Resort Thread Disney's ALL-STAR MOVIES Resort

Going down with 2.75 yr old and a 1.5 yr old...I will prob request one PnP and assume my older one will sleep with me and my DH...My parents are coming down for half of our week trip...so i feel it doesn't make any sense to get another room for just a couple of nights...Do you think we will be over crowded at ASMo? (4 adults and 2 DCs under 3 yrs old)

You won't be allowed to have 6 in the room, even with 2 infants. I think children over 2 are considered a person in the room (just no need for park tickets) It will be very cramp as well. The beds are only double, so it's hard for just 2 dults to sleep in 1. You definatley will need to get another room for your parents.

Does anybody know if there are usually larger crowds here at the end of September? I am thinking we will be going back to DW Sept of 2011.. we've only ever been in Dec.
Also, pp mentioned a shuttle launch. What are the chances in figuring out (closer to the time obviously) if there will be any launches.
ALso, question about rental cars. If we wanted to rent a car for a day or 2, how would we go about doing this? I've never rented a car before, whats our best and cheapest bet?

Just switched from POR, needed to add another room to our reservation, and this was available. Haven't stayed here in years. Help me get excited. We are in the preferred section, hopefully connecting or adjoining rooms. Tell me what you love about the resort. We will have a car, and plan 2 days in the parks.

We have stayed here the 2 times we have gone to DW, so I can't compare it to anything else. Although I have searched high and low for a resort that tickles our fancy. Of course the monorail would be pleasing, but for the price and the theming (we have 2 young children) is beautiful. We have done preferred in the Toy Story section which was great, but it seems to me there are closer preferred sections to the main hall. This last Dec we stayed in the Herbie Love Bug section. I loved the section, but for us it was just too far to add to the walking we had done in the parks. So definitely stick with preferred.
The fantasia pool is fun, we would hold our kids and bring them into the water fountain. Herbie has a spray play area. It is nice to walk around as well, but I don't really have another resort to compare it to. we've been to the Grand Floridian for a meal and the Contemporary. This is a value resort, but we love it here. It's our home. :) can't wait to go back!

Thank you for your reply. It will be nice to have the extra room, two bathrooms and TV's. I look forward to seeing all the themed areas.

Yes the extra room will be great! We had adjoining rooms with my mom and sister in Dec. It was great! lock it up at night, open it up in the morning. It allowed the kids to run in and out too.

I'm not sure of the ages of your children, but mine just love to look for lizards, in Dec they also found a frog. Out of all the things in Disney, they have fond memories of the frog. Or toad, whatever it was. lol

Also, the food there is good!! I love the adult chicken nuggets/fingers. Yum!!

Is there a map posted anywhere in this thread? We have stayed at Pop Twice but my DH wanted to try someplace new so we are staying at ASMo. We are currently booked ina preferred room but I am not sure I want that since I ahve no idea what the layout is. We will ahve a small baby and toddler so I do not want to be in a super busy section.

Thanks in advance for any input!

Jackie

Hi Jackie! We have never stayed in Pop, but your kids are going to LOVE ASmo!!! We have been there twice, the only resort we have stayed at. Our kids are 4 and 5, they LOVE it. It is VERY Disney.

Here is a link to a map

So you would get either Toy Story, Fantasia, or 101 Dalmations. We have stayed in Toy Story and Herbie love Bug (standard). Herbie just was too far. After all the park walking. It was a nice and quiet area, water play area, but just too far. Toy Story was awesome, our kids LOVE Toy Story. It was our first big trip as a family and DW vacation, very special to us. Honestly, I would say go there with the kids. The park is about half way between the main hall and the section. It's relatively close. We did have a ground floor room (which I would really suggest since you have a really little one, you can just wheel right into the room) and we were facing Buzz. We were right in the midst of the center basically and in the morning we could hear the kids outside playing around. So if you really want quiet, ask for maybe a room facing out and not in. I was skeptical of the room facing out, but they have some grass and trees, not just a road to look at.
Also, Fantasia rooms can face the pool. So it could be noisy with traffic, but you also could be closer to the Main Hall. Again, can ask for a room on the outside.
For us distance is big, refillable mugs and little legs and all. So we will be requesting the closest ground floor room they've got. But we would like to do 101 dalmations as it looks very nice and we've never stayed on that side of the resort.
Hopefully this helps some. :)

The cast member who helped me put a request in for the Toy Story area. I think after seeing teh layout(thank you for the map) that it is gonna be just right!

My only fear is that it being the most popular of the allstars that during August the pools will be packed. I have heard that Music is less popular which makes me wonder if we should ask to be in Mighty Ducks so we can easily hop over to the Music pools!? Or is that overly paranoid?

We will be staying here in May!

We do not have a preferred room and I was thinking that I will request a ground floor room pool side in the Mighty Ducks buildings. Then we will have the duck pond pool right out the door and we can go to the Music Resort for the busses and food court if we want since I've heard that it's closer to do that from the Mighty Ducks buildings. Does that sound like a good plan?

I have heard many people doing this, yes. If you have google earth there is a function to messure distance. You can pull up All Star movies and messure distances. The only thing is that you will probably be closer to ASmu if you are doing the refillable mugs. So you may want to get your soda there.

Well, believe it or not we don't drink soda so that won't be an issue for us! :)

So, are people in the all star resorts able to use the pools of all of the all star resorts or do you have to use the ones where your room is? I think it would be really fun to walk all these resorts and see the themes. Using the pools would be bonus!!

You can use any of the All Star Pools incliding all star music and sports pools

Trying to find out if All Star Movie rooms have been renovated recently. Thanks!

Nope. I hear they really need it, too. They are redoing Pop right now so hopefully ASMo is not far down the list. I'd love to have a renovated room when we go there in August.

Quick question.

Are the beds in ASMo high enough to ultilize some under the bed space for our stuff? I just want to be able to use as much space as I can having 3 adults and 1 child in the room. :thumbsup2
