Wife and I, three kids (9,7,4)

This is our first time staying at the CBR. I originally made a reservation at the Polynesian resort but later learned that they were under renovation. I got nervous (after reading some poor reviews on other sites) and changed our reservation over to CBR. It actually saved us $1,000 :cool1:

It seems like the only negative to staying at CBR is that it is a little farther from the parks, am I right?

I did the online check in and requested water-view Jamaica....hope it works out!

It is MUCH further from MK since the Polynesian is along the Monorail for the MK...EPCOT might be a bit further, but not by much ...it is CLOSER to Hollywood Studios, and about the same distance for AK.

But to me, being closer isn't worth the $1,000...that's why we always stay at a moderate, we could do a deluxe, but would be tighter on the spending.

makes sense.

We've never stayed at the Polynesian and have heard how nice it is but the extra money didn't seem worth it if they are under renovation.

Thanks for the info!

Hi everyone! Need CBR info, not very educated on it.

Our last two experiences at "large" resorts were not very good (CSR and OKW). Transportation was OK at CSR and absolutely sucked at OKW (Too narrow and twisty turny for the buses to get around that resort). We need a room with three beds (preferably studio). We are looking at BWI studios, VWL or CBR. CBR is just so appealing... great theme, beautiful, amazing pool, supposedly great food court and AMAZING price. However, we just can't wrap our minds around the 7 bus stops...OKW has 5 and that was to much for us. However, CBR is just a circle and OKW wasn't. How are the buses? It also seems those large resorts are much more crowded and fill up quicker (we never got seats on OKW buses). That doesn't matter as much but truthfully, how is getting to the parks? BWI and WL each have boats to at least one park which makes them really appealing, so you're going to really have to convince me on this one. Thanks!

CBR is basically a circle, though the Trinidad South is beyond the main drive, so it is more like a Q as the bus loops through there then back to the circle.

It really depends on when you are there. We were there the week prior to Christmas, during free dining (and it was one of only two moderate resorts included in the Free Dining offer), and never really had bus issues. We never saw people being left because the bus was full leaving the resort (though we didn't do RD...so maybe benefited from not being is the "rush hour" for the buses).

At closing time, we never had too long of a line waiting, only once did we have to wait for a second bus to come to get on and go home, and even then they could have fit more people in, but he driver said the other bus was right behind and we would be more comfortable waiting two more minutes.

But maybe this was an incredibly good run of luck, or those with the opposite story had a bad run of luck...I can't tell you...I just know I would certainly stay there again.

I can echo this. We stayed in September, slow period yes, but with free dining. The resort never felt crowded and buses really weren't an issue for us. We were in Jamaica, which is often the first stop, so first on, first off. It's quite a beautiful resort.

We were there Oct 25-Nov 5 and stayed in Aruba. Our entire trip we only had to stand once on the bus and that was right after the fireworks at MK. We were either the second stop or the second last stop. Even when we were second last stop it only took about 7-10 minutes to get through the other bus stops. We didn't mind it at all but we had nothing to compare it to as this was our first trip to Disney. My only recommendation would be to request a room close to the bus stop. We were a good distance away and it was exhausting walking back to our room at the end of the evening.

Good Morning! Can anyone who is there now or just returned let us know if renovations have started in the preferred rooms? I booked a preferred room for our trip in April and I'm trying to figure out if I need to adjust that based on construction.

Thanks!

I would love to know too

I believe that someone stated that they saw work going on in Martinique 24 which is a preferred building. Hopefully, someone who is there or will be there soon can report back with an update.

Does anyone know if you can buy a case of water in the gift shop?

I'm trying to recall whether or not I saw any for sale in the store. I don't think that I did but let me go back and look at some pictures to see if I see any.

I found the picture that I was looking for. I was wrong...the store does sell a case of water. This picture was taken in May.

Please add us for February 24-27

This will be our first visit to CBR...well our first stay on Disney property period.
We are thrilled! Not much could bother me at this point...although the construction talk has a me a bit worried.

We are staying in a pirate room with water view. From everything I've read (the good and the bad) I think we will be pleased. We are a small family: me, DH and DD who is 4 and loves all things Disney. What 4yr old doesn't?!? I want to capitalize on the pirate theme and have Tinkerbell deliver a Zarina doll and book while we stay. That should give a little girly spin on the masculine pirate room. ARghh!

Thanks so much for a beautiful opening to the thread. The pictures and info are awesome!! WE can't wait!!:yay:

Don't worry about the construction, you won't even know it's going on. You may catch a glimpse as you drive by on the bus but that's it. The construction won't be anywhere near the pirate rooms. Enjoy!

I don't usually re-post photos but thought it was appropriate for this question; Lisa, are they cases or 12 packs? It looks like they could just be 12 but it's hard to tell.

Just wanted to say that I loved my stay at CBR a couple of weeks ago during marathon weekend. Was my first time there & had a corner room in Aruba building 52. To me it seemed like a good location, not too far from the bus stop or from the Food Court for me. Liked the room. Was the first Disney room I stayed in that had a nice solid door instead of a curtain separating the bathroom area. Enjoyed my stay there.

Thanks so much for all that reassurance! Makes all the difference when approaching vacation with NO WORRIES! Thanks!!
