Resort Thread Disney's BOARDWALK INN Resort

I think you may be on to something. So far, they seem to be beta testing this at CR.

Great seeing your photos and thank you for posting your video, too, @lffam:)

:yay: I hope we get some photos!

Yippee for first choice!

Bumping your GV questions and congratulations on booking the GV! I'll add your dates to PAGE 1.

Welcome! I'm not the BWV expert on this thread, but I do know that you would have to have the owner add any requests to your reservation. I really don't think you'll shave too much time off your walk to Epcot if you request a villa that is "closer." But, if you're further from Epcot, then you're closer to DHS.

I believe you're correct that DVC villa requests, especially bookings using points, are less likely to be met than non-DVC and cash reservations. I think you'll be pleased with your walk to Epcot no matter which one-bedroom you're in as the furthest is maybe only 5 minutes further.

Thank you for always being the faithful DIS GPS, @dansdad:)

Thank you for posting about the amenities, @Sandi

Thanks for reporting about AHC and $9??!! A Kitchen Sink is only $20 more and at B&C, their shake is $5.49... And to think any size shake at McDonalds is $1.99. I know, I know: location, location, location.

I didn't realize this wasn't posted. EasyWDW (Josh) posted a review of Ample Hills a few days ago. He thought the ice cream was worth the extra charge over the Edy's you get at Beaches and Cream. But he also thought the shakes weren't worth it as opposed to one of their special cones.

I posted most of these pictures on my Trip Report here from our stay in December 2015.

Here are some photos of Villa 3103 as well as some photos from the lobby and the Boardwalk itself. I have some more which I will post in the trip report over the next few posts, if you want to see more posted here let me know and I'd be happy to.

There is also a short video/room tour (sorry about the focusing, I should have stuck with my video camera but was trying to video on my new dSLR and hadn’t really worked out the focusing on the video (still haven’t lol)

Love all your great pics! They look just like the ones we have in our digital frame at home :) Great shots!

They really are a joy to look at :) I see you have photos of WL, did you stay there? We were invited to their grand opening and loved it! (We've since stayed there dozens of times). Such a lovely hotel :)

Yes we did stay at WL in 2013. This was our first WDW experience and we absolutely loved, so much we came back (from Australia) 2 years later but this time state at BWV. I just posted some WL pics on my trip report from Christmas last year when we went back to see the resort again.

What did you think of BWV overall? We've stayed there countless times... each time being a different experience.

Loved it. Location for us you can't beat. Being able to walk to two parks and have 2 other Disney resorts in walking distance also was so great. We didn't spend much time at the pool , but loved the community centre (I think that's what it's called ) and sitting out on the veranda off the lobby overlooking the boardwalk and the lake. The atmosphere on the Boardwalk was also great.

We love sitting out there... so beautiful and peaceful.

wow I just saw over 550 trips! 2 for us !

I stopped counting after 550... too much math lol! :) Actually, I've been going to WDW since it opened in 1971 with my 2nd trip being in April, 1972 (I'm an oldie :) ) When I lived in Chicago (born and raised) we would visit several times a year. However, we've been living in South Florida for a very, very long time now and traveling to Disney can be done in a day. We can leave in the morning, spend the day, and be back in our own beds the same evening. We've done that a few times (about 6 or so) but all the other trips included on-site hotel stays.

We've had many, many special experiences at WDW including attending the grand opening of The Boardwalk. They had a scavenger hunt! It was so much fun! Other grand openings include MGM Studios (ah, the memories), Blizzard Beach, AKL, WL, Pop Century, AofA and so many others.

It's a long way for us to come, and while we love it, we think the next time will come is when there some new lands to see. But if they are too far off well who knows we might sneak a trip in!

I can certainly imagine what a long trip it is for you! Such an adventure! WDW is such a magical place :) pixiedust:

We just returned last night. There were never long lines at the Creamery. I got a shake one night and I had no wait. The staff was very happy to let people try different flavors, etc. While I was waiting for my shake, four other people came in to get ice cream and they were immediately helped. The ice cream was good, but I don't think I'll pay $9 for a shake there again. Some of the flavors are a little too weird for me. To me, good ice cream stands on its own and doesn't need a bunch of tricks. If you were asking a different question, let me know and I'll try to answer.
I agree with this. I had a scoop of vanilla with hot fudge, and the hot fudge was great, but the ice cream, even vanilla, had absolutely no flavor, and was grainy. My DH had the Coffee toffee coffee, and it was creamy and had a good flavor, but I think I'll head to France for ice cream in December.

I walked to the NY Pier to check out the ships in for fleet week. On the way back, stopped into the Ample Hills creamery on 11th and 45th. OMG I am so sorry I hadn't discovered this before. Or maybe it's better off I hadn't.

Is there a picture anywhere of the Bellevue Lounge's coffee menu? If not, does anyone know if I can get lattes, cappuccinos etc. using DDP snack credits? Can we get coffee refills there with our reuseable mugs, or will we need to plan on visiting the Boardwalk Bakery for those?

Coffee's an important part of the morning routine and I'm not a fan of the in room pods. :teeth:

Also, I saw someone mentioned on a thread on the Budget Board that you can get a whole pizza, two drinks, and two desserts for two CS credits. Is that true, and can we do so at the Boardwalk pizza window?

There are a couple of big urns of coffee in the Lounge in the morning. You can use your refillable mug to get that coffee. That's the only one of your questions I can answer.

I think that post was referring to the in room pizza deal. I do not know if you can do that at the Boardwalk pizza window but I do know you can get a slice, a bag of chips or side salad and a drink for 1 CS credit.
I think the coffee menu would read - regular or decaf :)
I don't believe there are specialty coffees at Bellevue lounge. You can refill your coffee mug as Sandi mentioned and you can use snack credits to get muffins, cinnamon buns and bagels.

ETA: Boardwalk Joe's has specialty coffees but I don't know if you can use snack credits for them. You do have to walk outside onto the Boardwalk to get your coffee though.
