Resort Thread Disney's ALL-STAR MOVIES Resort

Thanks to those who put this thread together. We are in the process of planning our next trip and we are planning to stay at a value resort. The only value we've done before is Pop so I kinda wanted to try something different. I think we will definitely stay at ASMo!! Here is my question- on our last trip we were at CBR in a pirate room and it was SO far from the food court and main pool (like over 15 minute walk with a stroller and a poky walking four year old). Is this resort smaller or do we need to do a preferred room? We were literally in the farthest building at CBR but it kind of turned me off of that resort.

My preference is always preferred room because I hate being so far out...but that being said...I am sucking it up and going standard and staying at AoA next Nov. Only because it is new. I would say you will have a 5-10 minute walk in the furthest out spots at ASMo.

If you are worried get the preferred room. But IMO the walk wasn't bad. Not anything close to 15 minutes. It has been awhile since we stayed there but we were in the mighty ducks section.

For those that have stayed at ASMo before... So when we booked with our FD pin, the only thing left was preferred. The other two times I stayed was at Pop and NOT preferred. The first time it was just before they started making some rooms preferred. Anyway, since my entire family (especially some of my sons) love Toy Story, I put a request in for that. However, after checking out the map, it seems the Toy Story is closest to Cinema Hall, the playground and buses. My second choice would have been Dalmations because it seems to be centrally located....pool, laundry (yes, still have to do that on vacay..lol), Cinema Hall. After talking to DH about this, we still decided we hope to get Toy Story because of the close proximity to buses. We may visit the pool a time or two, but since we will be trying to load/unload five kiddos on and off buses, this would make the most sense. Especially at the end of the day when they are half asleep and dragging their feet. We have some big boys...tanks...they were an armful to drag back to the room last time (and they were much younger and lighter then).

Opinions??

I would say Fantasia is the closest. I stayed there, not poolside, but on the other side and it was pretty close. I think Pop preferred rooms are closer to the main building though

so just to confirm, there are NOT coffee pots in the rooms?
Thanks

correct

When we check in, assuming our room is not ready yet (our plane lands at noon), is there a place to leave our carry-on bag so we can head out to the parks? We've done this in the past when staying at Deluxe resorts...will we be able to at ASMo?

yes

Does anyone know if the ASMo resort has head phones and/or a head phone jack on their TV's? Also, are the TV's flat screens or older models? TIA!

When we stayed at the Poly, there was sort of a power strip on the desk so multiple items could be plugged in at once. Does ASMo have the same thing? Between the cell phones, cameras, iPods, etc. we need mulitple accessible outlets to recharge at night!

It's been a couple of years since I've stayed at an All Star resort but they did NOT have a power strip available then. We brought our own. Sure would be nice though.

Thanks, I'll be sure to pack one so I can charge everything at once before going to bed each night.

We just got back a few days ago, and I forgot to ask while there and I've seen no mention of it, but it looked as though Mickey in the Fantasia pool was being refurbed. My son had been really looking forward to seeing Mickey in the pool (but staying in the Toy Story section and getting to play in Andy's room every day kind of cheered him up a bit :)

When I was there last week, I noticed that there is one behind the unit on the floor, but the TV & fridge were plugged into it. I only noticed it when I checked to make sure that no toys/souvenirs ended up behind there since there is a small gap between the wall and the unit :)

That's unusual for any resort. We bring our own. I use Owner's Locker, but even with out OL; a power strip doesn't take up much space/weight.

I am staying at Movies next month. I am staying in a standard room. Would I be guaranteed to stay in a certain section like Love Bug or could I end up in any building?

I am not worried about walking to the main building just wondering how close I will be to the pool.

Thanks

You'll be in Love Bug or Mighty Ducks.
