Disney's ART OF ANIMATION RESORT Thread

This may possibly be a weird question... but I'm going to throw it out there anyways.

We're planning our first trip to WDW for next March, staying at AoA in a little mermaid room. We're planning on eating a few meals in our room to save some money in the park. I've read up about Garden Grocer and other delivery services and that seems like a viable option.

Now... I've also read that standard value rooms do not have a microwave. How do you heat anything up?? Or is it cold food for everyone? I'm just curious how other people manage this!
I don't know how realistic that is to eat a lot of meals in the room.
We eat on site, but we have breakfasts in our room or while waiting on the buses. We pack fruit, yogurt, granola bars, juice boxes, etc.
We had the meal plan last year, and later discovered it cost us more money. We plan to share meals at QS locations and see if we do better that way.

The suites at AoA have microwaves, but that might negate any savings. Some people stay off site with full kitchens, and that works for them.

You can do sandwiches in the room if that suits you. We also found that sometimes getting a pizza for $18 or $20 from the QS at AOA and eating it in our room was the best solution for our family of 5. We ate breakfast in the room each day and it worked great for us. Not roughing it, that's just what worked best for our kids.

I would call and see if they have a microwave in the Landscape of Flavors cafe. I'm pretty sure they would. You would think they would sell microwave popcorn etc. I could be wrong but it's worth calling & asking.

I looked at the maps but wanted to confirm. Do both of the bathrooms have showers or one shower and one bathtub?
Thanks in advance for the help.

The bathroom in the bedroom has a shower. The other bathroom has a tub/shower combo.

Hi everyone! We are going to AoA in May and staying in the Nemo section. I would appreciate some advice about room requests. I know I want to request top floor, but the other thing I want is to NOT be overlooking the pool. Should I request courtyard or lake view? Is there one that definitely doesn't overlook the pool? And I know these are only requests. Thanks!

I would word your request as "top floor" and "non-pool facing".

Would it be better to word it "top floor" and "lake or courtyard view" instead? I've always been told it's best to avoid negatives because often in the pressure of room tetris, the "not" or "non" is overlooked and you end up with exactly what you didn't want.

We had a similar request when we stayed in a Nemo Suite last summer. We wanted first floor, bldg. 5, not facing the pool and preferable facing the lake. I decided to use the room request fax service at touringplans.com so I could request a specific room/location. I chose a room that met our requirements and then indicated in the comment section of the fax form that while we didn't need that specific room, it would be great if we could be in that hallway. I also listed our requests in order of importance to us -- Bldg. 5, 1st floor, away from pool, preferably in the hallway with room #'s XXXX-XXXX, lake view. When I did online check-in with Disney I chose "first floor" and "close to transportation" and I did NOT choose the "having a room ready when we arrive is more important than getting our room requests" (not the exact wording - but that's the general idea). I did still indicate our arrival time as 10:30 a.m. Our room was ready by 11:45 and we got the room right next door to the specific one listed in my fax. It was perfect.

That would work too. :thumbsup2

Thanks for the advice! We're looking forward to it. We've stayed in Cars and Lion King and loved both of them.

How are the waits for the buses at this resort? It is our first time. We typically go at rope drop and sometimes return in the afternoon and come back for dinner.
