Resort Thread Disney's CARIBBEAN BEACH Resort

Is there a recent issue with the AC units in the rooms ? A lot of people on tripadvisor are complaining about a very bad smell when entering for the first time inside. Many of them asked to be moved somewhere else in the resort.

Just checking in !

I havn't read this thread in awhile since we booked our CBR trip a few months ago, however the time is sneaking up on us and will be leaving September 3rd which is only 65 days away! Just getting caught up in here, and saying "HI" to all of you. :flower1:

There was an issue with some of the older A/C units putting out a stale odor. But from many friends and family that have been to CBR since the room refurb, that is no longer an issue. And if you do find your room has the odor, a call to maintenance and a quick change of the filter in the unit will eliminate it.

Hi! 62 days here! Can't wait.

I spent one night at CBR last week. Over all I thought it was very pretty, but I didn't like how spread out it was. I had a car so I drove around the resort because the internal buses were crowded.

I did take the bus to the park and as it was midday it was not too crowded. After park closing a mostly empty bus left as a ton of us were walking and the group by me was waving, that happens but then he turned on his lights and smiled and waved to us as he drove past us again in the line. Honestly I thought that was pretty rude. But that was really the only negative of my very short stay. Another bus showed up about 10 minutes later so not to bad.

I was in 1112, first floor, corner room. I got to by pass the front desk and I got the text that my room was ready just before 3pm.

Inconvenient to the food court but very convienent to the bus stop.

No Murphy bed.

I ate breakfast there the morning I checked out and it was pretty standard for Disney but luckily not too crowded (around 8:30-9:00)

Overall all the CMs I encountered were very nice, the room was in good shape and again the landscaping/theme were lovely.

I just don't think it's the right resort for me, but I think I would recommend it to any one who likes that beachy/tropical theme.

Hello!

Travel to CBR resort on 5th August from the UK and we are very excited. Just don't know what to expect as never been to the USA before or Disney. Been watching this thread with interest. Any top tips guys for newbies.

Shall I be requesting a certain area to stay?
Are the dining plans I bought entitle me to the full range of meal options but not alcohol?
Are the parks quiet at night with minima queuing?

More questions to follow for sure so hope you don't mind ;-)
If you don't to pay for preferred, ask for Jamaica 45 or Aruba 51.
Dining plan allows you 1 quick-service meal and 1 table-service meal, and 1 snack.
Parks are busy, but not overrun. We take advantage of extra evening hours when possible. Like having the parks to ourselves.

Enjoy.

Yup, but just to add that in 2017, the regular DDP will be dropping the dessert for counter serve meals and replacing it with another snack credit. Table service meals remain unchanged.

Is the dining plan in the UK packages the same as the packages offered in the US?
For some reason, I thought they were different but I may be wrong :confused3

I'm no expert, but went over and had a quick peek. The standard UK dining plan for 2017 is thus:

Per person per night stay includes:

• 1 Self Service meal
• 1 Waiter Service meal
• 2 selected Snacks
• 1 Refillable Resort Mug per stay

This is the same plan the we North Americans will be getting. What is different is the free breakfast offered with a stay at a Value resort. That seems to be a UK exclusive.

Just wanted to say that we stayed in room 5607 this past week, it has a trundle, is a connecting room, is right near the Aruba bus stop, and if you are driving or renting a car the parking is right in front of the room.

Oh and the room connected to it is a corner room. Hope this helps someone when making requests.

We stayed in that very room on our first stay at CBR, in March of 2008 and my in-laws had the corner room, lol! Of course that was before the Murphy beds and room renos. Heck, it was before the Pirate rooms, too. The main pool was under construction at that time, IIRC. Its one of the very best rooms coming back late from the parks- literally just a few steps from the bus stop. :)

We will be needing a pack and play in our room. Our last trip we stayed at Corando Springs and the pack and play fit nicely by the sinks under the coat rack. For those who have stayed here, should it be a similar sized area as Corando? Would there be any way to curtain that area off if we brought a curtain and some supplies? The daughter sleeping in the pack and play would do better if she couldn't see big sis and us in the main area of the room. I thought about a suction cup for the mirror and then tie something to the curtain rod. Suggestions?

A pack-n-play will fit in that exact same spot at CBR. If you don't want your daughter to see anyone in the main part of the room, there is a door to close off the bathroom area. If you want her to not be able to see if someone is IN the bathroom, then I think a curtain, string and a couple suction cups would work for that.

We also used to just drape a blanket over the end/top of the Pack and Play to block DD's view.

Can a room with the pull down bed be requested for a family of 3 (2 adults and 1 child) or will they only book those rooms for a family of 5? What are the chances of getting a pull down bed room if requested?

There have been a lot of people post that they are a family with fewer than 5 that have gotten a murphy bed.
I would think that they will only book as many 5 person rooms as they have available so if alot of families of 5 book for the same time frame as your trip is planned, there is a chance there won't be one available but you could definitely request one.

Not sure about the chances, but we got one last year for our family of three without requesting one... so it is certainly possible.

We are a family of three and were given a Murphy bed two times (without requesting one).
