Resort Thread Disney's BOARDWALK INN Resort

If you want to see fireworks from your balcony then don't request a boardwalk view since you will not see any fireworks with a BW view. Now you need to decide if you want try to see the higher Epcot Illumination shells or the new HS Star Wars higher shells and lasers from your balcony. Let me know and I can suggest some sample room "views".

Here is why there is some confusion concerning the BW CL rooms / views:

The Standard Room, Standard View (SV) CL category rooms are all located on the 4th floor, and they all have some type of "view" from the balcony: Boardwalk Courtyard, Leisure Pool or Boardwalk(Village Green/Boardwalk/Crescent Lake). Some are located within the InnKeepers Club (behind the access doors) and about a dozen are between the elevators and the CL access doors.

There are no Standard Room CL rooms on the 3rd floor only the 5 Deluxe CL rooms that are SV but actually have a boardwalk view.

There is only one bookable "Deluxe CL" category: Standard View. Since all 10 Deluxe CL rooms have boardwalk views, that explains why there is only one category for this room type. As mentioned above, 5 on the 3rd floor and 5 on the 4th floor. They all sleep up to 6, 2 QB, and 1 Q pull-out sofa.

There is also a bookable Boardwalk View CL category: here are the view options, Boardwalk Inn Gardens, Crescent Lake or Boardwalk.

Finally, there is a group of Outer Building Garden view rooms on the 1st floor with views of the Courtyard / quite pool that have CL access. Nice rooms that used to be called the "Honeymoon' cottages.

Summary: There are a limited number Standard Room CL rooms that have a true "boardwalk view" and only a subset qualify as a SV room. So while you can request a BW view when you book a SV room, please don't expect to get a BW view. Yes it does and has happened in the past but it remains a "request" only.

Note: I skipped the Presidential Suite, VP Suite and the other 4th floor suites for this discussion but they also have CL access.

Oh geez...........I have no idea now what I should request. This is awesome info, thank you so much. Maybe I should just cancel that Boardwalk view request and just wing it and see what we get. Seems like any way you look at it you could get a nice view from any of the CL rooms, standard view. It's not like we spend a ton of time on our balcony's, but if there is something amazing to watch at night time you can bet we will all be out there with a drink and the kiddos on our laps:)..............ughhh, the decisions...LOL.

On another note.......does anyone have any current info on what food offerings are available in the CL lounge? I found some info on the CL forum but it seems like it was a few years old and I didn't know if the items have changed or not.

Has anyone seen more of a security presence since the shootings? We will be there in 5 days and my wife is freaking out. I know this type of thing can happen anywhere, but when you are staying somewhere hundreds of miles away with 4 small kids, it is a little unnerving.

I have tried to ease her fears and hopefully, once we arrive, she will be more at ease.

Have saw that security getting into the parks was more tight especially since Sunday's tragedy

We had an amazing vacation and it’s tough to be back at work. Just wanted to give a brief review.

I used the Touring Plans fax request service and we pretty much got what we wanted. It was a different floor (which turned out to be better!), but it was one of the rooms in the exact location I wanted. Below is an afternoon view and a sunrise view:

This was our first stay on the inn side -- we had stayed at a 1 BR villa a couple of years ago. Without a doubt, this is my favorite resort. I love the pool, the boardwalk area, walking to 2 parks. We utilized the Belle Vue Lounge for both breakfast and for evening drinks (happened to strike up a conversation one night with someone who only lives 30 minutes away from us -- @disneynut , come out of lurkdom if you’re out there!). We rented a surrey bike. We ate at the ESPN Club for lunch, Trattoria al Forno for dinner, the Boardwalk to Go kiosk and Leaping Horse Libations 2-3 times, and stopped at Ample Hills Creamery twice (delish!).

We saw plenty of entertainers, including one rainy night inside the BWI next to the Belle Vue Lounge. Bus transportation was really good for us, but we were obviously walking/boating more than taking a bus.

What was the room number?

Wonderful view! Love the "Eiffel Tower" in the distance. We had a room in that area for our first visit to the BWI. That made the BWI our "home" for many visits.

Has BWI done away with the clock radios and given you the USB plugs?

When I was there last month, there was no clock radio in the room. I called housekeeping and they brought one to me, set it up, and moved the nightstand to plug it in. They were very accommodating !
thank you, my daughter and I will be there in two weeks and was hoping that if they removed the clock that they had added a strip to the front of the nightstand to make it easy to plug in devices

We're staying in a studio at the BWV for the first time from July 8-10! DH and I must be mad because this will be our third trip this year.

In the past, I've typically hated the BWI because every time I've stayed there, it has been noisy and the rooms were always a little damp/musty. I want to give it another chance, especially since I've never stayed in a villa before, so are there any tips for requesting quieter villa areas? Or any other tips generally? I'm scouring this page of course, but thought I'd ask too! :)

We were at BWI last Wednesday for one night, 5 women, 2 standard rooms booked. We got upgraded to CL Boardwalk view, rooms 4225 & 4227. Major pixie dust! My GF loved the rooms and overlooking the boardwalk. And also the lounge, the staff was as awesome as I remembered my last stay in CL Oct 2012. One of the rooms was deluxe, was great for our "relaxing" in the afternoon. I also introduced them to Belleview lounge and sitting on the balcony enjoying a glass of wine at night after Illuminations. This is our annual beach/Disney trip and I think next year we will be booking club, easier when splitting 5 ways. The day we checked out, I contacted my TA about Nov stay at BWI to see if CL available, sadly it is not. Trips like this reinforce why our favorite resort is BWI and why our family loves Disney!

We've stayed CL at BC, YC, Poly, CR and WL. I'm considering it for this trip but even with the AP rate it's like an additional $170 per night. That's hefty for myself and my 19 year old daughter. I can justify it when we have all four in the room but not for two. Although some birthday pixie dust would be nice :D
