....they have std rooms booked....I agree with Giraffe Trail but they may not get a pool view...:confused3

Perhaps not, I guess I can request Giraffe Trail and just hope for the best! I've been quite lucky with room requests/upgrades in the past but I guess if we end up looking at a parking lot then not the worst thing ever. :thumbsup2

Thanks, will look into this, just booked standard view but I guess I can request Giraffe Trail anyway!

Try looking here...http://allears.net/acc/aklmap.jpg It'll show you everything.

Also just an fyi. The elevators and stairwell between the 2 bldg pods on the right/ giraffe trail will bring you down to the pool, as well as a short cut to the bus stops too. This saves a heck of a lot of walking if you're on the giraffe trail.:thumbsup2

....yes, I agree....that elevator is very convenient. :thumbsup2

....as for Giraffe Trail, it is one of the shorter hallways. As you are walking away from the lobby, the rooms to the right are standard rooms and the ones to the left are the pool-view rooms...

....have you had a chance to read the rest of my TR? :confused3

Not yet. And also not all the rooms standard facing the parking lot. We actually had a value room and where we were we could see you guys across the pool.

Excellent, thank you all! Member of our party isn't disabled to the degree where they cannot walk and doesn't need a room with special provisions etc but we did rent a wheelchair in parks on our last trip because obviously Disney involves a lot of walking. I just don't want her to be tired after a day at the parks and for that walk back to the room to be difficult, if it can be easily avoided with a sensible choice of room location if granted.

She does have a disabled parking badge here in the UK (blue badge) but we're not renting a car so don't have any issues with that and having to get one that's suitable for use in the US.

....you had a standard DVC room, not a regular resort room....

Hi, everyone! And Happy New Year's Eve!

My family just switched from POFQ to AKL for our upcoming Easter trip. With the spring discount released, I was able to justify moving us to a Pool View room @ AKL. This will be our 1st stay there & we are very excited! :cool1:

I do have a few questions for all the experts here:

1. It looks like the pool view rooms are all in either the Giraffe Trail or the Zebra Trail. If this is correct, can you put in a request for a certain section when you do online check-in?

2. Which of those 2 sections would be best? Being close to bus transportation is not a big deal to us as we prefer to drive ourselves to the park. We do plan on grabbing breakfast in the Mara before heading to the parks. I just wasn't sure if the Giraffe Trail rooms are a long walk away from it or not. Or if one certain trail had better views of the pool.

Thank you for your advice! :goodvibes

....well then, you'd be better suited in Zebra Trail then. The elevator after the first 'pod' goes directly down to the first floor. When you exit the elevator and make a right and another right to the outside doors, just beyond those is The Mara - very convenient!

Finished reading... Nice report.

BTW, I'm hoping to be in Brandi's list soon.....Will know for sure in mid to late Jan.:surfweb:

That's what I was thinking....thank you for confirming! :thumbsup2

And can I make that request when I do online check-in or will I need to call in for that request?

Nope I actually had a Value, which is a lower point total DVC room.

This years room in Kidani was noticeably larger....

....but it's still designated as a 'DVC room'......your room would never be booked with a person/party that is booking a 'regular' resort room....

Aghhh. Good point.....I'm in the mindset now that everything is DVC. Didn't even realize she was talkin about reg. rooms.

And yes.....The elevators are indeed faster than walking....Wow your are smart...you must be a teacher or sum thin:banana:

....yes....or sum-thin...

BTW ~ I've update my TR and this particular update includes Jiko, along with some [if I do say so myself! ;) ] pretty awesome pix.....:thumbsup2

Not really AKL news, but I just read the HS hat is being torn down 1/6-7... I knew it was leaving but hoped we could see it one last time...we are just going to miss it! I know it didn't really fit where it was but we liked it, and the pin shop.
