Is there any concern about the building having been left out to the elements for so long?? I'm not in construction and have no clue, but it seems like everything being rained on and exposed to the elements isn't good. Can anyone reassure me about this?? I have allergies to mold, dust, etc. and am concerned.

Maggie
They were concrete building shells. There is absolutely no basis for health concerns.

Please make sure you post back on here to let us know. DS likes to 'camp out' with DH, so they would more than likely end up in this bed, but I really don't want DH to have a back ache from the bed like he did from the ASMu sleeper sofa.

We are booked for July, I've read everything I can find about the rooms. I believe there is both a sofa sleeper and a murphy bed, both are doubles in the main living area. There is a queen (I believe) in the bedroom.

I saw that as well. My biggest concern is whether the mattress on the murphy bed is more comfortable than the mattress on the sleeper sofa. DD and I will be in the queen bed in the bedroom, but DS and DH will have to choose between the murphy bed and the sleeper sofa. And I don't want DH to have a back ache the whole time.

Little Mermaid are standard rooms while the rest are Family Suites.

So ALL of the other buildings contain family suites besides Little Mermaid? If that's the case, that's really disappointing. I think it's a great idea for them to make mostly family suites because they are needed, but they couldn't make a handful of standard rooms per building? Bummer.

That information is correct. Only the Little Mermaid section will house standard rooms. All of the other buildings will house Family Suites.

I feel ya -- we will have a party of 7 and we were considering AoA for December. But with Mermaid rooms not opening until the 31st, we would have to get two suites. So we'll probably do a Moderate and request connecting rooms.

I love seeing the new pictures and can't wait to see Art of Animation in person - it looks so great!

Thinking of going on opening day for a week as well. Has anyone had past experience staying at Disney on a grand opening? What will it be like with only the Nemo buildings done? Do they typically do anything special? Trying to decide if we should do it. It sounds fun and scary busy, though.
Was anyone at opening day of POP, for comparison?

Booking Pop Century next summer but hoping to take a walk over to AoA to check out the courtyards up close. Where they are so close, do you think that would be a problem? Or against the "rules"?

My husband and I were originally planning on a somewhat romantic trip for two to celebrate our anniversary.. Well, plans have changed and now we are currently booked at the Art of Animation with our three kids. :rotfl2: We went ahead and booked a Lion King room. So far the pictures they have released have looked really nice. This will be our first "Value" resort and we're hoping that it will be fantastic..

A question for those of you that have stayed at Pop Century since I've read that the resorts will be neighbors.. Does anyone know the average travel time using the Disney bus transportation to all the parks and Downtown Disney? I will admit we have been spoiled and we generally stay at the Poly where the monorail was used a lot.

One more question.. Any idea if the Pop Century will be sharing a bus with the visitors from the Art of Animation?

Don't all the value's share buses? I would think in the first month or two of AoA opening they will have their own bus, since the resort is new and many guests will be staying there.

Myself, along with others have checked with the CM's and were informed that AofA will have their own bus and will not be sharing it with POP

I stayed at BLT for 10 days starting opening day. We weren't allowed to do online check in, and they opened up the check in desk at 6am for us to start checking in. There were probably 20 or so people in line. It was really odd to go to the room and be looking out the window to watch the sun rise! Everything went very smoothly.

Typically they have a cast member soft opening, so they can work out the bugs before opening to the public.

I also stayed at CR while they were building BLT. There was noise during the day, and it was pretty hard to hide the construction of a high rise. So if you are planning naps during the day, it might be a good idea to have as your room request "quiet room" so maybe they can locate you where you won't hear construction noise during the day.

My understanding is you can do anything but use the pools...

We would also like to know how long it usually takes to get to each park from a value resort on the resort buses. This will be my families first time staying at Disney and we would like to have a rough estimate of how long the value resort buses take to go to each park including the water parks. If someone could help us out that would be great. Thanks

Have any guests taken pictures of AoA from Pop or the bridge?

Not long - the time is no worse than some of the other resorts. It's about location, not price range as far as transportation time.

Google Art of Animation resort and click on images...there are plenty of such pics to be found!

No, not all the values share buses. The All-Stars will have certain timeframes when they may share buses, like mid-afternoon when hardly anyone is going back to the resorts. We have stayed at the All-Stars many times and only "shared" a bus a handful of times and it really wasn't that big of a deal. In fact, if you are staying in the Herbie or Mighty Ducks sections of All-Star movies, the All-Star Music bus stop is closer to those buildings than All-Star Movies' bus stop.

It totally depends on the resort you are staying at and the park you are going to on a particular day. The All-Star resorts are located in the Animal Kingdom area and are just a few minutes bus ride away. The Polynesian, being a Magic Kingdom resort is much father than the All-Star resorts so the bus takes longer, maybe 15 minutes. Blizzard beach is also very close to the All-Star resorts, just a couple of minutes. The best thing to do is pull up a map of WDW and look at the different resort and park locations. We generally give ourselves about 45 minutes from resort door to the gate of a park to figure out when to arrive.
