I keep bumping into people that are going to WDW. It's amazing how many people are going in the next couple of weeks!

Nitey nite!

....it's almost tike for you to go!! In case I don't get the chance, hope you and your family HAVE A WONDERFUL, SAFE VACA!!! :wave2:

....we are thinking of letting our DS take a friend with us to WDW. If he DOES come with us, can a rollaway bed be ordered at an extra charge, or will I have to bump up to a deluxe queen/bunk room??

Also: I wanted to do concierge for one night, so we can book the Sunrise Safari. How far in advance can we sign up for that??

You can sign up 90 days in advance. You will have to have your concierge room booked before. I would talk to Disney, as AKL only does their safari's on certain days. We went on the sunrise safari on a Sunday morning and the Sunset on the next Saturday night. They are super fantanstic and not to be missed IMHO.

DH and myself are returning to AKL next year after Thanksgiving and we are taking another couple who are very dear friends. We will be repeating both safari's.

Wishing all of you that leave soon a wonderful trip. Say hello to the baby Ankole from me

Last day of work tomorrow for me, DS, and last day of school for younger DS. DH took tomorrow off! But I have to pack tomorrow night, and so much to do. I'll try to say hello, goodbye before I leave!

...answer this???!?!

HughJackman'n'me: You can have four people in the regular rooms. As soon as you move to five, at AKL, you need to be in a deluxe room, which come with bunk beds (and sometimes a day bed as well).

Sorry, but I'm pretty sure there's no way around that.

I'm sure this has been asked many times, but we're staying at AKL (for the first time!) in a Std. Savannah Room in Feb. Which savannah/trail should I request? TIA!!

mariamouse :hyper:

:) There are many answers to your question. So I will tell you where we stayed. We were on the Arusha Savannah, Kudu Trail. We were very happy with our view. We were on the 5th floor, which is what we had requested. In fact we were so happy with our King room we will be requesting the same room on our return. There are many beautiful views and I don't think you would have a bad view from any savannah room. When we took the Sunset Safari they told us that they will be doing a lot of breeding in the next year and all the new moms and babys will be on the Sunset Savannah. Also, the sunset savannah seem to have a lot of sleeping animals up close to the building which we saw from one of the many windows as we walked to our room. So that may be a great location too.

If you have any more questions I will be happy to help. ::yes::

Well my friends, I'm off in just a few short hours now. I can't believe it's really here. Had to unpack my new "carry-on" which turned out not to fit most of my clothes! So my bright idea of carrying on everything turned in to checking a lot! Oh well................I don't even care at this point, I'm just glad to be done packing! I'll let you all know if I got my room request, and how it all was when I get back! See Ya!!!:wave2:

Angel 16-- thanks for the info. I have heard a lot of good things about the Zebra trail overlooking the Arusha Savanna.. why is this spot so popular? I would love to have a room close to the lobby.

Tig-girl-- I hope you have a wonderful trip!!

Mariamouse, from what I understand, the Zebra Trail is the only one from which you can see the zebras. They can be aggressive, so they keep them separate from some of the other animals. Also, the Zebra Trail places you closer to the pool, and to Mara than the other side of the Arusha Trail.

Some people, however, much prefer to be out near the end of the Kudo Trail, which gives them a greater sense of being "out there" on the savannah.

We'll be there in a few short weeks, and I'll definitely report back about our room and how and why we liked it.

Tig-girl, I can't believe you're already on your way! It's so encouraging, because all this time I've been thinking, "oh, she's right before us..." so now we're close, right?

Counting the hours now, almost, instead of the days...it can't get here soon enough for me! I hope you have an absolutely fabulous time.

Love,

Kris

Zebra Trail is good b/c it is the same side of the resort as the food court, Mara, and the restaurants, pool, etc. However, Kudu Trail and Zebra Trail BOTH have room which overlook the ARUSHA Savanna which is the savanna that has zebras. I need to post a link to a map of the resort so you can all see what I'm talking about...
Some rooms on Kudu overlook the Sunset Savanna and some rooms on Zebra Trail overlook the Uzima Savanna. I know it must sound confusing...

...please do, cuz' I'm getting a little confused myself..... (I wanna call CRO with MY request and I don't know which area to request, either!)

edit: Oooops, never mind:rolleyes: !

Question: If we got a room in the Giraffe Trail area, would the 'inside' (facing the pool) rooms still be considered std rooms? Also, if we got a room on the top floor (would that be the 4th floor?) in that section, could we possibly see any animals from there??

Just back from AKL on 11/6! Fantastic!! We were in room 5418 over looking the pool. BOMA was absolutely wonderful. Bus service excellent. The resort is very large but once you get your bearings we had no issues. As a matter of fact my son will not ride elevators so we walked the stairs every day (good for working off all the fries!). Housekeeping was excellent as well.

Any questions? I should be back on line later today or tomorrow so I would be happy to give any info.

I think we were on the zebra trail. It really was a wonderful pool view. The room was a deluxe but I don't know how much bigger it was than a standard. It was just enough room for the four of us.

...the dlx rooms are slightly larger, because it accomodates 5 people, having the daybed in it....:D .
