Disney's ART OF ANIMATION RESORT Thread

Hi!
6 days till WDW!! I cant wait. Were resort hopping though and wondering if anyone has any tips for AoA? Were staying 4 days with 5 people in the Cars suite. I cant remember what I requested but I think it was 4th floor lake view? Any suggestions on the rooms or fun things, food, etc??

5 days until our stay in a nemo suite!

does anyone know if we are allowed to bring pool floats? we have 1 year old twins and have this inflatable 2 person float for them? the pool is going to be miserable for us if we cant use it bc we also have a 3 year old to watch!

Can anyone tell me how long it takes to drive to each park from AoA?

Thanks!

We are traveling with our 5 year old and twins who will be 15 months old at date of travel. I hadn't thought of a 2 person float for the twins. Is it a kiddie float? I will be interested to hear how it works out with the float!

We didn't bring floats this trip as we've been told at every other Disney resort we've stayed that personal floats are not allowed. Didn't ask at AoA, but didn't see any, either.

WRT fun stuff to do, I tried to get my kids to go learn to sketch with the artist, but all they wanted to do was swim! They had to check out every pool :). I'd definitely say to check out every section, but also take a walk along the lake at night. Who knew giant bowling pins would be so pretty??

And WRT food, I thought the chicken burger was really good. I thought the tandoori chicken thighs and acorn squash were excellent. If you like Sanaa, or have wanted to try it, this is very comparable to those flavors (esp if you try all the sauces). My DD raved over the turkey sandwich ;) (had it twice) and DS over the pasta Alfredo (twice also!). I was pretty darn pleased with the food overall.

Have fun! You will love it!!

4th floor lake view is what I'm looking to request as well, but I'm undecided between Cars and Nemo section. In your Nemo room you had, did you get pool noise? My son is a very light sleeper and is in bed before 9pm, so this is always a concern for me.

No pool noise! It was a great location! I would request a 4th floor too.

THANK YOU!!! appreciate you answering what floor were you on? does it matter?

We were on floor 3, but heard nothing. Nothing above us, nothing outside. We could have just been lucky, but we were thrilled! We used the stairs on the end of the building most of the time rather than go to the middle to get to the elevator. It was faster, and really not too bad (until the last night...by then my legs were just done!).

Yes i can see that!!! Not too worried about the walk/elevators.. Until the end of the day! :thumbsup2

Another CRAZY QUESTION:  Do people decorate Windows/Doors?
we did for POR and POLY.. I haven't heard anything for AOA..

Sorry for all this. The Dis is the only information board i can find. With the exception of You tube..

I do appreciate everything//

We have ALWAYS decorated windows and/or doors. I have seen more at the Poly than anywhere else (except for the cruise ships!), but I've always seen more than one, no matter where I've stayed. You can be sure that our AoA windows/doors will be decked out. pixiedust:

Is there a good AOA site to go to? I know POR has a good one. Who has the movie listings? I have a friend going in April and I'm going in May and I'd like to have the list handy.

Good question. This will be my first stay at AoA so I'm not sure. I think I'll just plan on Command tabs & Sticky Tack (much easier to remove than tape).

People decorate their doors? Why? And with what? I'm confused.

I've seen window clings, streamers, dry erase boards, posters, pictures just about anything you can think of.

Sure, with all of the above, although if you put up a dry erase board & don't take the markers with you, you may come back to some... interesting artwork/messages. :scared1:

Why? Because it's fun! :rotfl: We usually have other guests stop to remark on the decorations or ask where they can buy them. A woman once told us she was very familiar with our door because her DD3 insisted on going to see it multiple times each day.

It's a Disney thing. I've never done it/seen it done at other hotels.

There was a time when Dis people would decorate to show the are Dis people.
Others for holidays!

Mine? For my kids birthday.

Here are some people's windows:

I have yet to encounter any specialized site for AoA, let alone anything as good as portorleans.org.

The movie listings for April will be available right on April 1, and the May list on May 1.

Here's the March lineup:
Sunday - Finding Nemo
Monday - Ratatouille
Tuesday - Robin Hood
Wednesday - A Bug's Life
Thursday - Brave
Friday - The Emperor's New Groove
Saturday - Toy Story 3

Hi all!

I am one of "those people" that likes to have control of the air conditioning.

Does this resort have the ability to override the 68degree bottom?

Is the motion control thingy a problem?

We are going in June so have others felt it was cold enough in the summer months?

I am going on a mom and me trip to poly but added one day with my orbitz points and got a good rate for a lm room. One of dd's favorite characters is Flounder so.... we are finally gonna give it a try.
