Disney's ART OF ANIMATION RESORT Thread

How practical is it to return to AOA from the parks for naps with the intention of going back after? We have a 4 year old who pretty much needs a 2 hr. nap mid day.

We returned to AOA and took a break every day then returned to the parks. We usually didn't make it back to the room until 2-3 and tried to be back at the parks by 5-5:30. It was later than normal nap time but bedtime was later too, so it evened out!

It took about 45 minutes of travel time each way. We got about an 1-1.5 hours of actual rest time in the room. It doesn't sound like much but we all really needed the break and the quiet/cool/shade to recharge.

So I understand there's no coffee maker in the LM rooms, how long does it take to walk to the food court in the morning for coffee?

And I did hear there's apparently a breakfast cart too near the pool in the LM section? Does it have coffee? How early does that open?

I know I sound way too concerned about coffee...

I'm with you! It just dawned on me about the no coffee maker, and now I'm considering shipping myself some of those remade Starbucks refrigerated coffees just in case our room is too far to hike. Would love to know about possible coffee cart.

Salt water is so much better than chlorine. You can't even tell it's salty. It's clean is more environmentally safe compared to chlorine. And...it doesn't deteriorate your swim suits like chlorine does, or burn your eyes. The only noticeable difference for me is....you are exceptionally buoyant! You are so floaty in the water, it's really cool. Many homeowners are turning to salt water alternatives for home pools.

Does anyone know if the Art of Animation room/suites all include a mini fridge? Thanks!

Yes, all the rooms and suites have mini refrigerators. The models in the suites are different/slightly bigger than the ones in the standard rooms. The suites ones have the little freezer slot.

I don't think the breakfast cart exists anymore (unless they recently started it up again). I think it was only available the first month or so that the resort was open. I know it wasn't there when we were at the resort in June 2013 and our son and his GF stayed in a LM room.

Your walk from the LM rooms to Landscape of Flavors will vary by where your room is and how fast you walk. The farthest room from the main building would be about a 500 yard walk while the closest one is a little over 300 yards -- so somewhere between a 5-10 minute walk if you walk quickly. It's a pretty walk, though. :-)

Your other option is to bring (or ship ahead) a small coffee maker for your room (that's what my son did). Then you can just brew your own coffee in the morning. People seem to either love or hate the coffee in the resort food court, so if you're particular about what kind of coffee you drink, you might want to bring your own coffee maker. I don't drink coffee so I can't offer an opinion on that. :-D

Our LM room was in Building 9 and it took maybe ten minutes or less. But it was just two adults, no strollers or little ones. It is far enough that on the day we used the Disney bus to get to MK, we just packed up for the day, waked over and ate and then went to the bus, too far to plan to go back and forth.

It is a very nice walk as the resort is so well themed! We actually enjoyed it every morning. I did not see any carts.

We only stayed three nights so I didn't bother to take my Mini Keurig. If the trip was any longer I probably would have taken it. The coffee at Disney is very good now, I used to hate that Nescafé!

It's not all open until midnight. I think maybe the pizza station is open until midnight. The other stations close earlier (10:00ish when we were there in June). The grab-and-go area might be accessible until midnight as well, but I'm not positive. The "midnight closing" on the Disney website is a little misleading. If you get there after 10:00, your choices will be very limited.

Thanks. But I thought Art of Animation is an all-suite resort? They also have standard rooms?

Depending where you are and how fast you walk I would say at the very least 5 minutes but probably for most closer to 10 minutes.
I have heard of the cart, but I think it's only there during very busy times.
