Resort Thread Disney's CARIBBEAN BEACH Resort

Sorry if this has already been asked, I looked and didn't see anything...

With the quiet pool refurbs are they adding gates to close off the pools at night? I know they technically close at I believe 11pm but I know we have swam several times late at night and no one bothered us. The reason I am asking is we recently stayed a short visit at POP and the quite pool in our section had a locked gate for after hours. I was wondering if CBR was doing this. We are normally not at the resort during regular swimming hours and are at the parks all day. We always love to swim after we get back to the resort for the night. Thanks!

After the drowning at POP in March 2013 after lifeguards were off duty and then another at AoA last year, I have read several articles that they are getting more secure at all the resort pools so it is possible that all pools will be locked up after hours but that is definitely just speculation.

Not sure about the chances, but we got one last year for our family of three without requesting one... so it is certainly possible.
We are a family of three and were given a Murphy bed two times (without requesting one).

Wonder if they are getting the murphy beds added to more rooms :)
That would be nice to have more availability of the murphy bed.

Does anyone happen to know if the handicap accessible rooms at Caribbean Beach are updated? Last time we were there they had the old bright colored decor.

Pretty sure all the rooms have been updated now from the Nemo look they had before. The pirate rooms are still pirate-y but have also been tweaked just a bit.

We will be needing a pack and play in our room. Our last trip we stayed at Corando Springs and the pack and play fit nicely by the sinks under the coat rack. For those who have stayed here, should it be a similar sized area as Corando? Would there be any way to curtain that area off if we brought a curtain and some supplies? The daughter sleeping in the pack and play would do better if she couldn't see big sis and us in the main area of the room. I thought about a suction cup for the mirror and then tie something to the curtain rod. Suggestions?
The rooms at the Caribbean are about 80 ft bigger than Coronado. There should be plenty of room for the pack and play under the hanging racks next to the sinks. There are actually sliding doors now between the sink area and the rest of the room so if those were shut she would not be able to see you and her siblings.

We did it! Booked our first stay here. Only 11 months to go :) I booked online so now I need to call to put in a room request for a Murphy bed (we will buy an air bed as backup but if I don't have to use it back it goes!).

State of Florida is making WDW do these upgrades/security measures at the pools.

I'm planning my next visit right now and we're really thinking about staying at CBR. I've not stayed there in over 10 years, since I was 14 with my Mom and little sister. It looks like things have changed a ton! Just going with the hubs this time around and we were thinking of staying in the King Bed room, but the price difference is pretty steep. Any pros or cons to king vs 2 queen beds? Are the queen beds true queens? We stayed a POP a few years ago and those were not queen beds we actually ended up sleeping in separate beds. We're both restless sleepers and pooh sized so if the queen beds are really small Full sized beds maybe the King is worth the space.

Thanks for any help and advice!

Yes, they are queen sized beds, since the recent refurb. POP has full sized beds.

My wife and I have stayed at CBR the last 4 times in a King Bedroom. LOVE IT!!!!! The extra money is worth it for us, and the room seems a whole lot larger with one bed. The queens are true Queen sized beds.

As others have said, yes the queen beds are true queens.

The good thing about booking a king is that you can request a room in any of the Trinidad North buildings or Martinique 24, 25 or 26. All of those locations are the closest to OPR and the Main Feature pool.

My online check in window has opened. We booked a preferred room. Can I request a water view room as one of my options? or is that a waste because that is a different category. I guess my question really is can a preferred booking have a water view room? I also have a subscription to touring plans and am thinking of using the room request feature there for the first time - any advice on the best way to get the room I want?

We are going in 75 days! We requested Jamaica 45 or Aruba 51. Should we rent a car or are the busses pretty good? I have a two year old who doesn't like to sit still too long and I worry about the busses cause we can't buckle him in a seat
