Resort Thread Disney's CARIBBEAN BEACH Resort

My husband and I stayed at CSR a couple of years ago and loved it! We had a business class room, which gave us access to an area with complimentary continental breakfast, as well as snacks, beer and wine at night. Our next trip at the end of November will be with family (including grandchildren!!!) and are booked at CBR - which we are really looking forward to. I wouldn't be hesitant to stay at CSR, especially if you could somehow get a room in the Business Class Building! :)

Well issue resolved, I am still staying at CBR in a water view room.

I wonder why they didn't choose the land across the lake from Trinidad South for the new construction, instead of taking out Barbados.

I wonder if someone at Disney actually took all the "CBR is too big and spread out" talk to heart and decided to make it smaller while adding the DVC?

Just an FYI, they've eliminated the Business Class rooms.

We're due in CBR in July / August. We're spending the equivalent of 3 years worth of vacations on this holiday.
I don't want anything to ruin this break. We've stayed at POR before and loved it and had originally booked CSR but had to switch to CBR due to availability.
What do we do????? Help :-(

The exact scope of work is really unknown right now, but unless you were planning to request a room in Barbados and there could be no substitutions, I truly would not worry. This work won't affect the main pool or OPR, and Disney is extremely considerate with any construction noise - they do the majority from 9 to 5 when people are out and about at the parks.

I'm really starting to get nervous about the bus situation at CBR. With a squirmy toddler I'm worried about the extra bus time with 7 stops. Renting a car is not an option. How long do you think a complete loop around the resort takes... if we end up choosing to walk to whatever village is the last stop are we going to be stuck with a full bus that we can't even get on?!

I'm nervous about the construction too. Mostly because there's construction one place then it will be another. With three races (aka middle of the night wake up calls) I'm very nervous about construction noise. Usomeone recommended Trinidad North for our dates so hopefully construction on that end is over before we check in mid April.

There is no construction scheduled for Trinidad North.

The only thing that worries me is the little building drawn on the plans by the main pool. What do you think they're going to be building there???

If you are picked up first and make the entire loop, you will be pulling out of CBR about 7-8 minutes after you get on. You know your toddler best, but we were pleasantly surprised how much our son loved the busses when he was a toddler. I mean really loved them. We'd be at MK having a blast and he would ask when we're going to get on the bus again. He felt like it was another ride/attraction.

IMHO it would make zero sense to walk to another bus stop. You will be spending as much time walking as you would sitting on a bus. You will not know ahead of time which would be the last stop as the busses use 2 different entrances at the drivers discretion. In the mornings they send 2 busses for each park. One makes 3 stops and the other 4 stops. Our last trip we were only on a bus that hit all 7 stops 3 times in 10 nights.

We too were worried about this before our 1st CBR stay and we actually loved the fact that no matter where your room is you will have a very short walk to a stop. We would rather spend a few extra minutes sitting in an air conditioned bus than walking to a single bus stop at the front of the resort.

I know this was mentioned a few posts back...

For what it's worth, the expiration date on a carton of milk means that it has another week of quality. As long as the milk is kept cold, you should have no problem. Just so you know (dept of agriculture).

Yes, we did a quick test before drinking. (I heard something about putting some portion of milk in the cold water and see how it spread tells you whether it is still fresh or not) and was fine.

But as a consumer perspective, the longer expiry date, the better we feel, I believe. :)

He's a pretty active kid and holding still is not something he likes. We went in September when he was 9 months and he wasn't a fan of having to be held still on the bus then. I'm hoping he'll be better at 15 months.

My thought on walking to another stop was that he wouldn't be "contained" for as long. I figured he'd be happier walking than sitting on the bus but seeing as it's only around 8 extra minutes on the bus I'm sure we'll be fine!

We don't usually mind the extra walking. Our last trip we actually took the AoA bus a handful of times due to shorter lines and walked back to our room at Pop. I'm sure the distance between a few villages at CBR will be much more than that though :rotfl:

Thanks @dansdad !

Actually. from POP to the AoA bus stop, you will walk farther than any resort building at CBR to OPR.

Good to know! I was just looking at google maps to try and judge the distance to get an idea about how much walking we were in for. We found the walk from to Pop to AoA to be fine so this makes me a little bit more comfortable with the size of CBR.

I have a subscription to touring plans and I was looking at rooms to make a request for our upcoming trip in August. We have a preferred room booked because that was all that was available when I booked. I noticed on touring plans the walking distance from some of the rooms in the preferred buildings are stated as 12 or 13 minutes. Can anyone confirm this to be true? That doesn't make much sense to me because the walking distance from Martinique standard rooms in buildings 22 and 23 were not this long. I am confused how it could be possible that rooms in Martinique 26 would be longer when you are paying more money for a "preferred" location and it is closer to OPR.

Those numbers are way, way off. The longest walk to OPR from the furthest preferred room is 3 minutes. From the furthest standard room in Martinique is 5 minutes. The furthest Pirate Themed Room in Trinidad South is 11 minutes and that is the longest walk at CBR.

We have found the Touring Plans Room Finder to be extremely inaccurate when it comes to room types, amenities, views and walking distance.

I have this too and find it to be useless for CBR, even though I've used it at other resorts. Nothing even comes up as a touring plans pick. I'm thinking the issue is the distance to the lobby is the custom house not old port royale?

I like the views of al the little courtyard area, but apparently those are all smoking sections and I don't feel much like walking through smoke to my room so I will have to choose something else.
