Disney's ART OF ANIMATION RESORT Thread

Hi all!

I am one of "those people" that likes to have control of the air conditioning.

Does this resort have the ability to override the 68degree bottom?

Is the motion control thingy a problem?

We are going in June so have others felt it was cold enough in the summer months?

I am going on a mom and me trip to poly but added one day with my orbitz points and got a good rate for a lm room. One of dd's favorite characters is Flounder so.... we are finally gonna give it a try.

We were in a LK suite last June and did not have any issues with the a/c. My husband kept it at 62...it felt like a refrigerator and I had to call mousekeeping for extra blankets because I was too cold at night.

Our son and his gf stayed in a LM room and they said they didn't have any issues with their a/c either and could set it lower than 68.

We are headed to AoA on Saturday:cool1: Can't wait! But I have a question about Bell Services for drivers. Do they help you unload your car and take luggage to the room or do they just give you a roll luggage cart? We are staying in an LK suite, so moving the van from the check-in area to a closer parking lot will probably be easier. What are other drivers' experience with this? TIA.

Thanks! I read in an earlier thread that they couldn't go below 68 and I was worried:(

Now how to handle no coffee maker and the buildings furthest from the food court problem:rotfl::rotfl:

I have stayed at POP many times and have watched it being built and have walked the grounds but am truly looking forward to finally staying there:lovestruc

I am so excited to have my next trip booked and finalized! I had to cancel my plans for a January trip (birthday trip for DS6 & I) because my husband was out of work. I decided to book for our usual end of August trip anyway and hope for the best on the job front. I originally booked a LM room and was going to do food on the cheap, to keep the costs and 2 days later, he got a job!! So know that we're officially a 2 income family again, I'm switched my booking to a Nemo suite and added in DxDP. This will just be DS6 and I, so I'm going to max out on character meals, since he loves them.

I could've stayed in a moderate or even the cheaper deluxes for about the same amount, but I just love the look of AoA and really want to stay there. My DS chose the Nemo theme from the pictures I showed him and he's super excited too. Thanks to this thread for information on room location, I'm going to request a 4th floor lake view in hopes of avoiding pool noise. So excited!!:cool1:

I can't imagine having air conditioning below 68 degrees. I live in Chicago, and we get some pretty warm days. My air conditioner is at 78 degrees, and that is fine for us.

I live in Florida and agree with you! Mine stays at 75, because if I set it higher the upstairs gets quite warm! But when we are at a hotel, DH (who routinely complains that its too hot in the house) takes the opportunity to crank down the AC. It is torture!

That is what our house is set at too. When we go to disney i always freeze. Now the only issue i had was no heat when we went in feb.

We just booked our stay and grip for November. Our first stay at Aof A

Hey Jen! We were chatting about Thanksgiving dinner on your thread!! Did you decide on a restaurant? What are your dates? Looks like we'll be there the same time! It will be our first stay at AoA too.

I have yet to encounter any specialized site for AoA, let alone anything as good as portorleans.org. The movie listings for April will be available right on April 1, and the May list on May 1. Here's the March lineup: Sunday - Finding Nemo Monday - Ratatouille Tuesday - Robin Hood Wednesday - A Bug's Life Thursday - Brave Friday - The Emperor's New Groove Saturday - Toy Story 3

Thank you!

Hi! Can someone please point me to a link for April Recreation Activities calendar?

ETA from above posts I'm gathering this info isn't as readily available as it is for other resorts. Sorry for being redundant here!

But!! if anyone is there in April and wants to share that'd be awesome! Thanks! :)

No decision yet on a restaurant.
I will have to double check our dates

You can take your own coffee maker and use it in your room. If you don't have room in your luggage you could just buy a cheap one at Walmart or somewhere and ship it down ahead of time and just leave it behind when you check out. Our son and his gf took a small 2-cup coffee maker with them when they stayed in a LM room.

Yeah, that would be my DH as well. If he's not paying for the electricity, he likes to drop the a/c really low. It's a constant battle when we're at Disney. I'm always turning the a/c back up to about 68-70 and he turns it back down to 62 or 63. At home (in PA) we keep it at about 68-70.

Booked all 7 days at AoA courtesy of a great Orbitz deal. So no more split stay with off site property. I'm so excited about this next trip. June 22 - 29. I have never been in June before. We have booked a LK suite. What would be my best request for close to busses.

Building 10, close to buses. :goodvibes

I need opinions because I am completely torn.

I am a HUGE fan of Pop Century. It's what I like to call my "Disney home". It's our go to resort and we've stayed there more than anywhere else.

A part of me really wants to stay at AoA this next trip to try it out and so the kids can swim in the Cars/Nemo sections.

I'd book a Little Mermaid room (which would make my daughters THRILLED) and then we can walk around/swim in the other sections (which would make my son so happy!)

The only thing I don't like is the distance the LM section is from the food court, but is it really all that bad? A part of me feels like I should just stick to Pop since it's what we know and love, but a part of me really wants to stay at AoA.

Anyone else ever feel like this? What would YOU do?

At the time of our trip, I will have a 7 year old boy, 3.5 year old daughter and 17 month old daughter.

I've not tried those resorts yet but I'm always in favor of trying something new so it doesn't feel like you are taking the same vacation over and over! You might find it's your new favorite. And if you are just not happy in A of A, maybe you can move! Good luck!

That's very true! And honestly, when I really sit and think about, a lot of the moderate/deluxe resorts have long walks, too.
