever, got about a million fabulous Photopass pictures, and loved every minute of everything we did. The best part was that when we got home she said she would be joining me every year from now on for an annual trip. My devious plan finally came to fruition! :woohoo: We are getting a little bit older and realize that there is no time like the present for all of these moments.

I hope I'll have time to do a trip report, we'll see how regular life swings. Certainly there will be many photos!

I agree about the GF for Christmas. :cloud9: It is the most magical with the tree and the music and the Gingerbread House, not to mention the special gingerbread smell for that time of year. Of course this is definitely in the category of no bad choices.

I have begged various friends of mine to go with me to WDW over the years but nobody will leave their kids. :rolleyes2 Maybe I'm just a horrible mother but I travel without my boys at least a couple of times a year and I don't see a problem with it. I literally have friends who have NEVER left their children since the day they were born. :crazy2: I just don't understand it.

Oh, and don't even get me started on the SPORTS schedules! It's like they're deathly afraid they'll miss their kid kick a ball or something. :rotfl:

My best friend and I traveled together a lot and had many adventures before she married. I have really missed traveling that way, and I am so glad that we get to make more moments.

All the kinds of trips are different and fabulous and special in their own ways - family, friends, Mom and me trips, even the solo trips where you get to make new travel friends. I hope there will be more opportunities as the kids get older! Sports schedules are brutal. I drive by a community field on my way home from work, and feel for all the people standing out in the rain and cold watching soccer matchs, not to mention the muddy cold kids. My friends whose kids went arts rather than sports seemed to have it a little easier.

I'm actually a bit torn between theme park view and sugar loaf because they're both the same exact price. Watching Holiday Wishes from our room would be amazing! :D But I know my kids would miss the lounge.
You can watch wishes on the property though right? I would probably go with CL and then stroll the property to catch wishes... Good luck with your decision.

Yes, there are lots of places around the GF where you can see Wishes. But there is something extra magical about seeing the castle from your bed. :D

Poly CL does put out an alcoholic fruity drink in the evenings - I'm not sure exactly what's in it but for me it's 1) way too sugary and 2) not strong enough!

A CM told me that it is POG juice, white wine, and a little bit of Cointreau.

She saw me mixing white wine with the juice cocktail mix and told me the above info because she thought I didn't know that there was already alcohol in there. I don't drink a lot, but it was too sugary and weak for me. It needed extra wine in it.

:wave:Hi Everybody! What a great thread!!! We are staying DVC (rented) club level at AKV for the last two nights of our Jan trip and I am sooooo excited for it, I have no idea how I will stand the waiting!:bored: We haven't been fortunate enough to stay club level in MANY years.

So I do have a question for those in the know... We were hoping to arrive around 9ish the morning of check in and enjoy the lounge before heading off to AK for a few hours and then on our day of checkout our flight doesn't leave until 9:30 PM and we would love to hang in the lounge for the late afternoon and early evening. I know that this is ALLOWED but my question is, Is it annoying or frowned upon by the CM's? I saw in the beginning of this thread that someone said something to the effect of "don't sit there for 2 hours drinking wine, move along so others can have a seat also".:tiptoe: Is this the general attitude/atmosphere in the lounge? I don't want CM's or other guests rolling their eyes at us if we hang out there for a few hours.... TIA for your opinions:thanks:

Welcome to the CL thread :flower3:.

As far as spending a lot of time in the lounge, go and have a great time and don't worry about it. You paid for CL and can spend as much time in the lounge as you want :goodvibes. We don't stay CL every trip but when we do, it's more for the lounge and having another place to sit and relax than the food offerings. I love sitting in the lounge taking in the atmosphere of the resort. With that said, a lot of people who have later flights spend that last day at the resort taking advantage of the lounge and food offerings before they have to head to airport. I would go and enjoy everything AKL CL has to offer :wizard:.
