Disney's ART OF ANIMATION RESORT Thread

Yeah, I'll probably do that! Is it still Olaf on wake-up duty?

Just can't wait to stay at AOA in 25 days!!!!!!!!

We were there last week and it was Baymax... I answered it once and my dd and aunt answered the other times and said it was all Baymax.

Staying at AOA Finding Nemo Suites for the first time this April. Traveling with DD1yr, DD4yr, DW and Grandma.
Grandma is disabled so I want to be close to dining and transportation.
What room location request should I make?

I would request "close to food court" first then "ground floor". :thumbsup2

We requested high floor and lake view. We would like the nice view, and quieter room (in theory), but I am concerned the walk to transportation will be really long. From a Cars suite, is it really much longer from the farthest end of the building than from the closest? How many extra minutes are we adding there?

The distance to the closest bus stop (from the end of Building 1 closest to Animation Hall) is about 150 yards . The longest walk (from the end of building 2 closest to the lake) is about 400 yards. It might sound like a big difference, but it's really only going to take a few minutes longer to walk and at worst should be about a 5-7 minute walk. I will say that I find the Cars section to be absolutely gorgeous at night, so it will be a pretty walk if you're coming back when it's dark. :-)

We are staying at AoA soon and I have as general resort question....my parents live about a half hour away from orlando, would they be allowed to drive in and park at our resort to visit with us possibly for a meal??

Or is it best to have them meet us at Downtown Disney?? Thanks!

Yes, one can drive to AoA and tell the gate guard that you're visiting to eat at the food court. And, my opinion is AoA is much easier to get to and enter than DTD, so if that's your first choice for a meeting place, pick AoA over DTD.

We stayed in LM last week with a friend who had never been to DW before. Honestly I had forgotten just how awesome AoA is. We've stayed there on two previous trips but changed to POFQ because my husband grew tired of the walk. Oh my goodness I really loved the LM room this time. The walk didn't seem as bad as long as you plan for it ahead of time and the big blue pool was amazing for my 6 yr old son. We absolutely loved our stay this time!

Where are the elevators located in building #9? Are the ground floor rooms facing the parking lot pretty quiet at night?

Just staying one night here and actually prefer a room close to/overlooking the parking lot. Why take a better view room away from someone staying their entire visit here? Planning on eating dinner at LoF after our 9-hr drive to WDW which is why I'm looking at building #9.

We're staying in the Lion King section and I'd like to make a room request. Where can I find pictures of the icons and landscape around the LK buildings?

For example, can anyone tell me where this is located? Is this in the courtyard between buildings 6 and 10?

We just got back from a LK suite on Tuesday. They are great! The trio on the log is in front of building 6's doors which is where we stayed. But the icons are basically in between the two buildings. Rafik greets you as you walk from the food court, just behind him is Pride Rock with adult Simba, that opens onto the trio on the log and the building doors are on either side of that courtyard (though I would say closer to building 6's entrance). If you keep walking you come to the elephant graveyard, then Scar up on a rock, then Zazu on the back side of that - finishing out the section. But you will pass them all equally as you walk to either building.

What room requests would you make for a LM room at AOA? What is the difference in the lake view and landscape view? Thanks!

Building 9 is the closest to the lobby, but all of the LM buildings are a decent walk. Can't comment in the view, doesn't make a difference to us

So bummed! Decided to switch resorts for our upcoming trip the end of April beginning of May, from All Star Movies to AoA and nothing is available for our dates! I keep looking online & calling but no luck yet! I just thought the kids would enjoy AoA more! I guess there's always next time! :-/

Can you rent bed rails (the kind that keep children from falling out of bed)?

You can request them during online check-in (I think) or certainly when you check-in at the front desk. When we needed them, we would just ask for them when we checked in or called housekeeping for them when we got to the room. There is no charge for them.

What is the easiest way to get from AOA to 'Ohana and Crystal Palace for early breakfast ADRs before the parks open? We will not have a car.

TIA!

I've been reading through this thread and its very helpful. We've had some changes in the dynamic of our trip for this September and now I'm looking to change my family to a Cars Suite. There will be my husband and I, ODS turning 7yo, DD 3yo, and YDS 1yo. We were looking at splurging for a night or two at CR before heading off-site, but we think AoA for the whole trip might fit us better. It's ODS's birthday trip and he is a big Cars fan, plus we like the extra space. The only thing that I am hesitating on is, if the free dining promotion is offered this year, we would like to upgrade to the one with a Table Service per day as we were planning CRT for DD, CM's for ODS, and San Angel's for DH. I'm questioning if it's best to stay at AoA and pay to upgrade the dining plan or book a different resort. I've done the math and AoA is still the cheapest choice by far (other than Cabin but DH refuses to sleep on a double bed). I realize this scenario is hypothetical as Disney may not offer Free Dining, but just in case, any advice on the topic?
Also I still need to buy park tickets for 2 friends, can I add the park tickets when I change my room reservation?

Easiest and quickest-
'Ohana - Taxi to Poly
Crystal Palace - Taxi to Contemporary and walk over to MK

Cheapest-
'Ohana - Bus to MK then monorail or boat to Poly (the buses start rolling at 6:30AM for early ADRs)
Crystal Palace - Bus to MK
