Disney's Art of Animation Resort hotel

Okay, I have a truly crazy question. I will be training for a half marathon while we are in Disney. I don't plan on doing any super long runs while we are there, but I would like to squeeze in a couple. Running is relaxing for me so I actually enjoy running on vacation. Anywhoo...the Disney website says that there is a "jogging trail" on the property. I can't really tell where it is by looking at the aerial pics. Anyone have any guesses? :) Also, is there a running trail at POP? I bet I could run the AOA trail and then run over to POP and do their trail also, if they open up the bridge. Yes, I do realize that being excited about this makes me a little looney! :)

Thats not looney at all! You're healthy, its good for you, be proud! :thumbsup2

(sorry I can't answer your question though...!)

There's not a trail specific for running at either resort, but the pathways around the resort (both Pop and AoA when complete) are well-suited for running, especially the parts that front what is currently called Hourglass Lake.

And yes, when/if the bridge opens a run on both sides would be a really good idea.

I would guess 10 maybe 15 minutes tops to walk from LM section across the bridge to Everything Pop. It's not going to be as far as it may appear.

AoA has its own bus stop so you can expect it will have dedicated buses during busy periods. During slower parts of a day they may decide to combine routes. We'll see.

Thank you. 10-15 minutes is not bad at all.

I bit the bullet and booked our vacation this morning. We are at AoA in LM from Dec 8th -15th. The kids are going to be so excited. I already am

Good to know! Thanks! So I won't be running into people just running on the regular pathways?

I called today and was able to get all four of our rooms switched to Free Dining at LM for September 15-22! I wonder why it wouldn't work for you?
It does seem to be the 15th check in that's key. Too bad we're one day late! Heartbreak!

Its your check in date. If you could arrive sooner on the 15th those dates would be open. Because of whatever glitch they are having they are the only dates that have shown up as available.
Yeah, I've been following this thread and knew it wasn't likely that I would get in with my check in being the 16th. Too bad we already booked our flights or else we would change dates in a second! But $300 to change our flights is just too much.

In between buildings, yes, you will run into people. :goodvibes

I took another look at the aerial views and I think you will be able to run all the way around Hourglass Lake once the AoA walkways are complete. That path will be runners and walkers vs. people heading to rooms. This is likely what is being advertised as the running trail.

The dates should come available. It is just a glitch. Same thing happened with POR last month. Keep checking. I check about 10 times a day. LOL

Ooh really? Excellent.
I booked through a travel agent (seeing that was a mistake now!) so she has to check for me. :sad2: It's a bit of a hassle but I'm going to be on her back until I either get into AoA or leave on a plane for Pop Century!

Just keep checking the Free Dining offer on Disney's website. If you see it available for your dates then your TA should be able to get it for you. That's when I'd call and have them check it for you.

I have been booked with free dining since October of 2011 for our upcoming 2012 trip. I have changed our dates and resort several times. Yesterday I was finally able to book AOA. Couldn't use my pin but was able to use the general public free dining discount. So now I am going a month earlier (sept instead of october). And I was even able to get ressie at all my dining choices. Yippie. :cool1:

Just booked this morning for a Little Mermaid room and deluxe dining for November 11-16 for our dds 5th birthday! I am so excited! Now I just have to wait and see what kind of passholder discounts come out and hope they are decent!

I was all booked for AoA during free dining in August and I was told that they are excluding AoA for that promotion. Has anyone booked the free dining for the last week of August there and gotten free dining? I changed to another resort instead of going to AoA. Anyone??? :confused3

all dates are coming up now for free dining at aoa in the little mermaid rooms.

Ack!! Really?? On the phone with my TA! Hope she can find me something!
*Eta -- never should have booked through a Ta. I can't call Disney myself, my TA is on vacation and the others in the office are unwilling to help me. I'm going to have to try in the morning.
