Resort Thread Disney's Club Level (CL) Thread

I love this! I haven't stayed CL since 2008. By those calculations our trip should be about 3 weeks! Fuzzy Disney Math at its best.

That would be one great trip! :goodvibes

Fuzzy Disney Math makes it possible to rationalize so MANY wonderful things... :stitch2:

::yes::

Just booked our next Disney trip- love it because we are now planning on two- gotta love Disney rationale! Please add us to BWI CL for Nov 25-Dec 3.

It's always fun having more than 1 trip in the works! Enjoy the planning and have a great trip :wizard:.

Hey CL friends, I just wrote up a post on our blog about why couples visiting WDW should consider staying CL. I figured I'd share since all of us here know how necessary CL is. :rotfl: It's http://www.wdwfor2.com
Actually that was super helpful to this first timer WDW CL traveler! There were a couple things in there I didn't know, and I'm an avid researcher. Also... "Want a beer at 11:30 in the morning just for the hell of it? Here ya go" :rotfl2:

I agree it was a great blog post!
And I know I am never trying to say no to the welcome cocktail when I arrive by 9:30am from MCO. As a previous poster pointed out to me... there's juice in it. It qualifies for am consumption

hello all! wondering how many people have utilized DSS to make their 180 day dining and how did it go? My 180 day is Monday and Mondays are typically not an easy day in my house because, well, its Monday  and while I know I'll probably be awake long before 6:00 a.m. the worries about the system being down or glitching is already stressing me out.

I meant to post this when I got back last month but one thing I don't think has been mentioned very much is that Poly CL had the "texting service" when I was there in Feb. This appears to be the same texting service they offered at GF and some other CLs last year. Not sure if they are doing this in all CLs now?

Anyways, it's pretty much like having a direct texting line to a concierge. I'm not sure if it's DSS or a CL desk CM on the other end? I got the impression it was a desk CM. Someone please correct me if I'm wrong.

This service used to be more useful when you couldn't make 4th FPs on the app yourself, but I still used it this trip a few times for searching, making, or cancelling ADRs while on the go. Much easier than having to stop and mess with the app, especially when I was changing reservations within 24 hours where you otherwise have to call to cancel.

I tend to plan or move things around somewhat on the fly, so I actually really like this service! They were always very timely with a response.

One thing to note, the texting service was not explained to me at check-in, although that may have been because I said I had been there before so we didn't go through the regular CL intro. I only happened to notice it on the CL info sheet. See below - very easy to miss!

I have used the texting service in the past at the GF and YC. It was not available in August either at the GF or Poly. It used to go to IPO so I would guess it is DSS that is doing it now. That would also explain why it wasn't available last summer after they closed IPO.

Does Poly CL offer a welcome drink?

I hope others respond in case they have had different experiences.

In my experience, no, no special welcome drink is offered. I have usually (but not always) been offered water, soda, etc. The CL CMs on the first floor have a small fridge with basic stuff.

One caveat is that I've always had a kid or two in tow and all but one time have been checking in somewhat early (AM hours), so the later in the day check-in experience may vary!

That being said, I'm pretty sure if I had said "I'd really love a wine/beer/alcoholic POG juice," they would have happily obliged. :-)

When they called me (I think last month?), they told me to go ahead and make a list for them and email it over. They said they'd book all the Reservations for us. But, I like doing it myself so that's what I did. But, I totally understand where you're coming from! I actually didn't make the Reservations until around 5pm or so because of Work. Got everything we wanted, and spotted quite a few Be Our Guest Dinner Reservations (we only do Breakfast there, so that was easy to snag). You can always give it a try, and if the System is wonky, just give Club Level a call or email them. Good luck!

Same here but we also checked in early.
I remember the CM telling my DH and kids to go upstairs to check out the lounge.

Booked a split club level stay for July and very excited. Will be at the Yacht Club CL July 13-19 and Wilderness CL 19-24. Stayed at the Yacht Club only once before years ago and Wilderness many times before.

Hope you have a great trip and enjoy both CLs :wizard:.

We're staying at the Poly CL 9/16-9/25. :yay::yay::yay:

Hope you have a great time!:banana:

Keep forgetting to say....we didn't get a welcome drink at YC :(. Boo! I forgot to ask

We used the texting service and found it very useful, for moving dining times, 4th FP and lastly for reporting forgotten items in the dresser, items were found and mailed to my home address! Yay!

I asked about this quite a few pages back, but didn't see any responses, so thought I'd try again (it was one of the last posts on the page, easily missed).

We're headed back to AKL CL for the first time in a long time and want to bring a gift of some kind for the CMs (I know it used to be common practice). Do people still do this? And are there restrictions? I remember reading that cash tips aren't allowed, but gifts are, the one exception being alcohol. We had thought of bringing some Icewine since our region is famous for it, but if alcohol is out, that nixes that.

I asked about this as well recently, and I was informed that yes indeed bringing a little something when staying CL is still a thing. No booze, no cash, no gift cards or anything that could be considered "cash or cash like". Candy and edibles seem to be a big thing. For myself, I'm bringing gourmet handcrafted chocolate bars from a very popular locally made ganachery/choclatier. Hope this helps

We have never brought gifts for the CMs. I know a few posters say they do. We have been making club level stays f or over 15 years, usually at YC. But we have also been at BC, BWI, CR & GF RPC. We only use the desk CMs for check in, maybe print a party ticket once or twice, stuff like that. At YC the CMs who clear the tables & put out the food are different than the desk CMs. I don't know if other people give the gifts to them or the desk CMs. There is no place for guests to bus their own tables at YC but I have never felt that we had anything other than normal service the CMs are hired to perform. So I don't feel the need to reward them for doing their jobs. I do tip the housekeepers, they perform much more of a service for me than the desk CMs do.

Those that do say they tip bring food from their area, snacks or gift cards for staff to share. I would not bring alcohol. There would be no way for the staff to share that during breaks etc. & I would not want to put staff in an uncomfortable position with accepting or refusing it.

I think bringing something is fine, I'm sure it's appreciated and they can't accept alcohol. However, what I've heard is the best thing you can do for them is to fill out a comment card for those that go above and beyond. I've been told that's how they get raises, promotions, etc.
