Hi.
I will be visiting from Australia in Dec, we have 14 nights at the resort.
Yet, we got free dining too .
2nd visit to WDW but last time we stayed at pop.
So we fly in from L.A and I guess we will put our bags under the bus like we did last time and then if I have read the first post correct, someone can take them to our room for us when we get to CBR and check in.
Do I tip this guy? Sorry but tipping is not something we do in Australia. So I just want to make sure I know if I have to offer him a tip.
The room should be ready, cause we don't get into MC O until about 5.30pm. I Won't feel like lugging them up a flight of stairs myself.
I called and asked if we could have a room with the murphy bed, even tbough only 4 of us. hope they give it too us, otherwise i have to sleep with 17 year old son! not liking my chances as it is going to be booked out with xmas i think.

Welcome! You can have Bell Services take you and your bags to your room when you arrive at CBR. Yes, you should tip this person.

Have a wonderful trip!

Made our reservations last night and it looks like we are officially staying at the CBR this spring!

We are starting to talk among our group about room requests. My mom has rheumatoid arthritis in her legs/knees so walking long distances are hard for her. We did book a standard room though. Which area should we request to be as close as possible to OPR?

Not sure if Martinique or Trinidad North have and standard rooms, but if they do, they're the closest. After that, it's Jamaica, but she will have to cross the bridge with an incline to get to OPR from there.

Thank you! I will ask her about the incline but in the past it's normally just been due to long distances without stopping.

Just noticed this post (http://www.disboards.com/threads/th...ii-updated-7-2.3348628/page-185#post-54052535) says essentially the same thing I just said, in response to a question that was essentially the same one you asked :)

But without a cool bridge photo, of course.

Check out the map, and you should be able to determine a good building for her.

Also worth noting is that CBR runs internal buses that you can take to get to OPR.

Oops. I must have had the thread opened too long on my desktop so I didn't see your post. :rolleyes1

Trinidad North and Martinique are very close to OPR. Jamaica 45 is right over the bridge from OPR. I have never had an issue with requesting a room with my wife's and my physical issues. I got a preferred location last September even though I didn't pay or ask for preferred, just asked for a ground floor room because of the issues. This map shows the building numbers.

That's great, thank you. Did you make your request just before arriving or online checkin? I've never actually made a request before so unsure of the best way to do so

For anyone else wondering about walking time/distance I did a quick calculation from the center of each building group to the middle of OPR. Here is what google said:

To Trinidad North: 5 min, .2 mi
To Trinidad South: 8 min, .4 mi
To Martinque: 4 min, .2 mi
To Barbados: 5 min, .3 mi
To Aruba: 6 min, .3 mi
To Jamacia: 5 min, .2 mi

If you want to mess with it yourself you can do it here:

I've always requested right after I made the reservations on line. I waited until I got a confirmation number, then called WDW and gave them my request. Have never requested anything at on-line check-in, just winged it and have gotten lucky.

EXCELLENT!!!! The "extreme" size of CBR is overstated. Even if you are in the furthest south Jamaica (41 or 42) building, add maybe 2 minutes to your walk.

Are the preferred rooms in a certain building or group of building?
Preferred locations at CBR are Martinique 24-26, and Trinidad North. Jamaica 46 is right near the bridge and is a short walk, but it is not preferred. They are no different in size than a standard room. They are routinely closer to OPR or they overlook the pool/lake. With that said, if you really need to be near OPR or transportation, call WDW directly and call them often. At about 15 days out, have the CM read back your request(s) to you. I have never asked for a preferred room, but have been lucky in the regards that I have had a preferred room 2-3 times just by happenstance.
This should help answer your questions!!!

Is it safe to assume that the first 2 digits of a room number is your building number? Curios since online check in texts you your room.
