Resort Thread Disney's BOARDWALK INN Resort

I'll add your dates to our log and give a big shout out to Tokyo Dining, IMHO, the most consistent of all the WS TSs. We always have excellent service and meals and usually go at least twice during vacation. View of the WSL is amazing, so ask for a window seat;)

Have never tried Tokyo dining but I've seen a couple comments like this so maybe it's time to try it. Thanks for the suggestion!

yes, you can request a poll view close to the lobby. you can also request a view of the LUNA pool (as opposed to the villas pool, which will be a long walk to the elevators)

the one time we had preferred view, we requested the Village green area. it is not a pool view... it is not a boardwalk of standard view either.

but the rooms are VERY close to the elevators, and the balconies look out on the front courtyard area in front of the lobby. we thought it was really cool! it's kind of a "semi" boardwalk view... you can see a bit of crescent lake and watch the people coming and going from the lobby or the parking lot (which you can't see! yay) to the boardwalk. we watched a bridal party, all dressed up walking out.. you see the entertainers. walking out it's pretty cool. and! we could see the tops of illuminations.

we LOVED!!! it.. hubby was actually, this time. considering requestion preferred view over boardwalk view, since there aren't a lot of boardwalk studis close to the elevators. but we went with boardwalk view. I was afraid of getting a villas pool view and having a very long walk.... hubby doesn'
t walk so well, what with his bum foot and poor vision.

Thanks for all the info! This will help us a lot when we decide what to request :goodvibes

I think everyone was planning on requesting the Luna pool view, but the long walk to the elevators may change that :rotfl:

I think you misunderstood.. it is the Villas quiet pool that has the long walk to the lobby and elevators.

the Luna Poll is near the lobby and elevators. It depends on which side of the luna pool you are. but some of those rooms are very near the elevators and lobby. some were directly across the hall from us when we were in the "village green" section.

I definitely misread what you wrote, oops! I'm glad the Luna pool is near the elevators. That will make the decision of what to request easy :goodvibes
Thank you again! You've been so helpful!

go to the first few posts of this thread.. take some time to look over the map and click on the links in post 8 (I think) that show views, etc.

the village green area is called Courtyard view on this link. these rooms are above the WYland Gallery ( "O" ) on the map.. you can see that they are all almost studios.

the rooms surrounding the luna Pool are also pretty close to the elevators. but you can see the the rooms around the villas pool are further away.

What a nice, long stay! Let us know if you have any questions.

Thank you! I'm sure there will be lots of questions :) We have already started planning our days and things we want to do on the trip. It's still eight months until the trip, but planning is half the fun! :woohoo:

Thanks for this thread! I have already gotten a lot of helpful info!

good morning everyone and happy new year!
we are only about 85 days out from our March-April stay at the Boardwalk. My mom fell Christmas nite and broke her foot in 3 places and we are now postponing the trip so she can heal properly.
We are all very sad as we have been planning for a year now but want her to be able to enjoy the trip as much as possible.
We are thinking heading down in October for Food and Wine, something none of us have ever experienced.
Curious as to what the weather is like that time of year. We did get trip insurance so hopefully its easy enough to postpone the trip. Anyone have any experience in doing this?

Hi! I'm jumping in on this thread after reading through the first few pages. I just booked a studio at BWV for a late April stay. DH and I are going to Universal for the first time for three days, then coming to BWV for my Disney fix! I really wanted to see the Flower and Garden Festival and we decided to splurge for an Epcot resort for three days. I'm getting excited! I got the Spring discount, plus an extra 15% discount from Orbitz, so I think it was a good rate. I really like some of the Studio room pics that I've seen, but others look rather dated--kind of like the spare bedroom in my Grandmother's house when I was a kid (many years ago!). When I booked, it just said "Studio" so I assume it's a standard view. The only deluxe we've done is a pre-Christmas trip to BC a few years ago and I paid about $40 more a night for that then what I paid for this trip. Anyway, I'm thankful for this thread (and the DIS in general!) because I can always get so much info here!

Heading on our 2nd BWI trip from May 13-19 2015! We went in November 2013 for our Honeymoon and cannot wait to enjoy our second stay there. It will also be our first Star Wars Weekend trip! Whats the word on Trattoria al Forno? Worth making a reservation for?

The good? The temperatures start to moderate and the humidity starts to go down. the later in the month you can visit, the better the temps and humidity will be.

The bad? You are still in hurricane season, so your trip insurance is a good idea. We got very lucky this year, but we can get October storms, such as Wilma in 2005, that could change your plans.

Weather in April would be drier, cooler and no risk of hurricane, but October is not a bad time to visit.

Hi!!
My family of 5 will be staying in a Standard Studio in November!! Are the refurbishments of the villas expected to be done by then?
Also, where are most of the studio rooms located. I'm not concerned about my view. I'm hoping to get a room close to the Boardwalk. We booked our room through a bounce back offer and aren't currently dvc members

Rooms booked through CRO are usually given pool/garden view. Studios are located throughout the resort. There are a few studios that face the courtyard on the boardwalk side (Village Green) that have a partial boardwalk view and are close to the elevators, you may want to request that.

We are heading to BWV (BW view studio) 4/19/2015 through 4/24/2015. :cool1:

Do the villas still have comforters or have they switched the bedding? We haven't stayed here since 2007 and are looking forward to it.
I believe they still have the bedspreads until the rehab that's starting this year:confused3. I'll add your dates to the BoardWalk Bulletin.

happy 2015! counting down to our 2nd April stay at BWV!

So sorry about your DM's accident. It sounds like a really bad break and letting it heal properly will make for a more comfortable vacation. Let us know when you re-schedule and good luck to your mom.

Checking in at BWI one week from today!!!!
Yay! It's almost time! What color will the nails be?

Nice to have you with us and I have to agree that the BWV decor is a bit outdated, hence the 2015 (much needed) rehab. But, you got a great rate:goodvibes

Congratulations and I'll log your dates. HERE, in our fine thread, is what I think is the first internet review with photos of TaF, courtesy of the great psac who ate there opening night and posted his review the next day:worship:

:welcome: to the DIS and the BWI/BWV thread, Mvdisney1! We're honored to have your first post here. From the permits it seems the rehab should be done since the permits expire at the end of the year. You can call to add your request to your reservation of a rehabbed room that is close to the BW. Let us know if you have any other questions.

Just returned home from BWV. We had a wonderful time! Sad to come home, but happy to return again in August :)

Okay I have a really strange question. We're adding a little detour to our trip since my father has finally decided to get remarried while The fiancé and I are on our honeymoon. They're going to have a short beach ceremony at Cocoa Beach one evening and I've already reserved a rental car to pick up and drop off that same day at the Dolphin. My question is since I'm going to pick up the car around noon since we'll be coming back from Cape May Breakfast and when we need to leave for the ceremony the rental place will be closing will I be able to park the car at The Boardwalk with no problems? We'll be resort guests anyways but we're using magical express so I doubt we'll be given a parking pass when we check in. Anyone have any experience with this? I realize this is a pretty specific scenario.

Think AUGUST! It'll be here sooner than you think.

Not strange at all. You can always ask at the check-in desk for a parking pass since you're a registered guest. Since you're ME, it won't be prepared ahead of time, but they can print one up for you anytime.

just ask for a parking pass when you check in (saves an additional trip to the front desk).

Hey all, was MIA for a bit. I think I had Post Disney Depression!*

For this question, even though they are doing a bedding refurb this year in the villas, last month we had just a runner, and not a full (yucky) comforter. I'm pretty sure they made the runners out of the old comforters, though, so we still tried not to touch it too much! :crazy2:

*(Not trying to insult anyone who has real depression of course!)
