Resort Thread Disney's Club Level (CL) Thread

I've found the server can make all the difference between a great dining experience and an awful one. What was it about Narcoossee that put you off?

Sometimes even the CM who seats you makes a difference. At Beaches & Cream the other week the person who sat me made a comment about me eating alone for my birthday (“Where are your friends??”). I was already missing my gf and that made me feel so awful…I nearly cried and just ended up going back to my room because I barely touched my food. In all the times I’ve eaten as a solo diner anywhere, even outside of WDW, I’ve never had that happen before. Not racing back there any time soon.

I'm sorry, that is really terrible. I'm sure she didn't mean anything by it but what a way to.make someone feel awful. Figures you were MIA for our nyc.talk lol. I haven't been in Manhattan in ages but went this weekend. The waterfront looks so nice! They really made it nice. I may hit the central park zoo this summer. My friend works downtown and if she's traveling from work she prefers JFK too.

I'm so sorry that happened to you - but hanks for this warning!! I was stalking a B&C ADR over my birthday trip, but since I'll be solo I'm taking that off the table. How insensitive!

Oh, I'm so sorry that happened. She probably thought she was being social in a positive way.

One of the nice things about working where I do is it's so nice in the summer. I take my lunches down at the Seaport watching the all the boats. Before the plague happened I used to love timing my lunches so that I could see the Queen Mary 2 passing by on her way from the Brooklyn cruise terminal out of NY harbor...that ship is HUGE! No cruise ships yet but my favorite ice cream place re-opened and I treated myself today, lol! (I really hope Disney gets a Big Gay Ice Cream shop now that Ample Hills is gone...)

Yeah, I knew she didn't mean anything by it and it was just a case of foot in mouth which is why I didn't make a fuss about it...but man did it hurt. I've always been a very independent sort of person and enjoy going places solo, especially Disney, so it really threw me for a loop. Especially since I've had such good experiences with solo ADRs in the past. The best was still Wine Bar George, my server really took the time to chat with me explaining the different wines he thought I would like.

That would be AWESOME!!! I love BGIC. Was underwhelmed with AH.

I suspect that for the conservative bunch, Disney would request a name change, though. :(

I've been a customer ever since it was the original guy with the truck over by Union Square. The toppings alone are fantastic. I think the shop name would be ok, but some of the flavor names would definitely have to change...

I don't know if it's confirmed or not, but I saw somewhere that Salt & Straw is the rumored replacement for Ample Hills, and hipster LA/Portland ice cream is not something I'm really enthused about.

Eek. Ample Hills was hipster enough for my tastes. LOL.

I must be living under a rock. Never heard of BGIC. Will have to look now. I wasn't a fan of Ample Hill either. I'm more of a Ralph's ice girl. I still love the rainbow ices from the pizza places. Is BGIC in Brooklyn too or just the city?

Currently just Manhattan. They have 4 locations

OMG Big Gay Ice Cream is the BEST ICE CREAM EVER!!! It showed up at our local grocery store maybe…last year or so….we bought it constantly then, bam….gone. No one else carries it or has ever heard of it here in my area of NH. 😩

Our server was crude. At one point she actually threw silverware on the table. It startled all of us! Several of our steaks (filets) were tough. I struggled to cut mine with a sharp knife. Even when we asked, our waters were never refilled. And then came dessert and it was not edible. We had 4 guests with us who had never been to Disney nor Narcoossee's and we were so embarrassed! The whole meal was a bust!

Waves to the special Ed folks ❤️ I work in a unit that protects intellectually and developmentally disabled folks from harm, specifically abuse, neglect, and exploitation. I read this thread all the time but don't post a lot.

It is hard to return to a restaurant after a negative experience, especially when it is Disney prices and so many other options. The first, and only time, we ate at Flying Fish was terrible and I have never gone back.

I loved AKL CL and would do it again, if the prices were not so insane. I fell in love with that nespresso machine, making supper whipped foam hot chocolate, more foam than liquid. It was good with the cordials mixed in too. 😍 Do any of the other CL have that?

I had a similar experience at Sanna. Rude, inattentive waiter who for some reason felt the need to tell us what we could and could not eat and when the bill came it was twice the cost of any prior time we ate there. It was very out of the ordinary for a location with some of the best servers I've ever encountered and has put me off returning.

I know many people have not gone back to their previous jobs. We had a very nice server at B & C in April. She told us she was a Skipper on the Jungle Cruise before the closure & was still hoping to get back there someday. She was just fine as a server, but I’m sure there are many more CMs waiting tables that did not do that job before. The wait staff at the signature restaurants were long time servers with the experience & temperament to enhance the dining experience. I don’t know how the recall process works, but I hope experienced servers get back to their previous positions soon.
