Resort Thread Disney's BOARDWALK INN Resort

We check in 30 days from today! Our first stay (and no kids). How likely are we to get a king size bed if we ask for one?

Everyone gone and just the AirGoofy family and pas130 + DH - love it! Don't fall asleep on CoP, you may never make it off.

TWO DAYS NOW!!! Are we packed?:rolleyes1
As the Queen of Pack-crastination (although I was ready a day or two early last summer) I proudly proclaim that I'm pretty sure of what I want to pack...I'm working until 10pm tomorrow so that's when I'll pack ;) I've got time, my flight is at 6am. I mean it's not like I'll be able to sleep
I hope you have a wonderful trip!
Thank you

Well, since everyone is singing the praises of BW, I would love to hear peoples' opinions on the BWV v. BCV. If there is anyone who has stayed at both, and maybe even a 2 BR at both, I would love to hear them compared. I am really enjoying learning about the BW and everyone makes it sound like such a great place to stay. I was thinking of it as a 2nd choice in case I am not able to get BCV, but I am starting to wonder whether BWV should be my first choice!

Stayed at both in studio. I really liked both. I like the water slide better at BWV and community hall. I also enjoy getting pizza from Boardwalk window and eating it poolside. I prefer the shorter walk to DHS. Beach Club has better access points and SAB.

Ultimately, it is cheaper for me to stay on points at BWV so that makes it my favorite.

Is this a good thread to post some pictures from a recent BWV stay or is there another thread?

::yes::

Great pictures.

Your trip is almost here! Security Wanders, you have been warned;)

My brain already left. Now, I just need to catch up with me.

We leave Saturday, which is the day I pack. I'll try to get my underwear washed Friday, which is what most of you wanted to read about. :lmao:

ZERO chance. They know it's your first stay and without kids so of course you'd get bunk beds if you were at WL or AKL. JK! I would actually have your request phrased, "King, please. First stay without kids!" There aren't many Kings at BWI, but ask again at check-in and don't forget the "First stay without kids" mantra;)

Love PACK-CRASTINATION, always makes me smile. Couldn't the girls pack for you by now?

You and pas130 have been sharing pack-crastination tips. So you don't have to go out and buy some value packs?

What are the room requests that I will have to choose from for BWV (i.e. near elevator, upper floor, etc)?
Thank you.

Here's a guy tip -- keep your old underwear with the holes in them and stuff like that, and save them for your trips, so you can pack early and still have enough of your everyday underwear for normal use. That also extends the life of your old ones, so you don't have to throw them out. And when they do finally fall completely apart, throw them out on your trips, so you have more room for souvenirs on the way back.

You're welcome! :thumbsup2

A couple of years old, but this should give you a good idea. Remember to call in any requests you'd like added to your reservation that don't appear in the OCI options. Sometimes the options don't even apply to your booking or are very limited.

Your "Guy Tips" would make a great Community Board thread - endless supply of material:)

Hi everyone! My family of 8 are staying at BWV for the 1st time September 6-11. We are booked for 2 standard rooms. Our 1st request will be connecting rooms, but is there a certain floor/room/view I should put down as a 2nd request?

Marissa - are you staying in the villas (BWV) or the Inn (BWI)? You reference BWV, but by saying "standard rooms," it sounds like you might be on the Inn side. I think it makes a difference with regard to recommendations.

We have the option of switching from the BC, standard view room, over to a standard view room at BWI. I have never stayed at BWI so I have no idea what to expect from a standard view room. At the BC, I know there's a very good chance that we're going to get a less than desirable view does the BWI have decent standard views or are there just as many not so great ones like the BC? Would appreciate feedback from those who have stayed in a standard view room at the BWI. TIA.

Sorry, I meant to write BWI standard room

Never stayed on the villa side...but as a 2nd request I would consider that some of the room can be very far from the lobby and elevators..so IF that important you might wan to list something like that ...:thumbsup2

Looks like we arrive on the same day -- no kids coming with us either. It's our 30th anniversary and we requested a king bed too.

:wizard:Happy Anniversary! F&G is such a nice time to enjoy an adult only trip!

We have had standard views a few times now at BWI....you can get a room with a view of the entrance /driveway area...not super picturesque..but not bad at all and not roof top....there is also another and very lovely garden view for standard view rooms at BWI that is anything but standard IMO....its of a courtyard area...lots of pretty trees...and very serene....I will try and find a few pics to post....On a recent trip we requested courtyard view/close to lobby or elevator...and got just that...so a pretty view...and not far from the elevators. Bellevue Lounge and the exit out onto the Boardwalk....it was very very nice!! ::yes:::lovestruc

pas ONE more day!!!!!!!!! :cheer2::cheer2::cheer2:..didn't want to miss your official DIS send off....have a great trip!!! Looking forward to pics!!! :goodvibes

Thank you.... I really want to try the BWI at least once and with the great discount, this may be the time to do it. DH doesn't care where he stays, my oldest DD also wants to try BWI so the only one I have to "work on" is my youngest DD...I see some sort of bribery tonight involving ice cream :thumbsup2.

Honestly, I don't prefer one over the other. It always comes down to price, and BW usually wins there. I've stayed BC/BCV/BWV, and will be staying BWI this trip coming up. I'd say the BC has a more laid back vibe, but that's probably because you see more people in bathing suits due to SAB being such a big part of the draw of the resort.

Honestly, I really don't own enough clothes to be that selective. Also, I am a really efficient packer and a former UPS worker from when I was in college. I had two years of practice of unloading different size packages off the airplane and load them into the shipping containers. Suitcases are no challenge.

The ones with holes, or holy underwear, are the ones I call blessed. :lmao:

You're right - an endless supply. They are only tips now, as I must defer to DW for a happy wife happy life. ::yes::
