We are staying for 3 days July 4-6 at A of A. We are so excited and my DS is majorly excited about staying in Nemo Suite.:cool1:

My husband and I are staying off property for a short trip next week- 15th wedding anniversary (marriott hotel was gifted by the in-laws), but we are planning a surprise trip for our girls, 6 and 8 for October and booked 2 Little Mermaid rooms so my parents can go with us. I am excited to go next week and check out as much of the resort as I can and take pictures, and do some planning for October. We are going to head over to the Downtown and stock up on surprises and fun disney things put in the room for when we bring the girls. Grandma and pop pop can stall the girls in the gift shop or pool area while my husband and I put out all the presents, complete with a letter from Ariel welcoming them to her hotel! I can't wait to go... both times!

We will be there at the same time in a Little Mermaid room. My sister and I are planning a surprise "girl's only" trip for our daughters. We can't wait!:banana::banana:

HI,
I am excited about this resort, However I have some questions for those of you that have either stayed here or the other family suites. There will be 4 adults of us traveling to Disney and although I thinks kids are okay I do have issues with them not be well behaving having serious meltdowns or running up and down the hallaways without parental control ( i dont mean to be offensive, its just a personal opinion. I would rather be able to have fun with the kids and give the back to their parents after I get them on a sugar high LOL) Well the family suite and this resort be over run with small children due to the themeing. Thanks for your help , and once again I dont mean to be offensive regarding children.

It's hard to say. I would hope people have the common decency to have their children behave properly in the hallways etc, but like a pp said, some people teach their kids respect, some don't.
In all honestly though, the WORST child screamathon I have ever heard at Disney was in the lobby of AKL and went on for what felt like eternity while the parent barked idle threats, we heard it from our room on the 5th floor! So you aren't safe from it anywhere:confused3

It's pretty heavily themed for kids, so I am going in expecting more kids than some resorts though. Hopefully Disney has thought of noise issues when building and used adequate soundproofing. I'm really not too worried about it but it might not be the atmosphere you are looking for on an adults only trip.

Thanks for all your help and information! I am hoping for some pixie dusty to be able to upgrade to either a moderate or deluxe but fir now you can't beat the price of this new resort

We switched from POR to AOA! I did the CM preview tour last week and fell in love with it and convinced my parents to switch! They are staying for 5 nights so hopefully they enjoy it but I'm sure they will!!! At 60% off, I couldn't pass it up for them and I!!!

I would think that this resort will have more children than most just because of the suites. And I think that most of them the parent's will be outnumbered by the children. So I would expect there to be many meltdowns at this site. Remember though it is the happiest place on earth!:woohoo:

You may find that at any resort, but at Disney all resorts are gonna have kids...and some people may be able to afford higher priced places, but may not know how to take care of kids.

It is a pretty safe bet you will see a lot of families . We expect our children to take there manners with them anywhere they go. Some adults can be loud and rude also I think it just depends on what they think it acceptable . At our home inside voices are used inside please thank you excuses me and your welcome are a everyday thing from adults and children . If kids where really not for me I would look into some place other than a value.

so true, some adults are worse than kids...

Sorry if this has been addressed...I read through a bunch of posts but didn't see any discussion about it.

Has anyone been able to score a discount for AoA yet? Maybe an AP rate or a FL resident rate or do the recent discounts not apply to AoA since it's a new resort?

We are going in Decemeber and would love to stay in one of the standard rooms. The rates really aren't bad, but if I might be able to get a discount, I can hold out a little longer.

Thanks!

We got the AAA rate if that matters. :goodvibes

For anyone going soon - would love a report back on what time the pool is open till - whether it's gated closed when lifeguards go off duty, or like most resorts, is still open.

Also curious what time food court and pool bar open till at night!

Since the entire resort is like one big giant playground I would expect there to be more kids and be loud. While I would like to spend a day or two there I do believe being just two adults such as DH and myself to book a longer stay and expect any thing other would be unrealistic.

thanks for the links!!!
Get to PICK your ride time??? that means a lot more planning... I don't like that..
change is change.

I hope that all of you that are going to be there for the Grand Opening have a wonderful stay!!:)
I'm really looking forward to your updates!

some of the first people checking in . That will be my family in 120 days I can't wait !!

Yay!! Actual people! So exciting:)

On a side note, does the check in area seem really dark to anyone else? Reminds me of a night club rather than a hotel. I guess it's hard to tell from the pictures though.. it might be brighter when you are actually there.

I have thought the same thing!!
