Resort Thread Disney's Club Level (CL) Thread

Another CL-enabler here. I have never stayed at the Poly CL but have at the RPC GF, AKL, and our favorite the BWI Innkeeper's club. Here are some of our reason's for staying club level.

> Time is everything at Disney and we are early risers even on vacation. Being able to get a cup of tea or coffee at 6:30 am and breakfast at 7:00 when most everyone else is still asleep is wonderful. Don't dismiss the cost of that breakfast or the time savings of not standing in line at a food court waiting for it. On our AK park day we do go to Boma first for breakfast to break things up a little and because it is our favorite.

> Having the help on the little things from the CM. Our last stay at BWI my sister-in-law went with us and uses a C PAC machine (hope I said that right) that needs distilled water. We don't have a car when we do Disney so I was trying to figure out what to do. Called the IPO, no problem they had 2 gallons of water in the room when we arrived. No charge.

> Snacks when we return to the hotel during the day. The BWI even has little bags so that you can make your own trail mix to take down to the pool with you. Of course the endless amount of drinks that we have during the day would really add up as well.

> Location is key. The stairwell down to the quiet pool is a nice direct route and we don't have to walk through the lobby to get there. Stop at the lounge and get a beer or two for the hubby and a soda for me before we head down to the pool. A bonus is we almost always seem to have the pool and hot tub to ourselves.

> We often book a signature for dinner but stop in for a glass of wine and apps. at the lounge before dinner. Then at dinner we skip apps. or sometimes I will have an app. for my entrée. For a typical ten day stay we will often have at least one night that we skip dinner all together and just have apps. at the hotel and then maybe pick up a snack at EPCOT in the evening.

> Desserts at night before we head to bed. The BWI lounge closes at ten but we often take a soda or two and put it in the fridge in the room for a late night drink. I have made a couple of Kahlua and milks for a night time drink as well while we sit on our balconies and watch Disney go to sleep.

> Finally having a place to come back to on the day we check out since we often have a late flight. On our last trip we didn't have the car service picking us up until 5:30 pm so we went back to the lounge about 4:30 to unwind a bit before we left. I had asked a CM to print off a boarding pass for us and when they saw what time we were flying out they asked if we would be stopping back in before we left. I said yes but thought no more of it. When they saw us back in the lounge they made a point of bringing the food out a little bit early so that we could have a last glass of wine and some apps. before we left for home. So unexpected but just one of the little things that makes us keep staying at the CL.

Add all the little things up and I think you do save real money and hassle staying CL at one or Disney's resorts. The cost savings would be even more if you had four or five guests to a room. Of course if they keep raising the prices the way they have I may have to rethink everything but for now we still enjoy it.

A bonus is that I have started pricing out stays and meals for an upcoming trip to Ireland and after paying Disney prices the past couple of years even four and five star hotels seem down right reasonable!:)

Wise words have been spoken by TJA and Disneytam above, really couldn't have said anything better myself and pretty much totally captures why we enjoy CL.

I will add that another major benefit for us, especially at Poly, is that I know exactly what longhouse I will be in and what my view will be. Forgive me for sounding like a bit of a snob, but I'm not really down for paying for a big Disney vacation and playing longhouse-roulette. Knowing I'll be in Hawaii in whatever view category I booked gives me a certain peace of mind (aka, control) over the accommodations. Not that I wouldn't enjoy Poly non-CL, it's just a nice benefit for sure.

Aloha Disboard friends! !

Just wanted to say a quick "good morning" from the lounge. I'm sitting solo with Cinderella castle straight ahead! We arrived yesterday and although it was a long day (up at 345) everything went pretty seemlessly! We arrived at the Poly at noonish and our room was not ready yet. We decided to get some drinks/snacks in the lounge and head to MK. The crowds were actually manageable and I wish we had energy to stay longer but the kids were anxious to do some swimming! My dd4 got her first rides on Splash and Big Thunder so that was a real highlight of the day! The kids loved the volcano pool and the splash area is awesome! I must say, however, I found the volcano pool slide a bit scary! I'm a water slide wimp, though;) CMs have been great so far and I even introduced myself to Irv last night. I told him he was "famous" on the boards! Ha!
Thanks again for all your help! I'll try to post more soon. Now, I need to get my family up! HS today!

I booked Poly CL during our upcoming August trip because I figured we'd be hanging out at the pool most afternoons. I love that the lounge is right near the pools, so I can easily walk in for another beer and snacks all afternoon long.

This is one of things I love about Poly CL. We've stayed in Samoa, which is right next to Hawaii, and I loved being so close to the pool. We are CL in September and staying in Hawaii will be just as great, but with the added perk of being able to run up to the lounge for drinks/snacks while relaxing by the pool :cloud9:.

Thank you for posting! I could imagine in my mind being right there sitting in the lounge watching Disney World wake up outside :cloud9:. That view always starts off my day with a smile. Good move introducing yourself to Irv! I truly can't wait to be there for the 4th of July. I truly hope you have a great trip at Poly CL.

I am also a CL-enabler, so take my comments with a grain of salt as well! In all honesty, CL seems to be a love-hate relationship....either people love it or can leave it. Reasons our family loves it:

> It gives us freedom each morning. We can go to the lounge at our own pace and leisure for breakfast. Great way to start each day = stress free!

> The view from the lounge. We've stayed CL at all 3 monorail resorts now, and imo Poly has the best lounge view. It adds something special to the trip.

> The location of CL to the main pool. Absolutely can't be beat. Walk outside and within a minute we're at the pool.

> The ability to get drinks/snacks all day long while at the pool. This expense adds up fast when not staying CL. We have juice/iced tea/water/pop/beer all day long from the lounge while at the pool. And it's just a quick minute walk away!

> Watch Wishes from the lounge if you don't have that room view booked.

> Desserts each night in the lounge.

> Ask for beer/wine/adult Pog juice anytime during the day and the CM's will get it for you. Sometimes the adult Pog juice isn't mixed up yet, so that isn't always available during the afternoon hours.

As far as the extra cost, I agree 100% with what GADisneyDad14 said. There is something magical about Poly CL that makes it impossible to put a dollar tag on.

Oh, and the mickey waffles! My kids are fans too. So what I do is book a couple character breakfasts as late as possible so it sort of constitutes an early lunch for us. Everyone is happy that way -- we've gone to our character meals (check), the kids got their mickey waffles (check), and lunch is also taken care of too (check)! We get up early on those days and have a quick breakfast in the lounge -- just enough to fuel us until "lunch." Fruit, oatmeal, bagel, yogurt, or cereal is plenty to get us going :thumbsup2.

My favorite time at Poly CL! I will usually get up around 6 and go to the lounge, catch up on e-mails and work (difficult for me to totally unplug from the real world). They'll usually put the coffee out early, love getting the first cup. I really like this about Poly CL, I can get up/out of the room to go work while everyone else sleeps and I'm not bothering everyone.

I hope the rest of your trip is fantastic!

Headed over to the lounge now. Excited to see what is in store for us today! We had a great day at HS yesterday. The kids all did Jedi training for the first time which they LOVED and ToT for first time as well which they did NOT love! Ha! We got back to resort for some swimming before a huge heavy rainstorm came through. Didn't make it back out for emh at MK but enjoyed the club level desserts and a family game of uno before bed. :)

Rope drop at MK awaits this morning!

Thanks for posting this :flower3:.

We are going to try and see if we can save enough to upgrade to CL. Fingers crossed.

I hope everything works out for upgrading to CL :wizard:.

This is my #1 reason for staying CL. I love having a lounge as it's a great place to get away while others are sleeping, getting ready, etc. :goodvibes.

Thanks for checking in! Sounds like everyone had a great day yesterday (except for ToT...lol). Glad you're having a nice time. Enjoy MK today :wizard:.

Lol, OT for a sec (sorry). I actually got DS5 to go on TOT last fall. One might also say I tricked and/or bribed him into going with the promise of a Mickey Bar. DS is "just OK" on dark rides, sometimes likes them, sometimes takes a bit of arm twisting, sometimes won't go at all. I wasn't going to force the issue but he was game for going, so on we went. I may/may not have fully explained the ride to him in advance. :rolleyes1:rolleyes1

The look on his face on our ride photo on the drop is PRICELESS. He is holding the handles for dear life. I know I shouldn't take pleasure in that, but gosh it was funny. Needless to say, he claims he will never go on it again. Hoping he outgrows the memory!

Have a great day at MK!
