I have been looking at videos and pictures of the AOA resort. I was wondering if anyone knew why the suites look to be interior doors, while Little Mermaid quarters are outside doors? Why the difference I wonder?

Little Mermaid are standard rooms while the rest are Family Suites.

Little Mermaid section is using buildings that were originally built at the same time as Pop Century, and they were all designed as regular double-double or king rooms with exterior doors.

Here's a video, don't let it freak you out :)

The new buildings for AoA's suites were designed with interior corridors.

In regards to the discounts - have the other family suites - the all stars - been able to book free dining/other discounts?

It was mentioned perhaps AoA wouldn't host discounts/promos because they were new - any idea how long this 'new' status typically lasts? Obviously all resorts were new at some point.

Nice video of the abandoned construction site. I don't think I would have the guts to go into someplace like that, no telling what kind of vermin was lurking lol. Thanks for sharing it.

Call me dense, but does this mean that Cars section will not have standard rooms? :(

Not dense at all ..only The Little Mermaid section will have standard rooms, all the rest are family suites.

I have a LM room booked for May 2013 -, called Disney -don't want to miss out on getting one for my little girl - average was about $ 125 per night - not much of a value - but hey, it's only money.

Thanks for the reply. That is a major bummer! :(

I didn't realize you could book by phone for that far in advance. I tried to check out prices for Feb 2013 yesterday and it wouldn't go past Dec. 2012. Thanks for posting that!!

We are looking at staying at AoA the first week of June. Are the quick service restaurants going to be open? Will the feature pool in Finding Nemo be open?

Looking to book today, but have some hesitation as it will only be opening two days before.

TIA

AOA has not been excluded from all discounts. Many DISers were able to use the bounce back offer last summer/fall for this summer.

I've received several pin codes that could be used there as well. So far the codes, have been for the time we're going.:confused3:rotfl2::rotfl:

Thanks, that's good to know

This is all great information! We are planning to book soon for November 2012, and weren't sure if we wanted to stay at AoA or in 2 rooms at POP. After seeing the pics and videos, we are pretty certain we'll choose AoA. Looking forward to seeing updated pics and videos!

Little Mermaid rooms might open sooner than expected? We're planning to arrive 12/29 and would love to stay there. I know that no one knows for sure of course, just wondering if anyone has ever heard of it happening before (resorts opening sooner than expected)...

Were planning to stay at AoA the last week of September, I think I will book in the next couple of weeks. I'm really hoping that free dining will be available for us. *fingers crossed*

oh man I'm SO tempted! I'm not a value resort fan because of the noise /distance but UGH its SO much cheaper for our family of 6! I SO wish they would release free dining through december 1st again!

The All-Star Music Family suites were blocked out for free dining and other discounts for the first year they were open. After that first year, they were available for free dining discounts. In fact, I believe they are the only "suites" that are ever included in free dining offers.

We would really like to stay at AOA for our November/December trip, but, realistically, I don't think they will offer a free dining discount for this year - I dont' think they will need to. We will most likely get 2 connecting rooms at Pop or All-Star Music again and try AOA next year. But, if we they do offer free dining for AOA will be definitely be there.

We have 5 kids and we have stayed at all different levels of resort at Disney, but the last few years we have mostly been staying at All-Star Movies and Pop Century with connecting rooms and we have throughly those resorts. The kids actually prefer the value resorts. We still love the Polynesian and Port Orleans, but as the kids have gotten older they want to spend all of our time in the parks, so we just dont' spend hardly any time in the resort anymore - basically just showering and sleeping, so I guess that's why I don't want to spend the extra money on the moderate or deluxes anymore. But, I think the Polynesian will always be my favorite resort . . . :-)

Hello,

Am I understanding correctly that if Free Dining (fingers crossed) comes out for next summer, that A of A might be excluded b/c it is a new resort?

Any thoughts? :surfweb:

Thanks!!

:hippie:

I'm not so sure that they will exclude AOA since there is over 1000 family suites to fill. Hoping for free dining for Jan. 2013. If AOA is excluded, then staying at POR for sure.

That's the speculation right now because most new resorts have been blocked out for certain discounts in the past and the All-Star Music Family suites, which are almost the same things as the AOA suites, were definitely blocked out for free dining the first year that they were open. I believe the All-Star Family suites opened at the end of 2006, they were blacked out of the 2007 free dining dates, but were included in the 2008 free dining dates and all free dining dates after that.

Since they will have many, many more suites to fill at AOA, I hope they will will get the 2012 free dining offers, but I'm not getting my hopes up . . . .

Disney Parks Blog has some of the menu items posted for Art of Animation's "Landscape of Flavors" food court:

http://disneyparks.disney.go.com/bl...art-of-animation-resort-at-walt-disney-world/

•The Soup-Salad-Sandwich Shop lets you create your own salad (with beef or chicken) and offers a caprese sandwich with fresh mozzarella and tomatoes on focaccia, or a Buffalo-style turkey sandwich with arugula and a blue cheese-Buffalo sauce-mayo spread. Both are served with delish house-made potato chips.

•The World Flavors Shop adds Indian-African flair to breakfast, too, with scrambled eggs, tandoor potatoes, Portuguese sausage, slab bacon and a mini-naan; or a veggie flatbread sandwich on naan with cauliflower, spinach and paneer. Lunch and dinner is a choice of tandoori chicken or shrimp, Mongolian beef with vegetables, mahi mahi, Portuguese sausage or roasted acorn squash served with sides and naan bread.

•The Pizza Shop features make-your-own pasta, cheese and pepperoni pizzas and meatballs on ciabatta bread. Room delivery is an option, too.

•The Burger Shop includes a breakfast burger with chicken breakfast sausage, cheese and scrambled eggs on a multi-grain bun, and a steak-and-eggs breakfast burger with a burger topped with fried eggs, cheese and bacon. Besides the traditional burgers, lunch and dinner includes a surf and turf burger with crab cake and fried popcorn shrimp, and a pastrami cheeseburger topped with pepper jack cheese and a slice of fried green tomato.

•The “grab ‘n go” Market Shop offers drinks, yogurt, bagels, pastries, gourmet cupcakes, cookies and gelato.
