Disney's Art of Animation Resort (Part II)

They are now selling the shower curtains from the rooms for $99.99 in the gift store. And watch the arcade for games with free credits. We were there on Monday and our kids found several free games to play.

That is an expensive shower curtain!!!

Do you know how many tokens each game costs in the arcade? I think I read that for the Magic Your Way Package you get free tokens...is that still true? :confused3

Funny that I had just seen the post here about it being a salt water pool. I just called to fix something on my reservation and the agent commented on the pool water.

It's not salt water. But it's not chlorinated. It has a salt filtration system instead of chlorine. So the water is not salty. But he said it should feel soft.

I hope that's as good at killing bacteria as chlorine. I'm sure it is or they wouldn't use it. But I was always willing to deal with the smell of chlorine to be sure pools (especially those with little kids :rolleyes1) were effectively cleaned.

I think thats the new thing. A lot of those tropical resort pools use that too! :thumbsup2

You get a voucher for some arcade credits with the packages. The machines don't use tokens but a card you swipe at the machine. I can tell you when we use the MYW voucher the credits are gone in approximately 3.2356 minutes. :goodvibes

Yay - these are called salt water pools and they are so much better than chlorine! They don't taste or feel salty - it is the filtration system that uses salt. Filters better than chlorine and doesn't have the harsh chemicals. :dance3:

It sounds like LM rooms are sold out for the most part for 2012. We'll be in a LM room from 10/14-10/20. I am wondering how full the suites will be for the non-peak times. I would hope the entire resort is not full a week in Oct. when it is supposed to (generally) not be busy. However, we'll be in the parks or at the pool anyway.

I am getting excited! 81 days! Since we have ADRs and which days we will go to what parks all set, I am looking into resort hopping for dinner in the evening (on evenings we do not plan to be in the parks).

I think the cheapest game is 20 points and they go up to 100 points. Points go quick. If you put cash in the machine you can get more points for your money. I've put in $100 before and gotten 10000 points. It's 2000 for $25 with a card.

Wow - they do that just to make it sound like you are getting a lot for your money. Why not just make games cost less points and the points cost more money? It's a lot more confusing for little children then one or two points per game. That's okay though. I don't see us spending a lot of time in the arcade when there is so much to do at Disney.

No, the Nemo pool is not a salt water pool.

Update - Apparently it does use a salt filtration system.

Then this would be the system where you add salt to the pool and the system generates chlorine...this is what I have in my pool, and it is the only system I know of where salt is involved. It is a much softer water, doesn't burn your eyes...much nicer than a pool with "regular" chlorine. Of course...there could be something new or different than what I am aware of.

Ok let's clear up the salty pool mystery. It's actually called "Salt water chlorination" it uses salt to produce the chlorine. As such, a saltwater pool is not actually chlorine-free; it simply utilizes a chlorine generator instead of direct addition of chlorine. This process has been used for many many years in pools.

We were told that they were $19.99, maybe the ones we saw were different.

Now THAT would be a very cheap (themed) shower curtain!:rotfl2:
I am guessing that if you took a shower curtain home from the room, a fee of $100 would be added to your credit card. May as well sell you a new one. MY guess is at $99, they will sell just fine. Disney is the master of merchandising.
We like the cone lamps for the man-cave. They should sell those too!
