Resort Thread Disney's BOARDWALK INN Resort

This thread is full of great info. We are staying at BWI for the first time 6/21 - 7/2 and I am pumped!!! Got a great rate through cheaptickets on a Standard View room, so I switched us from POR (our usual place). Didn't know what a TP room request fax was until I read through this thread and what do you know, I already have a TP membership, might as well use it to its fullest.

Thanks to everyone in this thread, it is great!!

Just have to say I love your screen name! :thumbsup2

Glad you had a good trip!! Did you make a special room request to get that room? I would love a view of the HS fireworks!
We did not make a special request- we just asked for upper floor and close to the elevator

Waiting for a response/confirmation hopefully on my request for a Boardwalk Villa studio. Fingers crossed :genie:

The funny thing is that room would be nowhere close to the elevator. I guess the view made up for it?

If they weren't bound by the timeshare rules, those rooms would probably have been reclassified as a Theme Park View already. ;)

Just arrived. Didn't get the room type I requested through touring plans or the on-line check in, but we'll be fine. The safe didn't work, so it was just fixed and now they are vacuuming the little mess they made doing that. Now I am off to the parks. I have a FP+ with Toy Story!

Hello helpful BWI fans. I just booked our first stay there April 1 - 9, 2017. We will be at Disney to celebrate my parent's 50th anniversary. We will be staying in a 2 bedroom on rented points. (never done that before, so a little nervous) We have stayed in standard rooms at the BC before and that was our first choice for this trip but there weren't enough points available for rent right away so we talked to a few friends and found that most preferred BWI anyway, so we switched. We love being able to walk to both Epcot and DHS. It will be my parents, me, DH, DS19 and DS15, so it will be really handy for the teenagers. There will be other family staying at Disney to join in the celebrations, but they have different budget constraints so will be staying at a value.

Awww, too bad about the room requests. Hope you have a great trip!

Today is the middle of my short stay. Our room, even though it is facing the circle drive to the main entrance, is quiet. I asked for and received a box fan from housekeeping. It really helps with the white noise. I always use a fan at home, so it is helpful. I'm not sure how many they have, but love having it. Housekeeping has been excellent. There is a great deal of construction going on -- particularly on the Villa side. Parking was no problem for DH and he says there are empty spots -- you might just have to drive around to get to them. We ate at Trattoria last night. I had never been there before and really enjoyed it. The ravioli of the day was a corn ravioli -- so yummy. DH got the meatball and it was good, too. We also tried the cured meat appetizer and added the mozzarella -- also a good choice. We were full after dinner, but got pastries from the Boardwalk Bakery to have later -- they made it to our room and then we dove in.

omg... just read the two articles on DPB and TP on Flying Fish and the new bar....and noticed they said opening END OF SUMMER???!!! Flying Fish is our fav restaurant and were devastated it was going to be closed during our trip to BWI the 3rd week of September. I thought it was not reopening until late November! Do you think that late summer could mean September?!!

The latest estimate I've seen is what you saw last week in DPB of LATE SUMMER, so I would say that looks like September to me:)

It is Paul who is currently having a little work done (a foot issue!); Todd is still on display in the lobby! :thumbsup2

Not those bunions again? Thanks for the update, @RachelTori.

Just got a bit of pixie dust sent my way as my wait list request for a "boardwalk" view room just came through today for our December trip! Very excited! :worship:MS You Rock!

:yay:

Just got back from a week in a 2 bedroom suite in the BWV. Rooms 5087/5089 overlooked the Community Hall and pool, and the canal to DHS...with a view of Tower of Terror and the Star Wars fireworks! This was from our balcony...

Great photo! Thank you for posting it, @Aunt Dani.

I've had foot issues, too, so maybe it's something with the name. ;)

Like Paul Bunyan?:duck:

Welcome to our little thread, @w84no1. I'll log your dates on PAGE 1:)

What a great way to celebrate your parent's 50th and I'll log your dates:)

2 rooms Standard CL

Last and final

Unanimous Pas clan decision

Buuuuuut, what happened to Poly? Where'd it go? Since it's unanimous, I'll re-re-add your dates to the log...before you change your mind again - last and final isn't always so final;)

Thanks for checking in with us and reporting on parking for everyone. It sounds like you're having a great time even though you didn't get exactly what you requested. I love those box fans, too so I'm always happy they provide them.

Over on the CR thread, recent CR guests are reporting that in both the Tower and the Garden Wing Standard Rooms, they received daily bottles of Dasani water and toiletries previously only offered in suites and some CL rooms. Have any of you experienced this recently at BWI or any other Deluxe Standard rooms?

That sounds like the first step in charging a resort fee...

I posted most of these pictures on my Trip Report here from our stay in December 2015.

Here are some photos of Villa 3103 as well as some photos from the lobby and the Boardwalk itself. I have some more which I will post in the trip report over the next few posts, if you want to see more posted here let me know and I'd be happy to.

There is also a short video/room tour (sorry about the focusing, I should have stuck with my video camera but was trying to video on my new dSLR and hadn’t really worked out the focusing on the video (still haven’t lol)

 What is funny is my TA is even happy with this change. Why I couldn't stay put with Poly.....IDK but I do know it was the cheapest CL choice but not my 1st choice. I am VERY happy to be able to get the Pas-lettes there!!!

Pas130-the meet & greet is back on!!:sunny:
YES! :teeth::goodvibes

Does anyone know if the large walk-in closets off the bedroom differ in the rooms? We stayed at VWL last time and were looking forward to the closet but our closet ended up not having a sliding door but an actual door and jt was smaller then others we had seen.

Are all BWV 1 bedroom closets the same?

Love the one in that picture in the previous thread, I'm hoping g they are all like that.

We've stayed in the 1BRs I think five times now, and the only difference I can remember is the balconies. Those can vary greatly. Otherwise I think they're all the same. At least nothing sticks out! :).

Just note the pictures above are from a pre-refurb room. They all should be pretty much done by now.
