Resort Thread Disney's ALL-STAR MOVIES Resort

There isn't a lot in the picture thread, and it's hard trying to go though all 100+ page to find some pictures.

Is there anyway to get the map posted to the first page?

http://www.wdwinfo.com/resortmaps/allstarmovie.htm

There is another picture thread, but it has all 3 all stars in it. I made the newest one a few months ago so we could separate them out for those who didn't want to weed through all of them. But if you take some more AS Movie pics, please do post them in the new movies thread! ;)

I will, but unfortunately my trip isn't until September. Trust me, it's my first trip to Disney, so I will be taking plenty of pictures.

We arrive in the morning and I know check in isn't till the afternoon, but if we put our swim suits in our carry-on bags (as Magic Express will have all our checked bags) is there a place to change by the pool so we could hang out there till our room was ready?

There are facilities at both pools. They don't have towels at the pools at the values but you will be able to find a housekeeping cart with towels. AND...there is a chance your room will be ready!

Have a great trip!

If you happen to get a room with a new "beverage cooler" will you report back on the size and how well it kept drinks cold?

I would love to see a photo of these "beverage coolers". Anyone know of one?

Thanks! :thumbsup2

We just got back from ASMo late Sunday night, and I appreciated everyone's thoughts in this thread so much, I wanted to contribute.

We had previously only stayed at rented houses with pools off-site and most recently at POFQ. Honestly? I thought ASMo was great. I can't figure out why the All-Stars get such a bad rap on the DIS. We only shared busses twice that I can think of and that was for DTD in the middle of the afternoon and then once for Animal Kingdom in the middle of the day as well. I found the bus service to be mostly excellent with busses coming often and having plenty of space. They were expectedly more crowded at park closing and once we had to wait for 2 or 3 busses before we got on, but it wasn't a long wait.

We stayed in building 4 (Dalmations) and while we requested a Toy Story room before check-in and again at check-in, they were unable to accomodate us for the length of our stay. I didn't think it was such a big deal, we just made sure to get over to Andy's room during our visit to see the area. I liked our room location and found it to be really quiet.

The poolside movie and activities were great and I thought the overall theming of the resort was awesome. The little photo opportunities and larger than life characters were a lot of fun. Our room wasn't glaringly smaller than the one we had at POFQ and the 4 of us (2 adults, 2 children aged 7 and 3) had room for our clothes in the drawers and to be hung-up. I also loved that they also had the room divider so I could get ready while the kids were still sleeping without waking them up.

All in all, while we loved POFQ, I would stay at ASMo again before I would stay at POFQ again. I don't see an added value difference between the two that makes up for the price, and while the pool didn't have a slide, our kids actually liked ASMo more than POFQ. I would absolutely stay here again.

The biggest downside, in my opinion is that most of the parks are a fair bus ride away. I can't remember how long it took us to get from POFQ to the parks, but most of the time we were at POFQ we made stops at POR, whereas there were no additional stops after being picked up at ASMo. Even if POFQ was closer to the parks, the additional time added for stopping in POR probably made the time on the bus about the same.

We had a great time there, and I hope you all do too!

Oh, and there was no beverage cooler in our room, we stayed from 1/28 - 2/5.

We will be there in 24 days and I will make sure to take lots of pictures. I was a little worried about staying at ASMo, but I am actually excited about staying there. :)

I love this place...we've stayed at Pop and POFQ previously and I've stayed at GF before I had a family; I like ASMo...we are heading back there in Sept because my kids and husband liked it so much. We go from open to close at the parks, all we need is a bed to crash in! I think this place is way better than Pop...so much more quiet! I did love POFQ because of the boats to DTD and Eliot Dyson playing in the lounge, but Movies has such a Disney vibe to it with the huge Disney icon statues, etc...plus there are tons of hummingbirds by the pool in the trumpet vines, I saw hundreds there in June 2009. I like the pool, too....its big enough to be comfortable. The food court is a short walk from the rooms and the service is good. They keep the place super-clean, too, at least they did in June 2009! Our mouskeeping was actually better there than at POFQ where they forgot to clean our room 2 times!

I am not sure if this has been addressed or not and since I am at work I can really wade through 127 pages of info.

We are heading down to ASMo this coming monday and will be there over Valentines Day. Is there anyway I can have flowers/gifts delivered to our room with out using the DisneyFlorist. I got a livingsocial deal with proflowers and wanted to surprise my wife and kids with some strawberries and flowers. We will be at the park all day Tuesday and it wold be a nice surprise to find these in our room when we got back.

Thanks in advance.

Anyone know the fastest/easiest way to get from all star movies to the grand Floridian? I have a 10am breakfast time to make and i am concerned about what time the buses start running and how packed they are first thing in the morning.

Also if you could post the avg travel time by the route you recommend

Thanks in advance for all answers!!

I think the best way would be to take the bus to the MK and then the resort boat to the GF. I think this would be quicker than the monorail because the boat goes right to GF from MK. The monorail would have to stop at CR, TTC and Poly before GF. Busses start running by 7am so you won't have problem getting there on time.

You walk by the boats to get to the monorail, so if there is a boat take the boat and if there is a monorail take that. The boats do not run as often, even if it is more direct.

Should take about 45-60 minutes total, but I would allow closer to 90 minutes. If you are early you can always look around the GF! :goodvibes

We have found the boat to be faster. We once were stuck on the monorail at the Contemporary for quite awhile and luckily we left early enough to get there on time.

Does anyone have any updates on the "beverage coolers" that they are meant to be installing? We'll be going in April :)
