Resort Thread Disney's CARIBBEAN BEACH Resort

If beaches are closed from dusk till dawn can you still view Epcot fireworks? I promise I'm not trying to come off an insensitive, the whole thing is so unfortunate... but really the draw for this resort was the ability to use hammocks, watch fireworks, and generally enjoy the beachy feel... (I feel like I'm sounding incredibly selfish here, I promise I'm not trying to be!)
You don't sound selfish or insensitive. I feel the same way about our upcoming Nov trip and have the same questions.

Hi guys never stayed on a Disney property but am planning to do so in September. For some of you all who have stayed here how are the "updated" rooms. The wife and I will probably just be sleeping in them but we want to at least be comfortable. I was thinking about staying at WL but with the refurbishments at WL and the more we could get from our vacation package(doing "free Dining" and looking to add memory maker and the water parks option) staying here we are thinking about making the switch. Again this will be our 2nd trip to Disney but 1st staying anywhere on property. Thanks for your help!

Am I safe to assume if all beach/lake activities are shut down, the kids pirate adventure is also closed?

Updated rooms are lovely! We loved ours last year!

I heard the beaches were re-opening, so my guess is that they will re-open the pirate adventure too. DD loved it last year - so I hope you get to go!

I actually called about this early this week because our daughter is scheduled for a pirate cruise in July. They assured me that the cruises are still taking place and are not scheduled to be cancelled. It was reported yesterday that the beaches were going to be open during the day so I'm confident that they won't be cancelling the cruises anytime soon.

Random question...looking at the menu, it looks like a lot of the entrees at OPR come with jerk chips; can you get fries instead?

Love the new updated rooms. Plenty of room, comfortable beds, and decor is nice.

My fast past window is coming up, so I am trying to time bus schedules with ADRs to make sure fastpass times work (lol random distraction picturing what my non Disney friends would think of that sentence). Anyhow I have one snag. We have a 9:40a at O'hana's on the 31st of Aug (a Wednesday). With the monorail being under random refurbishment I don't want to rely on it to get us there, especially when it is already at 40m trip. What other routes can I use to get from the resort to the Poly? How costly would a cab be for a family of 5? Also we plan to head to MK after we eat, best option for that?

You could take a bus to the MK and then the boat to the Poly. I would be at the bus stop no later than 8:30; the buses get busy that time of the morning, but you should be fine. There will be some kind of transportation available from the MK to the Poly if the monorail isn't running, either a boat or a bus. The same with your return trip. If you aren't sure, just ask a CM at the monorail area; even if it is not running, they will be able to tell you how to get to the MK.

I'm not sure how much a cab would cost. If no one knows here, you could ask on the Transportation board.

Uber would be cheaper than a taxi and faster than using Disney transportation. They can drop you off right at the poly front door.
