Resort Thread Disney's ALL-STAR MOVIES Resort

My daughter and I just returned after eight days at ASMo. We had a great time. Mousekeeping kept our room nice and tidy.
We stayed in Woody (bldg 9). Just as we were leaving, Woody was about to get a clean (Buzz got one ealier in the week).
We did see active refurbishment on the main building, a new coat of paint was being applied.
Transport was fine, we used the busses and our longest wait was 15 minutes and only had to stand twice.
Only complaint was the laundry by the fantasia pool. Only 8 machines and one was out of action.
I would stay there again.

tinkermom23 & zdurfee,

Thank you so much for your responses. I'm getting a little more excited now. I was worried when we got there someone wouldn't have a place to sleep based on some of the reveiws I've read about the room size.

Looking forward to the triplets first trip to Disney!!!! Now I just have to get character meals scheduled - oh that should be fun!

Thanks again! :)

:)Thanks for the report! It's so good to hear positive things about ASMO - I have to admit I was getting worried.

Thank you again

We were on the 2nd floor. We heard no noise from above. Of course, it all depends on who's above you. !

Yay glad to read some good reports!!!! I am getting excited about our Dec trip!!!

Thought that I would review our trip. We just got back and we had a wonderful time. It was very hot, but hey... It's Florida. We were there from June 15 to 23. Here are my observations.
1. Resort - Great place. We requested by fax, the Toy Story, Woody Bldg. We got it. We faced the wooded area. It was very quiet, we had no problems. We were in a preferred room, it was close enough to public areas and buses, but was far enough away from noise. Great Building. Our rooms were fine. They did need to be refurbished, but were certainly not shabby. New furniture and TV's would be nice. The beds were very comfortable. The rooms were very clean. I had no complaints.

2. Public Areas - The dining hall was always clean and rarely crowded. Even in the mornings the lines were not long. The cashiers were fast and helpful. We had the dinng plan and they help us figure it all out.
The pool was warm and not usually too crowded. It was well guarded until 11 pm. It was to close at midnight. People were always in it after midnight, but they did not seem too noisy. This could be problematic if you are staying in a Fantasia Bldg.

3. Staff - Mousekeeping was great. Check in and out was easy and quick. We were supposed to have a refrig. for meds. in our room. It was not there on check in, but I called and it was delivered within an hour.
We had packages delivered to the gift shop from the parks. That worked well also.

4. Buses - Not many problems. Never had to wait more than 5 minutes. the only bus we shared was with the water park. We had to stand a couple of times. Not really any complaints.

5. No cheerleaders or sports teams.

6. We stayed at All Star Sports one night. We did not like it at all. There were many, many, many unsupervised children and teenagers. Very, very noisy and unruly. Pools were extremely crowded. The rooms were brighter and with newer furniture. Larger TV's. I would have been uncomfortable staying there with my young grandchildren any longer.

7. All in All, we had a wonderful time. For those who are apprehensive about staying at the Movies..... don't be.....we had a great time....you will too.

Thanks so much for the wonderful review. We just booked ASMo last night for our December trip. This is the first time we are staying at a Value and was a little nervous because I have heard how loud they can be and that the busses are horrendous. I have always said that if I was to stay at a value resort, ASMo would be the one because with all the icons, it just feels very Disney. Plus, we always stay Deluxe and since this trip was never to be planned (at least on my part, my DH sprung the surprise), my DH wanted to save money somewhere....plus we are only using the resort for sleeping and showering. I am just happy that we are going back to Disney this year (we were just there in March).

I just wanted to chime in,we were there last Dec and we LOVED AS movies so much we just booked to go back this Dec. We didn't have any issues. So to those who wonder, during peak seasons, I can see more disturbances, but otherwise, it was a great resort! We did TOy Story last time, but saving on the preferred status and attempting Herby Love Bug. Kids love hte movie and you could see it from the CInema Hall (main area) so it's not far at all. The pool looked so Nice, we didnt have the time to try it out, but the kids did play in the kiddie pool. They LOVED it. We are all so very excited to take Disney up on their free dining at AS movies. :) Oh, chicken nuggets(adult portion) were VERY good. ;) And the Magical Express was GREAT! Minus the lineup at the Airport which really wasnt so bad at all. But we all loved the bus ride, very comfortable, great bus drivers, ours deserved the tips he got! :goodvibes And we do highly recommend Downtown Disney, especially at night. Same as Epcot around the world pavillion, great for night time. We went back and did it during the day, but will only go back at night. Very romantic. YAY! Cant wait to go back!

Thank you everyone for the trip reports. Keep 'em coming.

Less than 90 days out now. Made TS reservations yesterday. Getting very excited!

:cool1: Since I convinced DH to return next April I think we will be staying at the ASMovies. Dh and I (pre kids) stayed there in 2001 in the LoveBug section and we really liked it there. We stayed at the POFQ which was great but this time we are trying to save some $$$.

Plus I know the kids will love all the Icons.

Just booked ASMo for a quick weekend trip in October (two nights). We will be traveling with my parents. They wanted to stay at CBR again but on a trip this short we decided to save money and go with a value. We loved POP when we stayed there.

I didn't book preferred. Any recommendations on which building to request so we can be in a relatively quiet area, or not too far from the bus stop?

Thanks!!

We stayed in the Dalmatian building last Sept. and it was quiet and close to the main building and bus stops!

The Dalmation building is preferred. Maybe you just got lucky.
^^You would probably want to be in the love bug section.

Hi, we just booked a week at the World on free dining and we will be staying for our first time at ASMO!!:yay: I am super excited to be back at Disney and we wanted to save this year, so we went value. We have stayed at POP before and enjoyed it, but I always want to gamble and try something new.

I had a question regarding the beds at ASMO, and we wondering if the general consensus is that they are comfortable? And I also heard the All Stars were in renovation, is this true for ASMO, or was it ASMU or ASSP?

Thanks!

Thanks so much for this, we are staying the begining of December with our 2 little girls and this answers so many of my questions Thanks!!

I will be at ASMo in 13 days

Quick question: I am planning on doing on-line check-in. Is there a seperate line for this at the front desk?

Thanks:)

I stayed at ASMO and ASSP in June, 2009. The beds were confortable in both resorts. The ASSP had been renovated the ASMO has not, but although it needed to to renovated, it was not shabby. I was not uncomfortable staying there at all. I liked it better than the ASSP.

Hello! We're taking our first trip to Disney in October, arriving 10/2 and checking out 10/8. DD will turn 5 on the trip so Dalmations or Toy Story would probably be best character-wise (she's never seen Fantasia or Herbie) but I'd be more concerned about the accommodations. We've reserved a preferred room at ASMo and I have a few questions about the resort.

Is the Dalmation building the way to go if we want the best odds of being close to the bus stop but away from noise of the pool, etc.? Is there anything else we should mention when putting in a building request - like a specific floor?

Anyone know if there are big student groups booked for ASMo the same time we'll be there? Crossing my fingers that we don't get all the teams and cheerleaders I've heard about. :sad2:

I'm sure we'll have at least a couple meals in the food court. Any recommendations for the best food court options for breakfast, lunch or dinner?

Thanks!

Hello, I have read some of this thread but not all. I remember a year or two ago reading about a hanging a shower curtain for privacy. I am running out of time before we leave. Does anyone know if privacy curtains have been added to the Herbie or Mighty Ducks bldgs? I am searching for a cheap shower curtain to hang between the sleeping and sink area. My DH is already upset about what he percieves as "Excess" things I am packing. ie. Hot pot, over the door shoe holder, laundry bag...

Exactly 1 week until we leave!!
