Resort Thread Disney's BOARDWALK INN Resort

hubby and I will be there from the 21st until check out the 27th! (after 4 nights at GF villas!)
see you at the pool!

Hey smidgy I will be the one with the two crazy blonde boys cannon balling each other :):beach:

We had a wonderful trip a couple of weeks ago. This was our view

We booked a bounceback for Dec. 2015. So far away....

What a great thread! DS34 and I have booked a one bedroom standard view villa from 1/25-2/1. This is our first time at the Boardwalk, and we're really excited. :woohoo:

Not being very familiar with the BWV, I'm not sure what location would be best for us. I have chronic pain issues, and though I do pretty well walking throughout the day, by evening I'm just ready to be in the room ASAP! I requested a lower floor so I wouldn't be facing multiple flights of stairs (there's just one elevator, right?), but since I don't have a clue where where the standard view one bedroom units are, I'm really not sure what I should be asking for. Most nights we'll be walking or taking a boat from Epcot. Any suggestions?

We stayed at bw this summer for a quick trip because it was where we could get a dvc room with points for most of the stay. We didn't expect to love it but we did. I have booked 8 nights over my sons spring break 3/6-3/14. It will be myself 5 year old and my mom. Our first long stay at an Epcot resort. We are planning world showcase dinners most nights. Any tips?

Standard view, first floor, near elevator will get you close to wear the DME buses load up. It can get noisy with the clanking of the luggage racks. But, it would also be convenient to the laundry room and exit to the Boardwalk boat ramp.

Hi we are staying at the BWV for the first time in April. Do all Studios have balconies? And are they open balconies or walled? Thank you this thread has been a lifesaver! Oh and can you add our trip April 21-29, Thans:flower3:

On the ground floor, you can walk right out into the front yard. I guess you could make it to the pool if you hop the shrubbery. :lmao:
For some reason, I can't remember the ones not on the first floor. Sorry.

They're really beautiful and it's too bad they aren't offered any longer. I also ordered one for DD the same day they stopped issuing paper certificates and I'm glad I did.
.

Welcome back from vacation. I kept putting off the certificates until I saw they were ending and quickly ordered one for me. I wish I had ordered one for both my dds now.

Are you asking for dining reservations on the WS? I like splitting a pizza with th family at Via Napoli. We also had a really good meal at Nine Dragons, which was not expected based on the reviews there. If you aren't wanting to eat at WS every night, my favorite sandwich is the Lobster Roll at the Boardwalk Bakery.

If you booked the standard view with points, you will be looking out towards the parking lot and entrance to the BW. Go with a higher floor to get a quieter villa.

If you booked the standard view for cash directly from Disney, that's a pool/garden view on points.

I had that lobster roll twice on our short trip last summer. Loved it :)

we love via napoli and will be eating there for sure. we haven't done a lot of epcot dinners though because we have not stayed in the area for long stays until now. thanks for the input!

There are so many options at the Resort restaurants and WS, which adds to our enjoyment of the Boardwalk. I'll be happy to provide my other WS dining reviews, which were in no particular order other than my memory.

Tutto Italia was excellent food, excellent service, and very formal (dress, decor). I felt way more comfortable at via Napoli, especially after a park day with dds.

The San Angel Inn is beautiful inside, especially a view of the boats going by. But, th flavor of the food is better at the other one (Hacienda). We have some excellent authentic Mexican restaurants here in my home town, run by immigrants, and the food is amazing so we really don't go to the ones a WDW.

I like Akershus Norway for princess breakfast with my dds. Never tried for dinner.

Biergarten was not enjoyable for me. The food and beer was ok, but it has communal seating. I'm fine to sit next to others, but it is at picnic tables. After all that time at the parks, I want a chair to sit and lean back and recover. This was really disappointing as I like draft beer and wanted to make this a return experience.

Le Cellier is excellent (service, food) and now a signature so pricey. We haven't been back for dinner since converted to signature, not because of the money, just because there are so many options.

Nine dragons was a pleasant surprise. I didn't have ADRs but we were tired and decided to try something new. The food was better than Chinese buffets that i have been too. I had the honey chicken and it tasted fresh. All of us enjoyed it. It was around $70 for all four of us, which included beer for me.

The Japanese hibachi grill was good, although I think it is hard to ruin fresh food cooked right in front of you, unless it is over seasoned. The show was fun. But, it was nothing over the top of other similar style restaurants I've tried over the years, so we haven't really returned.

Chefs de France was average. The food and service was average. I tried escargot. I thought it was a little too loud inside the restaurant for me.

While there are still have more to try at Epcot, Via Napoli and Akershus breakfast have been repeated the most. ESPN Club over on the Boardwalk wins out for its draft beer (Yuengling), bar food, and inexpensive (Disney) prices.

We rented points through David's for our upcoming trip. Our reservation last time was made directly through Disney. A few weeks before our trip we got some coupons. There was one for Planet Hollywood, the arcade, and a few other places. Will we get that this time?

I have a question for all the BWI experts. I am planning a trip to the BWI CL from Feb. 22 - Feb.28 with my son (he's 21) and my sister-in-law has now agreed to come with us. I asked the IPO about having a pullout couch because no one is happy with sharing a bed. They told me they would note it on my room request but that not all rooms have a pull out. We will be staying in a standard club level and I thought they all had the pull out couches. Does anyone know? I need to start figuring out who is sharing a bed if they don't all sleep 5 to a room.

Thanks! I have reservations at the Japanese hibachi, akershus, via Napoli, San angel inn, and rose and crown. We also have chefs de France but I'm thinking about switching to tutto Italia. We have done a lot of signature dining and aren't huge le cellier fans anyways. It's not bad but I think if we do any signature dining on this trip it will be mp in France or maybe yachtsman.

I really appreciate your input!

Welcome. I'm always happy to talk food, and prefer to eat it :lmao:

We've been thru most of the signature dining restaurants at WDW as well, which we usually do on non-park days. You have a good list - please post after the trip and let us know how everything went.

Did the BWV just have a rehab? I thought I heard that they did. If so does anyone have any pictures post rehab? Especially interested in studios but any will do, just want an idea of what they changed.

Also, any recommendations for room requests for a Std view Studio that is not a far walk to the boats/bus stop, my Mom is going to be 76 and I'm trying to minimize her walking :)

Thanks!!!

I will be there the same time with my son, his family and one of my daughters!! Yes, you will have a pull out bed. You are going to love the BWI, my favorite place to stay!!!

Hello can you add our dates also April 21-29. Thank you!!!
They were already posted, but I edited the dates:)

We had a wonderful trip a couple of weeks ago. This was our view

Beautiful view and you can see the Buskers, too. December will be here before you know it, heck, it's almost January!

Welcome to the thread and I'll log your dates in our BoardWalk Bulletin.

I'll add your dates to our log and give a big shout out to Tokyo Dining, IMHO, the most consistent of all the WS TSs. We always have excellent service and meals and usually go at least twice during vacation. View of the WSL is amazing, so ask for a window seat;)

I'll post your dates:). Just confirming what Kerry posted that all the CL rooms (and non-CL) have a daybed. The only sleeper sofas though are in the Deluxe CL rooms.

Welcome. I'm always happy to talk food, and prefer to eat it :lmao:
:rotfl:
Unless that song, "All about that bass" is talking about fish, it's really all about that food:hyper:

KOOK family plan: We talk about ADRs months in advance, I pull-up the current menus for a refresher, we end up booking the same restaurants pretty much every visit, then we talk about our ADRs in the car down and after we arrive and actually eat, we talk about our next ADR. It's pretty much a continuous vacation food discussion loop.

No, BWV will begin a villa rehab next year, but all the BWI rooms were rehabbed this year. Photos of the new BWI rooms appear at the beginning of the ROOM chapter of the thread.

The bus stop and the boat dock are on opposite sides of the resort. The boat dock is "way in back" and the bus stop is "way in the front" near the parking lot and Convention Center. You'd need to pick one you'd rather be close to or ask to be in the middle:confused3

I will be there the same time with my son, his family and one of my daughters!! Yes, you will have a pull out bed. You are going to love the BWI, my favorite place to stay!!!
I know your DD is going to love BWI CL just as much as you do.

We are heading to BWV (BW view studio) 4/19/2015 through 4/24/2015. :cool1:

Do the villas still have comforters or have they switched the bedding? We haven't stayed here since 2007 and are looking forward to it.

Yes, maybe my growing waistline likes the food too much. :lmao:

I try to do at least one new ADR each trip. One of these days, DW and I will get to V&A's, but I'm not sure when those days will be. We plan our ADRs for each park day and then the non-park days. We too find we tend to re-visit out favorites quite often, and it is becoming more difficult to get in one new per trip. I've tried to avoid DTD the last few trips with the construction, which has made it more difficult.

They just had the white bedding in our room in October. We were 1st floor standard studio.

No. Your reservation is made by the owner of the points and not Disney. DVC owners don't get these.

The rehab at BWV will take out the dresser and table and replace them with the murphy bed/table combination.
