So does anyone know waht the family suites cataogry is> I thought thats what most were, except little mermaid.

When we stayed at AKL, a standard room only slept 4. BC, GF, Poly and CR had 5 in a standard room, but AKL and WL did not. Has that changed?

My daughters were at PC last week, and said the mermaid section across the lake was still untouched from the year before, the new buildings were up but open at parts so you could see through them. I had them send me a photo, but it is a far-off shot, and small. The main building had some colors on it, a rainbow of sorts, in diamond shapes?

No, it hasn't. Only POR and the more expensive deluxes sleep five; the other mods and the two cheaper deluxes sleep four. What puzzles me isn't the rate in relation to standard rooms, regardless of occupancy, but rather the rates relative to the cabins and the ASMu suites. The pricing is much closer tob that of the cabins, which is an MK area resort with moderate amenities, and I wonder if as the construction progresses we'll see AoA have some amenities that the other values don't (like a pool slide or expanded water play area).

It looks like each section will be a bookable category. For the dates I looked at in Sept there were options for Finding Nemo suites and for Cars suites, as well as a generic "family suite" category (that wasn't any cheaper, so if you have a preference you may as well just pick that section). Lion King wasn't listed, nor were the standard rooms which as I understand it make up all of the Little Mermaid section.

Lion king is open for October booking dates.

And yes the generic is you get what ever they give you.

I was surprised it wasn't slightly cheaper as an incentive, since many people will likely have a strong enough preference to pay a little more to get their top choice. It being its own category will work out well for discount purposes, and that's probably the reason behind it... I'll bet there will be a lot more no-section-specified suites available for promotional rates than there will be section-specific rooms.

I would hope there would be some moderate amenities. At this point, I would book a cabin for that rate or possibly a little cheaper.

Yea, I can see if they were cheaper, but for the same price, there is no way I would go with it.

From what I've seen it looks like the suites have interior corridors, but the Little Mermaid section with regular rooms will not.

I don't know I can only find art work on it. I even went to a TA to see if they were given anymore info and she did not even know they were booking rooms . So that back fired on me

Has anyone had any luck booking just a standard room instead of any of the suites yet? I would like to stay at this new hotel but don't need a suite.

I've stayed at the CBR in 1989 as it was being built in stages. They were building the Aruba section while we were there and there was nothing beyond the main pool (no North section). Boy did that resort grow since I stayed there when it openned! And to think I paid rack rate for May 1989 and paid $69 a night!!!

It's not usual for a resort to open in stages at all. Also, I might want to point out that it's not usual for there to be NO discounts at a new resort when it opens too. So while some have their hopes up, they better have a backup plan. I've seen resorts excluded from promotions many times. They know the new one will be popular, so no need to offer many discounts. Even though I'm a DVC member, I would like to try out the shiney and new resort. I'm actually a fan of POP myself and often will stay on my arrival night.

From what I understand the room that are non suite rooms will not open until Dec 2012. They are not booking them yet. I would just keep checking if the dates work for you. If not you could always book at Pop and walk over and check out AOA for your next trip.

I've quoted POR for my family and AoA suites for Sept 2012. There is a big enough difference for me to just stay at POR. I'm sad about it, I would love to stay in a shiny, new resort, but I've never stayed at POR either and I hear that resort is beautiful. I will have a total of 6 (my son will only be 1 though so we are still allowed to stay at POR). I know that AoA will probably have more room, but we rarely are at the hotel and for that price difference we will be staying Moderate. Also, with the way that FD is being offered this year, you only get FD with Moderate or Deluxe resort (I would upgrade to the TS meals if I stayed Value). If they offered the same thing next year, it would just make sense to book moderate for a cheaper price. Oh well!

I am looking forward to hearing reviews and seeing pictures of the new resort though
