Resort Thread Disney's ALL-STAR MOVIES Resort

thanks for the update dancingqueen! we were there in 05 and are heading back in 37 days. can't wait....off topic, we were in your neck of hte woods last summer to take the kids to sesame place. wish we could of stayed longer than three days!

I worked for four years at Sesame Place many moons ago! Loved working for them and still love the park! :)

We are CBR lovers who are thinking about booking a value for our 2010 trip. I'd love to hear the opinions of those who have stayed at both the CBR (or other moderate) and All Star Movies.

I have stayed at CBR as well as all of the values. There are advantages and disadvantages to staying at any resort. The pool at CBR is awesome but it is only DH and myself and we don't spend much time at the pool. We like ASMo the best. The themeing is great if you have little ones. At CBR you have to book a preferred room to be close to the food court and main pool. At ASMo the walk from any room to the pool and food court is minimal. I like the fact that I get on a bus to any park and go straight from my resort to the park, at CBR you have to make all of the other stops before you get to the park. You didn't say if you had little ones or not so check out the pictures on allears.net to see the resort.

Thanks for the information. I did forget to mention that we are two adults and a 12 year old son. Well, he'll be 13 on our next trip. How's the food court? Does it take long to get to the theme parks?

we had a blast...think i enjoyed it more than the kids! lol i had never heard of it, until yep i saw j&k+8...i know my one guilty pleasure! lol so one week before our maine trip- yes one week- i saw it and changed plans....we drove from nova scotia, to you guys, in a teeny 4 door pontiac wave!!! :scared1: wasn;t so bad we split it up, one nite in nb, 2 in maine, then we headed down in one day. oh well it was worth the trip!

I just booked a quick trip for my birthday weekend, checking in on Friday for MVMCP and having a meal on Saturday (right now it's lunch) at Le Cellier on my actual B-day (I'm a Canadian now residing in FL).

DS11 loves Fantasia so I booked preferred. Are all the rooms decorated the same in that building or are these special "Fantasia" rooms? If I wanted to be closest to the main pool what would I need to ask for? Are there rooms that basically open right to the pool area? I know that will be noisy but will it be terrible? We are pretty good sleepers. I think teh excitement of being that close to the pool will be fun.

Thanks

I need a new ticker...this one is wrong.

To answer your questions, the food court is good if you look at allears.net you can get the menus for any food place in WDW and prices. Look at a map of WDW the All Stars are right next to Blizzard Beach and close to Animal Kingdom. The furthest park is MK takes about 20 min. In the slower times you will share busses with the other All Stars with Movies being the last stop. That never bothered me. You can walk from Movies over to Music and then over to Sports. Seeing that your son is 12 he might enjoy seeing how Sports is themed.

Happy upcoming birthday!:cool1:
The rooms really aren't that highly themed -- I'm not sure but I think the only difference from building to building is a wallpaper border and the picture up on the wall will vary by building theme. If you are in one of the Fantasia buildings, you will have the Fantasia wallpaper and picture.
Yes, some rooms pretty much open to the pool (Fantasia building 5, where we were, has some rooms like that.) I didn't want the noise and was glad to be on the other side. I guess it would just depend on the particular guests as to just how noisy the pool area would be?
Well, that may be not too helpful -- but I do try! :rotfl:

Just wondering if anyone on here was going to be at ASMo in the next week or so and could do me a favor? I just wanted to see if the gift shop still sells the Martinelli's Sparkling Apple Cider and the price on it. I want to say it was there at ASMusic when we went in december and around 22.00 But I would love to get this for DHs birthday, so we can share, Since I can't drink because I will be 14 weeks pregnant :) Thank you to anyone who can/will check for me!

Is Fantasia rooms are Preferred or standard! And I need to know is how to rent a refrigerator!

Fantasia is preferred.

We didn't rent a fridge, we used one of the fridge swaps. I think you just call and ask them to add that request to your reservation, but don't quote me on that! :goodvibes

I've read reports that ASMo is in need of rehab. Can anyone tell me if it's true???

Yes and no. There are several things that are worn but in general it isn't shabby. We just spent 2 weeks in the Mighty Ducks Bldg and were pleased. The sink was a completely new solid surface. The bathroom was fine. The furniture was worn but still clean. The carpet was acceptable. We had it cleaned after a day or two because we have a baby and his knees were filthy just from 30 min. crawling in the room!

Any other specific questions?

these are relatively stupid questions, but we've booked our first trip to Disney and will be staying here 11/8-11/14.

1. How do you get in on a fridge swap? Id love to have one in our room for the little ones but dont want to rent one.

2. how far out from your trip can you call and request a location? I think i have a standard room booked, but because we have small children, would love to have a room closest to the buses and/or food court. Would that be the Herbie room? and do I just call the front desk and say "hey, we're booked for 11/8... can we get such and such a room?".

Thanks!

It looks like there are only two active all star fridge swaps. One is completely booked for your dates. The other is open from the 8th to the 13th, but then reserved. Go to the Budget Board and click on the Fridge Swap Sticky Thread near the top. Beware with the all star swap - you may have to get it or return it to another all star. Depends on who has it before and after you - and where they're staying. The person who has it starting the 13th is at Movies, but you'll probably have to get it from Music. They will NOT let you take it on a bus.

As far as requesting a room, you can ask for certain buildings. The Love Bug buildings are some fo the furthest away - it shouldn't be a problem to accommodate that request!

I hesitate to suggest this but request one of the Mighty Ducks Bldg. It is a very short walk to the Music Food court and pool. The downside is that the food court is smaller and seems busier thus it takes you longer to get your food.

If you are driving it would be cheaper to purchase a college fridge and just leave it or donate it to someone when you leave.

I already put in a request for a building, and I'm there the week before you. So I think you can do it now!

I just signed up for a fridge swap - I was going to suggest it, but I think the only days it's available during your stay is Nov. 11 & 12. Not sure if it'll be worth it for you? If you need one longer, you can always sign up for it on those two days and only rent one for two days before or after. :confused3

Just in case you want to do that, here's the link:

I am heading there this month!!! with my 3yo DGD but I need coffee! Do they have coffee pots in the rooms or do I need to bring my own small one? Thank you! I am so excited to be going!
