Resort Thread Disney's CARIBBEAN BEACH Resort

We're due in CBR in July / August. We're spending the equivalent of 3 years worth of vacations on this holiday.
I don't want anything to ruin this break. We've stayed at POR before and loved it and had originally booked CSR but had to switch to CBR due to availability.
What do we do????? Help :-(

having just gotten back from CBR, I suggest looking for availability at POR. I wish I would have. They weren't supposed to be working on the building we were in, but i was woken at 9am by a ladder slamming up against the wall outside the room....they were painting the building. ***?

I couldn't resist. I changed back to my Disney home! :) 8/18-26. And I'm here for good unless THEY call and say they're moving me. (Also? Standard rooms opened up so the difference in price was only about $300 - so less than $40/night.)

I have this too and find it to be useless for CBR, even though I've used it at other resorts. Nothing even comes up as a touring plans pick. I'm thinking the issue is the distance to the lobby is the custom house not old port royale?

I like the views of al the little courtyard area, but apparently those are all smoking sections and I don't feel much like walking through smoke to my room so I will have to choose something else.
The custom house is maybe 15-18 minutes from the furthest Trinidad South building.

are you able
Disney's Caribbean Beach Resort is made up of six villages that are almost mirror images of the other. The exceptions are the colors of the buildings and their booking category.

Trinidad North:
All the buildings have rooms classified as either Preferred, Water View or King.

Martinique:
Buildings 24, 25 and 26 have rooms classified as either Preferred, Water View or King.
Buildings 21 and 22 have rooms classified as either Standard, Water View or King.
Building 23 has rooms classified as either Standard or King.

Barbados:
Buildings 11, 12, 13, 14 and 15 have rooms classified as either Standard, Water View or King.
Building 16 has rooms classified as either Standard or King.

Aruba:
All the buildings have rooms classified as either Standard, Water View or King.

Jamaica:
Buildings 41, 42, 43, 44 and 45 have rooms classified as either Standard, Water View or King.
Building 46 has rooms classified as either Standard or King.

Trinidad South:
All the buildings have rooms classified as either Pirate Standard or Pirate Water View.

Bookable room categories at the CBR are:

Standard view: Your room view would overlook a parking lot, courtyard or other landscaping. .

Water view: Your room view would overlook either a swimming pool or the lake. Water view rooms are scattered throughout the entire resort.

Preferred: Your room will be in one of the Trinidad North buildings or Martinique building 24, 25 or 26. Views will vary. See notations above.

King bed: Your room could be in any of the villages with the exception of Trinidad South. Views will vary. See notations above.

Pirate standard room: Your pirate themed room would overlook a parking lot, courtyard or other landscaping. All pirate themed rooms are in the village of Trinidad South. See notations above.

Pirate water view room: Your pirate themed room would overlook either a swimming pool or the lake. All pirate themed rooms are in the village of Trinidad South. See notations above.

The only difference between standard and preferred rooms are location. The decor and size are the same.

Buildings are not considered preferred or standard, only rooms are. See notations above.

are you able to leave your bags before check in to go to a park for the day and then return to actually check in?

are you able to leave your bags before check in to go to a park for the day and then return to actually check in?

Yes.

But you can actually check in any time after 6am. If your room is available and ready, you're in! If not, you can store your bags with Bell Services and when you return you can call Bell Services for your bags. You may or may not get a text when your room is ready - I have yet to get one, even when I physically typed my number into the system. If you do, perfect - just go straight to your room. If not, you just stop by the Customs House again.

Thank you so much!

Those numbers are way, way off. The longest walk to OPR from the furthest preferred room is 3 minutes. From the furthest standard room in Martinique is 5 minutes. The furthest Pirate Themed Room in Trinidad South is 11 minutes and that is the longest walk at CBR.

We have found the Touring Plans Room Finder to be extremely inaccurate when it comes to room types, amenities, views and walking distance.

Thank you for the reassurance. I knew it had to be incorrect. I feel much better.:)

I noticed the same with the lack of touring plan picks....kind of strange. I used the service last time to request a room and although I didn't get the room I requested the one I did get was generally the same area but in the next building. I also felt the same way about the courtyard but as soon as I found out the smoking areas are there my mind was changed as smoke bothers me a lot.

I think the bottom line is a request is JUST a request. No matter how it is made, there are no guarantees that you will get it.

That said, you can always go to the Customs House when you arrive to ask if there is anything that is closer to what you want. Just because you get a room number texted or emailed does not mean it is set in stone (unless the resort is totally full in which case it might be).

My favorite was in January 2015 I knew I was arriving late, so I requested Barbados as it is closest to the Custom House and I could more easily walk there. And at least anecdotally from here Barbados is the least requested area, so I figured I had a good shot. Put in the request via phone and online check-in (was not aware of Touring Plans yet). I got there around 11pm on DME and (no surprise as I have never gotten a text) had no text or email about my room, so into the Customs House I went. And discovered that I was put in Jamaica 45 - probably the most common request. Seriously!?!?!?!? But it was late and I was just ready to crash, so I took it. It just made me laugh and roll my eyes that I can request probably the least desirable area and get the most requested of the standard areas.

I have a request by phone for top floor, corner room and have my Touring Plans fax set for a room in Aruba that meets that - with first priority top floor, second priority corner room spelled out in the fax for August. So we shall see what happens.

45 minutes walk...what were they, turtles? 8-) If it takes someone 45 minutes, they probably should not be at WDW without a motorized wheelchair or something like that.

I have stayed at CBR 10+ times...have never had any of those issues arise in any stay...well over 60 days total.
I'm glad to hear this. i just finished reading those reviews and it almost made me not book this resort. I'm pretty excited so far. Disney has never let me down. Hope they don't start now.

Can anyone tell me if the beds at CBR have pillowtops?

We stayed in November and as many of you have said, the bed was so comfy. I emailed Simmons Hospitality and asked about the exact model and how to purchase. Here was part of their response:

"Attached is an order form and product information for the “non-flip / maintenance-free” Simmons Beautyrest®Disney Moderate Plush, which is a private-label model made exclusively for specific Walt Disney World Resorts, and featured at the Caribbean Beach Resort. This Beautyrest® bed set is not available in any retail bedding outlet, represents one of the top commercial models made by Simmons, and features the latest innovations in sleep-system design. This model does not disappoint, and I am confident that you will be impressed as well!"

It is NOT a pillowtop so I just want to confirm it's the same as what we slept on. And for anyone wondering, the price is $1599 for king mattress and foundation.
I was just saying to my husband that we NEED the mattress from CBR. We had one of the 2 queens room and it was the best bed (for me) I have ever slept in. Would you be willing to PM me all the info you have on ordering one?

The only other thing I can think is they walked all the way around the lake... But it is pretty obvious which way to go to get to OPR - so they must not have been paying attention.

We arrive in 26 days and requested non-preferred Martinique and now I'm reading that is where construction will be. Is this expected to start soon? Should I switch requests to Aruba/Jamaica?

Thanks!

We are just back from our first CBR stay. We are a family of 5 (kids 12,8,6). We had a room in Jamaica. It was plenty big and had lots of storage. For us, it worked great.
It was the first bus stop for pickup on the way to the parks and the first one to drop off on the way back. The bus route runs a little differently for Disney Springs. It seemed like we were a middle stop.
The walk to Old Port Royale was not bad at all. Since this was our first stay we were not sure what to expect but it was a very manageable and enjoyable stroll.

The Trinidad South pool deck is being reconfigured to include a new pool, and bar/eatery as part of the large upcoming project.

This is good to know. The walk times shown on touring plans was the one thing that always put us off booking CBR before now (i didn't fancy a 20 minute walk to go refill my cup).

Trying to decide what block to request in the summer, how long do you think the walk is from Jamaica 45 to the foodcourt?

4 minutes at a very leisurely pace.

We are staying at CBR for the first time 2/12 to 2/16 and can't wait!!! I've requested Martinique 22, Jamaica 45 or Aruba 51, and a high floor on our reservation (thanks for the great tips on room locations for a Standard Room category :)). I tried to also add a coveted corner room request but the cast member said she ran out of space on my ressie. I've never done on-line check in before but see that high floor and corner room are options listed. Would doing on-line check in increase my chances of getting my desired room location, since all my requests would be noted? Or should I just check in at the custom house upon arrival? Thank you!!!!

I would suggest doing Online Check In and just skip the room request section since your requests are already noted. If you prefer a Corner Room over a 2nd floor room, then I would call and edit your requests. If you would prefer a 2nd floor room over a Corner room then I would leave them be.
