Quick question because I haven't been since they've been working so much on Downtown Disney (it'll always be called that to me). Those with a car, have you found it hard to park downtown? I hate the bus stops at Downtown and I feel like we wait there more than we do anywhere. Hoping we can maybe just take our car and not have a huge hassle. But, I'm cool taking the bus if it's easier. Anyone been there lately and have experience to share? We're about 55 days from our first stay at CBR and I could not be more excited!
We plan to go to DTD a few times during our trip (in 9 days!), so I can let you know about our experiences. We will probably use each option (driving, bus to DTD, bus to SSR then walking) at least once

I wonder if maybe they will only close one part off the bridge at a time so the playground is always accessible
So once they have refurbished the bridge Aruba side it will re open and close it from OPR side maybe ???
I hope this is the case because I really want to see the island!

Any suggestions on a specific room # for Martinique? Standard view w/a Murphy bed. I know it's a long shot but worth a try. Oh..and if it's a ground even better. I'm so excited to go! 45 days out!

Over the years I've had the chance to speak to a couple room assigners and they all prefer that guests do not request specific room numbers. Doing that cuts down the odds on you getting your requests granted as they have no idea why you wanted that room. So after that they are guessing what you want. It is always best to describe what your looking for as that gives you the greatest odds of having your requests granted. For example word your request "Martinique, Murphy Bed and ground floor". There are probably 40 or so rooms that will fit that request instead of only 1 if you request room # XXXX.

Awesome! Thanks makes sense! I appreciate the info! I've learned so much on this thread!

I have a question for those of you that have been to the resort...
Can you explain a couple of things...
Check-in... The magical express bus drops you off at the custom house? Then what? You walk to your room???

The buses that take you the parks... What's the order of pickups? And drop offs???
Where would you recommend getting on the bus at???

Thanks!

Yes, ME drops you off at the Custom House. You have a couple choices:

Walk to your room
Take the internal bus to your village
If you have your luggage with you, the Bell Services van will take you and your luggage to your room

The buses that take you the parks... What's the order of pickups? And drop offs???

Depends on which entrance the bus comes in. If it's the side entrance the order is:

Jamaica
Aruba
Barbados
Martinique
OPR
Trinidad North
Trinidad South

If the bus comes in the Main entrance the order is:

Martinique
OPR
Trinidad North
Trinidad South
Jamaica
Aruba
Barbados

We always use the closest one to our room.

You have never had a problem with not getting on the busses at one of the first stops??? Like does it fill up?

The other you gave based on the main or side enterance... Is that depend on what park it's coming from/going to or what??

Thank you!!!!

You're welcome! :thumbsup2

All of our stays at CBR have been during Free Dining and the resort is at capacity. We've never had an issue not getting on the bus nor have we been on the bus when it had to leave guests waiting at their stop for a 2nd bus.

It depends on traffic and which entrance that particular driver decides to use.

.
This is something that will reassure my 70yr old dad. We're at CBR in Oct and he's convinced that given the size of CBR, that there will always be a few hundred people wanting to go to MK at the same time .

Tell him not to worry at all. I have never had a problem either. :)

We are at CBR Now . Avoid staying in Aruba it Jamaica if at all possible! What a pain in the butt. Boat does not start until 9 and if ur an early coffee person it's is quite a pain to keep having to wait for van all the time time to get to OPR

Sorry it is bothering you so much. :( No matter where they put us, I will walk to OPR. The grounds are really beautiful. I'll just be happy to be there alone with my hubby and not having to drive to the high school every day to pick up my son from band practice or games. LOL

I would usually just walk too but tore my meniscus in my knee right b4 we left so walking all the way around the lake is not ideal in the am. They have a 15 seat passenger van with one door so we all climb over 3 rows of tight seats to get in. Many people not happy. Of course grateful to be here just informing others not an ideal situation and very time consuming.

I checked out the Pirate rooms the last 2 days (not staying at CB, but wandered over)

Here's what I saw, and what CM told me:

38 and 39 are under construction
34-37 are done
The refurb is very light--I'll know more after my October stay, but it looked like just paint, bedding and the rug.
From a cast member: "We kept the full beds, just added new, softer mattresses."

Interesting. Someone else reported that they were altering the pirate bed frames to turn them into Queen beds. It will be good to hear from people who stay in the renovated rooms to get the full scoop.
