Just watched AKL feature on Travel Channel. WOW!!! It got me so excited for our first trip to AKL in 13 short days!! If only, we could afford the 2 br suite they featured. LOL! I taped it to show my DS's. It will definitely get them excited too.

Hi! I just changed our reservations for April first three nights at Pop then 2 nights AKL savannah view I am so excited! This will be a surprise for my two dd's! They both love animals and love different cultures (I work hard at educating them). I hear there are lots of opportunities to learn about the Animals and Africa!! I really would love to do the safari but I couldn't swing concierge this trip. Any chance of that kind of upgrade?

...I would tend to think NOT, but I am certainly no expert! However, I'm kinda hoping for an upgrade myself. We won't be arriving at AKL until LATE (about 11PM, if we're lucky!) and checking in at that time, only to RE-check in at concierge the following morning! I'm hoping for an upgrade [insert Pixie Dust HERE] or a reduced rate, since we won't actually be using their concierge services for that Sunday....

Hello, for the last 3 months me and DH (DD4 and DD2) have been planning on staying at POR for 4 nights March DH just called me at work and said he wants to stay at AKL (I guess me whispering in his ear while he is sleeping has paid off

So, after months of research for POR, now I only have 23 days to gather all I can on AKL.

I am begging for suggestions, or just just reassure me that we did the right thing.

Kim - I really think I would cancel or at least move your trip. Sorry - but bypass surgery is not something that she will get over that soon.

I am going to AKL in July (got a postcard) and that will be our first stay here - I have eaten at Boma's several time and seem the animals....

My MIL's surgery ended about 20 minutes ago. The dr successfully replaced 3 out of 4 blocked arteries, but the next 24-48 hours are crucial. She will be sedated until 6PM - NO VISITORS until at least 7PM. I am going to wait another day before I contact AKL, when I am thinking a little bit more clearly....thanks for all your prayers and well-wishes!

What sort of requests should I note when I make a reservation for a standard room at the AKL? I'm trying to avoid those awful rooms fronting the walkway to the bus stop. Have my fingers crossed for AP codes and want to be ready when (if) they come out.

...AKL concierge today - he is going to have a GOH badge put in the room for my DS, Dylan, for when we arrive tomorrow! He also said that the weather for the week is LOOKIN' GO-O-O-O-O-OD!! Just ONE DAY and I'm outta here!

Hi Jennifer, I was checking the board and noticed you did not received an answer to your question.

I have not stayed in a standard room at AKL, however I would call and ask them if you could please have a room away from the front walkway and bus stop. Depending on when you are going, I am sure that the person in charge of room assignments would try. I have heard of many people paying for a standard room and being upgraded to pool or savannah view.

Does anyone else have any ideas?

Hi!

It's been a while since I've visited here! We LOVE AKL! 2 years ago we went to WDW over July 4th and stayed at AKL with great AP rates. We had a standard room and were upgraded to a pool view room. The overlooks to the savanahs were close by so we could see the view outside whenever we wanted. It was beautiful! Just beautiful!

I've got a couple of questions about the AKL....everything I read looks good! I'm looking into the possibility of a one-night stay, at the end of our Spring Break trip. No parks will be involved, just looking for a day to hang out and rest before we drive home (a vacation from the vacation, if you will....LOL)

What kinds of activities are available for kids? I have a 3 & 9 year old, and when we aren't in the pool, I'd love to find something fun to do at the resort! Is the slide "cool'?
